Earlier today, (December 7, 2015), the candidate currently leading in the polls for the Republican presidential nomination called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” That was, of course, Donald Trump. As Jeffrey Goldberg just tweeted, “Donald Trump is now an actual threat to national security. He’s providing jihadists ammunition for their campaign to demonize the US.”
“IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”
I’ve followed this family since their early days in Miami.
I know their story and how Gloria came to be the main singer of Miami Sound Machine. The band became a huge hit in the Latin community. Then Gloria “crossed over” into the American mainstream music scene.
It was all then about Gloria.
I remember their hits, I have all the CD and concert videos. I couldn’t forget the harrowing time of the bus crash, her fractured back, her rescue, her recovery, her rehab and her comeback … that blue dress singing “Coming Out of the Dark”.
And the rest is history!
In their personal lives, they had Nayib and finally a daughter, Emily. Her name honors her dad Emilio.
I’ve seen Emily dab here and there in music. She has it in her genes, her internal makeup and her talent has grown.
She has released an awesome video with an absolutely on target message.
If you ask Gloria Estefan, it feels like yesterday when her daughter Emily was a baby backstage at her sold-out concerts. Fast-forward to today and the 21-year-old college sophomore is totally grown up and ready to rock out on her own.
“I always think about it as a double-edge sword,” Emily shared on Today’s show when asked about following the same career as her mom. “I don’t even understand that saying because doesn’t a sword have one edge?”
She continued, “But the reality is they’re amazing golden footsteps to follow in so my biggest fear now is just being able to do the past justice.”
“I know that must people I know believe in me for my talent and for what I stand for but there’s always a doubt in my mind because there is no way of knowing when you are a descendant of the Conga Queen.”
As her parents focus on their Broadway musical appropriately titled “On Your Feet,” Emily is ready to prove she herself can turn the beat around. And yes, she’ll do it while wearing mama’s clothes.
“When I want to go shopping, I just go to the warehouse and grab her clothes,” Emily admitted while wearing Gloria’s retro pants and T-shirt. As they like to say, like mother, like daughter.
Singer Emily Estefan, the Miami Beach daughter of Gloria and Emilio, on Thursday released a music video in which she expresses her point of view to a ‘sterile and ominous’ world: F#ck To Be.
F#ck To Be prominently focuses on male and female gender roles and stereotypes.
On November 3, Emily Estefan released her brand new video F#ck To Be. The concept behind the video shows Emily discovering and noticing a world that it is not what she expected instead it is very sterile and ominous.
“There are two POVs in the video, it is either what I see or what the mirror sees. It is me against the mirror. The mirror being expectations that I carry of myself, or what people expect me to be. I’m combatting the mirror, “ says Estefan.
F#ck to Be will be the first single from her forthcoming full length CD, Take Whatever You Want. Emily wrote, recorded, produced and performed her full album at Fairy Light Studios (her own studio in her college apartment in Boston, MA).
“Many people think I am saying “F” everything or everything sucks, but that is not true. I go in and out of these very different looks in the video that I don’t necessarily like for myself, but that doesn’t mean that I frown upon them, it just means that it is not me” said Estefan.
There’s also a law known as the “Americans with Disabilities Act”.
There’s the “Golden Rule”.
Mainly there’s common sense.
This man truly believes that he’s above everyone and everyone.
He doesn’t care about badmouthing or disrespecting anyone. Remember the Mexicans, John McCain, Megyn Kelly, “illegal immigrants, Jorge Ramos, Black Lives Matter …. and so many others.
Donald Trump Slammed For Mocking Disabled New York Times Reporter Serge Kovaleski
Speaking at a rally in South Carolina on Tuesday night Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump seems to mock New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski, who has a chronic condition called arthrogryposis which affects the movement of his arms.
Trump imitates Kovaleski while defending comments he has made over the past few weeks, asserting that members of the Muslim communities in New Jersey celebrated following the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers in 2001.
The New York Times has slammed Trump’s actions as ‘outrageous’.
(This is not direct discrimination, it’s lower than that).
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is a law that was enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1990. In 1986, the National Council on Disability had recommended enactment of an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and drafted the first version of the bill which was introduced in the House and Senate in 1988.
It was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H. W. Bush, amended and signed by President George W. Bush with changes effective January 1, 2009.
