RACIST, SEXIST, MYSOGYNIST, HEARTLESS

You don’t have to be a Republican.

You don’t have to be a Democrat.

All you have to be is a human being.

There’s compassion for the fellowmen and women.

There’s charity for the needy.

There’s also a law known as the “Americans with Disabilities Act”.

There’s the “Golden Rule”.

Mainly there’s common sense.

This man truly believes that he’s above everyone and everyone.

He doesn’t care about badmouthing or disrespecting anyone. Remember the Mexicans, John McCain, Megyn Kelly, “illegal immigrants, Jorge Ramos, Black Lives Matter …. and so many others.

The list is endless.

HOW LOW CAN HE GO?

Donald Trump Slammed For Mocking Disabled New York Times Reporter Serge Kovaleski

Speaking at a rally in South Carolina on Tuesday night Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump seems to mock New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski, who has a chronic condition called arthrogryposis which affects the movement of his arms.

Trump imitates Kovaleski while defending comments he has made over the past few weeks, asserting that members of the Muslim communities in New Jersey celebrated following the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers in 2001.

The New York Times has slammed Trump’s actions as ‘outrageous’.

(This is not direct discrimination, it’s lower than that).

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is a law that was enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1990. In 1986, the National Council on Disability had recommended enactment of an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and drafted the first version of the bill which was introduced in the House and Senate in 1988.

It was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H. W. Bush, amended and signed by President George W. Bush with changes effective January 1, 2009.

The ADA is a wide-ranging civil rights law that is intended to protect against discrimination based on disability. It affords similar protections against discrimination to Americans with disabilities as the Civil Rights Act of 1964,[4] which made discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, and other characteristics illegal.

NO PLACE FOR THEM

This Thanksgiving, No Place for Refugees at the American Table
Posted on Nov 18, 2015
By Amy Goodman and Denis Moynihan

In the wake of the horrific attacks in Paris on Nov. 13, there has been a crushing backlash against refugees from the wars in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. As Americans prepare for one of the most popular national holidays, Thanksgiving, which commemorates the support and nourishment provided by the indigenous people to English refugees seeking a better life free from religious persecution, a wave of xenophobia is sweeping the country.

In the U.S. Congress, no less than six separate bills have been put forward to block any federal funding to resettle refugees from Syria or Iraq and to empower states to deny entry into their “territory.”

Imagine if all of a sudden we had 50 “statelets” creating their own border checkpoints, stopping all travelers, looking for anyone suspicious, i.e., any and all Syrians.

So far, 31 state governors have essentially demanded this.

ThxG

Republican Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback issued an executive order forbidding any agency of state government from cooperating in any way with Syrian refugee support efforts. House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have called for a pause in the Syrian refugee program, with the support of Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer.

(all so called Chrstians)

It has been almost 400 years since that first, fateful Thanksgiving feast in Massachusetts.

Xenophobic policies like those threatening to shut out refugees from these wars, if allowed to stand, should serve as a shameful centerpiece at every Thanksgiving table this year.

NEVER PATRIOTIC

The Real Meaning of the Confederate Flag

For many years after the Civil War, the symbols of the Confederacy were not much seen outside local museums and burial grounds. The late general Robert E. Lee, a reluctant but revered Confederate hero, rejected any post-war fetishizing of the Stars and Bars, which had actually originated as the battle flag of his Army of Northern Virginia.

Lee believed it “wiser … not to keep open the sores of war.”

But such admonishments were cast aside by the exponents of white supremacy, whose own patriotism was certainly suspect. When the Ku Klux Klan and the Knights of the White Camellia were revived as racial terror organizations in the 1930’s and 1940’s, carrying out a spree of cowardly lynchings, their grand wizards found natural allies among the leaders of the German-American Bund — whose funding and fealty were eventually traced to Nazi headquarters in Berlin.

Indeed, the Klansmen burned their towering crosses alongside swastika banners at rallies sponsored by the Bund to attack President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Confederate flag pulled from SC capitol grounds by activists

An activist group claimed responsibility for taking the flag down. Witnesses said two people were arrested by authorities almost immediately after one of them scaled the flag pole on the north side of the State House grounds and pulled the Confederate banner down.

