And it is beautiful, too, indeed, I think some of Seth Andrews’ best work. Interesting point: rather than Seth’s dulcet baritone doing the narration, this piece presses Nathan Phelps’ deep bass intonation into service, bringing a different flavor to it, as well as a healthy dose of irony.

Declare World Peace

One syllable, five letters, containing so much grace.
You’d think each single soul would find it easy to embrace.
Whispered in the darkness by those who live in fear.
Shouted from the mountaintops for everyone to hear.

Elusive as the wind that blows it often slips away.
Leaving in its shadow, pain and sorrow in the fray.
Let us join together as we call for war to cease.
Let us all agree to all declare we want world peace.

In every corner of the world in every language known.
Speak the words of peace in every country, every zone.
Add your voice until we drown the noise of hate and war.
Until the sound of peace becomes a loud and thunderous roar.

MUST NOT LOSE FAITH

Paris the 13th

Tears, my tears fall to wine
As I can not comprehend this horrendous crime
Men filled with such spiteful hate
Islamic teachings seal their fate
Kill and slaughter love and smiles
How I pray tell does this bring about
Any compassion of heart, have they no guile?

I have walked along those Parisian streets
Filled with history and diversity, such a feat
Hand in hand, people from so many lands
Dressed in darkness, blacks and grays
The massacre dancing in premonitions sway
Crusaders never win, for love will take its stand

Hundreds taken from Jesus hands
For nothing more than celebrating their great lands
Food and drink and lovers smiles
Stolen this night by hateful bile
We shall rise again, defend and stand

Our blood may flow in the river seine
However in the end its you, who is insane
We shall defend our liberty
Even if we hang evil from the tree

Such history over all the years
Yet here I am faced to visit once again

Paying respect to those dying in vain
My heart is fraught, with you till eternity

Warsan Shire (born 1988) is a Somali–British writer, poet, editor and teacher. Shire was born in 1988 in Kenya to Somali parents. She immigrated to the United Kingdom aged 1. Shire has a . As of 2015, she primarily resides in London.

Shire has received various awards for her art. In April 2013, she was presented with Brunel University’s inaugural African Poetry Prize, an award earmarked for poets who have yet to publish a full-length poetry collection. She was chosen from a shortlist of six candidates out of a total 655 entries.

In October 2013, Shire was also selected from a shortlist of six young bards as the first Young Poet Laureate for London. The honor is part of the London Legacy Development Corporation’s Spoke program, which focuses on promoting arts and culture in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the surrounding area.

Resonating Thoughts #1 …. “Stir and Restrain”!!

RESONATING THOUGHTS 

I frequently look, scroll and find many thoughts through my Facebook Timeline, my Tweeter and Instagram feeds which resonate with my innermost beliefs and values.

This shows me that there are others who have gone through situations I’ve gone through, who have experienced the world as I have.

It may be many centuries prior to my time or if maybe during this current time on Earth.

When I read these, many time I find that what happened long time ago, still applies to today.

Then I ask myself: What did we learn?

Sometimes it seems we didn’t.

Definition of “resonating”:

Evoke a feeling of shared emotion or belief ….

I would like to share some of these with you.

The last few days have been harrowing and mind-boggling. The security of what we know as our life, our world and our safety has been shaken to the core.

We frequently think:

“It won’t happen to me, it won’t happen here, it won’t happen to us.”

The only thing that we know for sure is that life, as we know it, can change in a flash.

Here’s a balm, a beautiful song to transport us to a warm, beautiful place …. if only for a moment.

Paris Attacks Kill More Than 100, Police Say; Border Controls Tighter

The Paris area reeled Friday night, November 13, 2015, from a shooting rampage, explosions and mass hostage-taking that President François Hollande called an unprecedented terrorist attack on France. His government announced sharply increased border controls and heightened police powers as it mobilized the military in a national emergency.

French television and news services quoted the police as saying that around 100 people had been killed at a concert site where hostages had been held during a two-hour standoff with the police, and that perhaps dozens of others had been killed in apparently coordinated attacks outside the country’s main sports stadium and four other popular locations in the city.

But estimates on the total number of dead varied.

Allison Holker and Twitch Boss performed on Dancing with the Stars 16 Week 7 Results Show with Lindsey Stirling on violin.

Allison and tWitch are from So You Think You Can Dance.

 They’re such a happy couple.

Looking through YouTube … what to post for the last entry, I found this video. I’ve know about Allison from DWTS, about tWitch from the Ellen Degeneres Show, about Lindsey from YouTube.

I follow all of them.

I consider all to be accomplished performers in their respective art form.

I didn’t know about this performance on DWTS.

It was uploaded in 2013.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Allison Renae Holker (born February 6, 1988) is an American dancer. Holker is credited with a wide variety of work in film, television and concert tours. She is most famously known from her appearances on the TV Show So You Think You Can Dance, where she was a contestant in season 2 and an all-star in seasons 7 through 11.

Stephen “tWitch” Boss (born 1982) is a freestyle hip-hop dancer from Montgomery, Alabama.

tWitch got his nickname, as a child, from popping and ticking, when he couldn’t sit still.

On December 10, 2013, tWitch and fellow SYTYCD alum, Allison Holker, married at Nigel Lythgoe’s Villa San Juliette Vineyard and Winery in Paso Robles, Calif.

They had been dating for approximately 2 1/2 years before getting engaged in January 2013.

Through Allison, he gained a stepdaughter named, Weslie, who was born in 2008.

On October 5, 2015, he and Allison Holker announced they were expecting their first child together on the television show “Dancing With The Stars“.

Lindsey Stirling (born September 21, 1986) is an American violinist, dancer, performance artist, singer and composer. She presents choreographed violin performances, both live and in music videos found on her YouTube channel, Lindsey Stirling, which she introduced in 2007.

Stirling performs a variety of music styles, from classical to pop and hip-hop to electronic dance music.
