Pink reveals her new role as a UNICEF ambassador on Good Morning America

Pink has been appointed a UNICEF ambassador.

And the proud pop star appeared on Good Morning America on Monday to share her big news.

The 36-year-old singer – who shares three-year-old daughter, Willow with husband Carey Hart – will focus on children’s health initiatives, including fighting global malnutrition, which impacts 159 million children.

Meghan Trainor Has Her Own ‘Peanuts’ Character and Song On the Soundtrack

Meghan Trainor is the newest member of the Peanuts gang, and she has a new feel-good song to celebrate.

The “Dear Future Husband” singer revealed her cartoon identity via Twitter and Instagram Tuesday (July 27, 2015), also announcing that she will be on the soundtrack for The Peanuts Movie that hits theaters in November.

The track, titled, “Better When I’m Dancin’,” is another classic confidence-boosting tune from Trainor—exactly what The Peanuts Movie makers were looking for.

“They wanted a song about confidence and knew I was good at writing those,” Trainor told People. “I feel better when I’m onstage dancing and having fun, so I wrote about that!”

A Day In The Life Of Waiting For The Supreme Court Decision On Marriage Equality

WASHINGTON

Any day now, the Supreme Court is going to hand down a major decision on same-sex marriage. And when it does, and if it rules in favor of marriage equality, as many observers expect, there’s going to be one hell of a party outside.

There will be rainbow flags. There will be rainbow shirts. There will be little dogs with little rainbow shirts and little rainbow flags. Hundreds and hundreds of people will likely squeeze in by the front steps, with brightly colored signs and hugs for strangers and someone blasting Beyoncé and Lady Gaga songs. There will be tears; there will be protesters. Spider-Man might come — he does from time to time — and a guy in a Revolutionary War costume will almost definitely be there.

But in the days leading up to the court’s decision — it could come Thursday, Friday or next Monday — it’s been a quieter affair.

The front steps are empty. There are no lines wrapping around the corner of the street. Even on days when the court has been in session, when there’s a chance the same-sex marriage decision could happen, rumors of the ruling being put off until late June have been enough to keep most people away.

102 year old woman sees herself on film for the first time ever

During the Harlem Renaissance of the 1930’s and 1940’s Alice Barker was a chorus line dancer. She danced at clubs such as The Apollo and Zanzibar Club, alongside legends including Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, and Bill “Bojanggles” Robinson.

Alice has danced in many movies, commercials and TV shows, but has never seen any of them. All of her photographs and memorabilia have been lost over the years.

Three “Soundies” in which Alice appears have been retrieved, and in the video below you will witness Alice watching herself dance for the first time. She had never seen herself in motion in her life!

Eight-Year-Old Amputee Performs An Emotional Dance Only A Year After Losing Her Leg

An eight-year-old girl, who lost her leg below the knee after she was hit by a truck last year, has given her first solo dance performance since the tragedy and earned a standing ovation.

Alissa Sizemore, from Vernal, Utah, was seven-years-old when her leg was severed when a truck ran over it. Her right leg had to be amputated below the knee, but the girl, who had been taking dancing lessons since she was four-years-old, was determined to get back in the dance studio just as soon as possible.

Last May, Alissa was playing with her sister Cyley and some of her friends outside when she ran past a few garbage bins which were pulled to the curb, just as a truck was breaking to a stop. Alissa’s right foot was caught underneath the truck’s tire.

The girl was immediately flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, but doctors were unable to save her leg.

The girl was dependent on a wheelchair or crutches before she was fitted with her prosthetic leg, but she was already doing simple dance moves in the studio her father had built for her and her sisters.

Alissa told People:

I just didn’t want to give up. Dancing has been my favorite thing since I was four. I don’t have part of my leg, but I can’t let that stop me. I still want to dance.

For her debut performance, Alissa, who received a prosthetic leg in September 2014, chose Colbie Caillat’s hit Try. She and her mom felt that the song reflected her emotional journey over the past year. She removed her artificial limb as a part of the routine. Alissa’s mother Heather shared a video of her daughter’s performance on her YouTube channel.

The footage shows Alissa sporting a seafoam green ballet costume, as she walks confidently toward a bench set up in the middle of Vernal’s high school gymnasium, where the performance took place.

The little girl is seen performing an impressive series of leg stretches and even a cartwheel before removing her prosthetic limb.