The state Bureau of Protective Services confirmed it had arrested two people at the State House about 6:15 a.m. Those arrested were Brittany Ann Byuarim Newsome, a 30-year-old Raleigh resident, and James Ian Tyson, a 30-year-old Charlotte resident.

They are charged with defacing state property, a misdemeanor that carries penalties of up to three years in prison or a fine of up to $5,000 or both.

At the end of the day …. You be the judge: “Opportunism or god’s blessing?”

Piz13

~~April 3, 2015~~

I must confess that this Indiana/Hoosier topic doesn’t seem to want to leave my mind.

Why?

Because I believe in freedom and equality for all? Because I think I can determine what is right or wrong? Because I believe that this RFRA law signed by Gov. Pence is totally discriminatory? Because I believe this law, as originally signed, sets a precedent and opens the door for discrimination of many minority groups? Because I am a member of the LGBTQ community? Because bigotry, hate and discrimination are not supposed to be true American values?

Because I had high expectations of this country? Because I was taught the difference between right and wrong? Because I know the difference between real need and taking advantage? Because this smells fishy rather than pizza?

Because this says a lot to me about the business owners? Because this says even more about the people who are sending their hard-earned money to this fund?

You name it.

Lady, you don’t need to be sad for me. I know where I stand in my religious freedom and the beliefs that I hold dear. I know that my relationship with god is a good one for me.

Like Rosie explains below, I have a hard time imagining anyone (gay or straight) catering their wedding reception with pizza. There’s no need to worry your little head with this concern. It would never happen where people from my community are concerned. We are way too classy for that.

Get off your cloud … don’t consider yourself that lucky. Could anyone explain to me how these two thoughts go together:

“Her family ‘doesn’t hate gays’ but simply would not deliver pizzas to a gay wedding because of their religious beliefs.” Yet, they would serve them in the pizza place …. sure that’s where the profits come in.

I truly think those who have donated money have been taken for a ride.

Now nearly $800,000 richer, Indiana pizzeria co-owner is ‘sad, very sad’ for gays

Crystal O’Connor: ‘We have to accept them, and we just ask they accept us’

BY GREG HERNANDEZ

Flush with nearly $800,000 in donations from supporters, the owners of Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Indiana, aren’t through talking about gay people.

‘God has blessed us for standing up for what we believe, and not denying Him,’ Crystal O’Connor tells Fox News.

She also said her family ‘doesn’t hate gays‘ but simply would not deliver pizzas to a gay wedding because of their religious beliefs.

The family was the first Indiana business to publicly state this after the state’s governor, Mike Pence, signed a ‘religious freedom‘ bill into law that would allow private businesses to do so.

Memories Pizza was so besieged by phone calls and online comments that they temporarily shut their doors. This resulted in a Go Fund Me campaign that as of Friday afternoon was closing in on $800,000.

Of the LGBTI community her family has offended O’Connor says:

‘All we can do is pray for them, and truly, we’re not really angry at them. We’re sad for them. Very sad.

‘We have to accept them, and we just ask they accept us.’

It’s OK to serve gays in restaurant, but a sin ‘if we cater their wedding’

~~Published on Apr 2, 2015~~

Indiana pizzeria owner speaks out against religious freedom backlash
A pizza restaurant in a small Indiana town has turned into a flashpoint in the national fight over religious freedom and gay marriage. Crystal O’Connor, one of the owners of the family-run Memories Pizza, told a local news outlet that, hypothetically, they would not cater gay weddings. They got quite a lot of social media trolling in response, as well as lots of threats.

As a result, they had to shut down. However, on Fox Business Network tonight, O’Connor told Neil Cavuto “we have decided that we will reopen again,” they’re just not sure when. They want to wait until the anger and threats subside.

O’Connor had said in the now-infamous local TV interview that they wouldn’t mind serving gay customers, just that they wouldn’t cater gay weddings. Cavuto asked her about why that’s the case. O’Connor explained:

“It is not a sin that we bring gays into our establishment and to serve them. It is a sin, though, if we cater their wedding. We feel we are participating, we are putting a stamp of approval on their wedding.”