The ADA is a wide-ranging civil rights law that is intended to protect against discrimination based on disability. It affords similar protections against discrimination to Americans with disabilities as the Civil Rights Act of 1964,[4] which made discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, and other characteristics illegal.

Donald Trump Criticized After He Appears to Mock Reporter Serge Kovaleski – New York Times Slams Trump’s ‘Outrageous’ Mocking of Reporter With Congenital Condition
There are some words that can be understood if you speak Spanish. Sometimes understanding words aren’t needed to get a message across.
This is a perfect example of actions speaking louder than words.
As an owner of a handicapped permit, I’ve seen this too frequently. As I have gotten older, my body is showing the “wear and tear” of aging. I’m fortunate enough to still have comfortable mobility. I know that there are others in worse condition.
The message I see is that these “reserved spots” need to be respected. There are fines and maybe towing.
However, nothing better than this prank.
(If anyone understands this language, please, write the basic message in the comments. Thank you.)
A disabled parking permit, also known as a handicapped permit, disabled placard, disabled badge and “Blue Badge” in the European Union, is displayed upon parking a vehicle carrying a person whose mobility would be otherwise significantly impaired by one or more of age, illness, disability or infirmity.
The permit allows exemption from street-parking charges in some places and is used to park within dedicated disabled parking spaces reserved for people who have satisfied requirements to receive the placard.
~~ABUSE~~
The abuse and/or misuse of disabled parking permits has been identified as a major problem in the US, with some estimates indicating the majority seen on the street are used or obtained fraudulently. The substantial privilege and convenience granted by a permit provides a major incentive to use one illegally or obtain one fraudulently, and medical privacy law often confounds attempts to identify truly disabled individuals from abuses.
Abuse most often occurs under the following circumstances
A non-disabled driver using the vehicle, plate or placard of another person who is disabled without transporting that person. This often occurs with family members of disabled people.
Forging a physician’s signature on the form submitted to the motor vehicle department.
Bribing a physician to submit the form for the motor vehicle department.
Feigning or exaggerating symptoms of a medical condition in order to convince a physician to submit the form.
“Why did the chicken cross the road?” is a common riddle joke.
The answer or punch line is: “To get to the other side.”
The riddle is an example of anti-humor, in that the curious setup of the joke leads the listener to expect a traditional punchline, but they are instead given a simple statement of fact. “Why did the chicken cross the road?” has become largely iconic as an exemplary generic joke to which most people know the answer, and has been repeated and changed numerous times.
Ricky Martin Joins Anti-Trump Effort, Nixes Charity Golf Tourney from Trump’s Golf Club in Puerto Rico
Ricky Martin is not only a world-class singer and performer, but he’s also a philanthropist, a supporter of marriage equality and gay rights. When he heard Donald’s hurtful comments about Mexican immigrants, he couldn’t allow himself to be professionally associated with someone who preaches such ignorance and negativity to the world.
Martin has pulled the annual Ricky Martin Foundation charity golf event at the Trump International Golf Club Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, according to a press release.
The Puerto Rican Grammy and Latin Grammy winner is joining the anti-Donald Trump movement along with Macy’s, Univision, NBC Universal and Televisa as well as fellow entertainers RoselynSanchez and J Balvin in cutting off business affiliations and/or ties to Trump.
Martin’s tweet was sparked by Univision taking the initiative to drop the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants after the Republican candidate’s derogatory campaign speech.
“When Mexico sends its people they’re not sending the best,” Trump said. “They’re not sending you, they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems.
They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime.
They’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they’re telling us what we’re getting.”

The largest Spanish-language broadcaster has decided to not air Donald Trump’s annual Miss USA pageant next month due to the presidential candidate’s recent comments on immigration.
“Today the entertainment division of #Univision Communications Inc. announced that it is ending the Company’s business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, which is part-owned by Donald J. Trump, based on his recent, insulting remarks about #Mexican #immigrants.
At Univision we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country.
We will not be airing the #MissUSApageant on July 12 or working on any other projects tied to the Trump #Organization.”
When recently announcing his run for president, Trump called for a great wall to be built in order to stop illegal immigration from Mexico to the United States.
“They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists,” he said. “And some, I assume, are good people.” Donald Trump
Outspoken billionaire Donald Trump remained true to form during his presidential announcement speech Tuesday, delivering a rambling 30-minute talk that touched on a multitude of subjects, including jobs, immigration and wealth — but mostly China and Mexico.
