FEELING THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

Pocoyo (Pocoyó in Spanish) is a Spanish pre-school animated television series created by Guillermo García Carsí, Luis Gallego and David Cantolla, and is a co-production between Spanish producer Zinkia Entertainment, Cosgrove-Hall Films and Granada International.

Two series have been produced, each consisting of 52 seven-minute episodes. English actor and comedian Stephen Fry narrates the English-language version and José María del Río narrates the Castilian Spanish version of the first two seasons, while Stephen Hughes narrates the third season, called Let’s Go Pocoyo.

Set in a 3D space, with a plain white background and usually no backdrops, it is about Pocoyo, a 4-year-old boy, interacting with his friends Pato (a duck), Elly (an elephant) and Loula (a dog).

Puerto Ricans (Spanish: Puertorriqueños; Taíno: boricua) are the inhabitants or citizens of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is a multi-ethnic nation, home to people of different ethnic and national backgrounds. As a result, some Puerto Ricans do not treat their nationality as an ethnicity but as a citizenship with various ethnicities and national origins comprising the “Puerto Rican people“.

Despite its multi-ethnic composition, the culture held in common by most Puerto Ricans is referred to as mainstream Puerto Rican culture, a Western culture largely derived from the traditions of Western European migrants, beginning with the early Spanish settlers, along with other Europeans arriving later such as the Corsicans, Irish, Germans and French, along with a strong West African culture which has been influential.

I totally understand that this is a pre-school series and directed to toddlers. It’s way beyond my age bracket.

Remember, age is just a number.

Yet, I find myself fascinated by the artwork that has gone into making these characters come to life.

I think they are awesome. The story lines are also cute. The friendships between the characters are educational and sweet.

I hope you enjoy this graphic and the concept behind it.

Abbey Road is a thoroughfare in the borough of Camden and the City of Westminster in London, running roughly northwest to southeast through St. John’s Wood, near Lord’s Cricket Ground. It is part of the B507 road.

This road is best known for the Abbey Road Studios and the 1969 album, Abbey Road, by The Beatles.

Topo Gigio wishes all of you a very Happy New Year!! 

Topo Gigio was the lead character of a children’s puppet show on Italian and Spanish television in the early 1960s. The character, created by artist Maria Perego, debuted on Italian television in 1959 and has been customarily voiced by actor Giuseppe “Peppino” Mazzullo and later Davide Garbolino. The Italian nickname “Gigi” is a derivative of Luigi (“Louis”), so Topo Gigio could be translated as Louie Mouse.

To start the day …. “The ‘Other Christmas Letter’ From Children To Their Parents!!”

To my English speaking friends and readers, the ad is in Spanish (from Spain and their specific intonation). However, there are subtitles and you won’t miss the message. 

Hope you enjoy it. 

Watching TV around Christmas can be a minefield for children and parents alike, with all those toy commercials. But in this case, IKEA Spain came up with a campaign called #LaOtraNavidad (The other Christmas) in which they present ‘the other letter’ written by children to their parents, after asking the Three Kings for numerous gifts in their first letters.

All the kids in the video end up making the same petition to their parents: to spend more time playing together; which, needless to say, brought the adults to tears as they read their children’s wishes.

The producing agency assures the moving commercial is real and unscripted, what do you think?

A vivacious, energetic musical piece by Chris Spheeris. Gloriously interpreted by this wonderful group of dancers. 

Reminds me very much of flamenco.

Flamenco is a form of Spanish folk music and dance from the region of Andalucia in southern Spain. It includes cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), baile (dance) and palmas (handclaps). First mentioned in literature in 1774, the genre grew out of Andalucian and Romani music and dance styles. Flamenco is often associated with the gitanos (Romani people of Spain) and a number of famous flamenco artists are of this ethnicity. Flamenco was first recorded in the late 18th century but the genre underwent a dramatic development in the late 19th century.

Chris Spheeris is a Greek-American composer of instrumental music. He is a producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Chris is the cousin of Penelope Spheeris and her brother Jimmie Spheeris, and Costas Gavras. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Chris began writing songs on his guitar as a teenager.

In 1985, Chris began composing for film. His work in collaboration with filmmaker Chip Duncan includes the television series Is Anyone Listening, the series Mystic Lands (Discovery Networks), In A Just World (PBS) and the classroom production entitled The Life & Death of Glaciers (Discovery Education).