She did emphasize that they “show no hatred” towards gay people and told Cavuto she just feels sad for all the people attacking them.

~~April 3, 2015~~

Up to this point, it has been services that one can do without or receive at any gay friendly facility. These are services that are not absolutely necessary for our well-being. These services are not immediately needed. There’s time to look at other places.

However, what if the bigotry, discrimination, lunacy reaches levels where your life would be dependent on the services required or needed?

Has anyone stopped to think about this? Has anyone considered this option?

it will be definitely different when it touches you or one of yours.

From conventions to concerts, cancellations over RFRA begin

An October conference has become the first to pull out of Indianapolis due to controversy over the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) announced Monday they are pulling their 2015 Women’s Conference from the city in response to the legislation Governor Mike Pence signed into law last week. The conference was scheduled from October 9-11 at the JW Marriott.

“The 1.6 million members of AFSCME cannot in good conscience make such a sizable financial investment in Indiana knowing that women and men in that state are deliberately being targeted for discrimination,” the organization said in a release.

“AFSCME is pulling our Women’s Conference out of Indiana this fall as a sign of our disgust and disappointment with Governor Pence’s discriminatory law,” the release continued. “We stand with the ever-growing number of corporations and associations who are taking similar action this week, and demanding fairness for all in the state of Indiana.”

NCAA headquarters, the organization said RFRA could cause a re-thinking of its relationship with the city and state.

“Indianapolis is a preferred partner in heavy rotation for a lot of NCAA championships,” UIndy sports marketing expert Larry DeGaris explained, and said NCAA could change that as plenty of other cities would love the Final Four.

And losing the games would not just mean lost tourist dollars downtown. He said NCAA playoffs bring business-to-business relationships that can become highly lucrative deals.

In an interview with NBC, NCAA President Mark Emmert called the law disturbing and disheartening. He also indicated that it could impact the future of big-time college events Indiana.

“I and the Board of Governors who oversee the NCAA need to sit down and talk about what does this really mean? What are the real implications and what does that mean for the many events that we host here?,” Emmert asked. “It’s not just the final four. We do many things here and of course it’s our home state for the national office. So we’re gonna have to evaluate what that means and how we want to engage with the state going forward.”

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook on Sunday broadened his criticism of a new law in Indiana, which opponents say could be used to discriminate against gay people, to other states that he says have similar laws.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law Thursday, sparking an outcry from those, including Cook, who say it could be used to protect businesses that refuse to serve gay people. The law’s supporters say it will prevent the government from forcing business owners from providing services that go against their religious beliefs.

“These bills rationalize injustice by pretending to defend something many of us hold dear,” Cook wrote in a Washington Post op-ed, referring not only to Indiana’s law, which goes into effect in July, but also to those of “more than two dozen states.”

America’s business community recognized a long time ago that discrimination, in all its forms, is bad for business. At Apple, we are in business to empower and enrich our customers’ lives. We strive to do business in a way that is just and fair. That’s why, on behalf of Apple, I’m standing up to oppose this new wave of legislation — wherever it emerges. I’m writing in the hopes that many more will join this movement. From North Carolina to Nevada, these bills under consideration truly will hurt jobs, growth and the economic vibrancy of parts of the country where a 21st century economy was once welcomed with open arms.

Yelp is a multi-national corporation headquartered in San Francisco, California. It develops, hosts and markets Yelp.com and the Yelp mobile app, which publish crowd-sourced reviews about local businesses, as well as online reservation service SeatMe and food delivery service Eat24. The company also trains small businesses to respond to reviews responsibly, hosts social events for reviewers, and provides data about businesses, such as health inspection scores.

Yelp was founded in 2004 by former Paypal employees at the startup incubator MRL Ventures. It was initially an unsuccessful email-based referral service, but was re-launched on the basis of unsolicited online reviews in late 2005. Yelp became a public company in March 2012 and became profitable for the first time two years later.

As of 2014, Yelp.com has 135 million monthly visitors and 71 million reviews. The company’s revenues come from businesses being reviewed on the site paying to advertise.
