Announcement …. “‘Tis The Season … “

ON A LIGHTER NOTE

I’m going to be away from this spot, “It Is What It Is“, for a few days. I won’t have full access to a PC or laptop.

I still have the capacity to keep an eye on what happens in the blogosphere while I’m away.

I’m not able to just disconnect, particularly with what is going on in our world at this time.

There are so many problems, issues, conflicts, injustices, bigotry, destruction, killing, wars ….. We need to stay informed and educated about “happenings“.

I will leave you today with a message.

As noted above, we won’t find peace until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, as Mr. Sweitzer noted.

To take a walk in my shoes.

With an eye to detail,
Please observe and peruse
My choice through these eyes
Instead of your tainted views.

In fact, forget the offer,
Rather I plainly request
That you live a life like mine –

Before you decide to judge

A Response To Kendall Jones ….. “The Truth About Hunting”!!

Born and raised in the outdoors of the great State of Texas

I grew up in the small town of Cleburne, Texas where my hunting career started.

As a child I would go with my dad on all of his hunting adventures watching him on our ranch, as well as, traveling to Africa to see him take his Big 5. I took my first trip to Zimbabwe in Africa with my family in 2004 (age 9) and watched my dad bring many animals home. As badly as I wanted to shoot something I was just too small to hold the guns my dad had brought.

I became fascinated with the culture over there and visited one of the elementary schools to deliver candy, coloring books and soccer balls to the under privileged children. This was an eye opening experience for me to see how other children my age lived in a third world country.

In 2008, (age 13) I took my second trip to Africa to start my Big 5 experience, but this time to South Africa. Although I had many other opportunities to shoot animals I wanted to save it for the Big 5, so the first animal I ever shot was a White Rhino with a .416 Remington!!

On this trip I also took some plains game, such as impala, kudu and mountain reedbuck home.

I have posted information about this young woman before. I don’t happen to agree with her point of view but, hey …. that doesn’t matter to her. 

I found this YouTube video by Erin Janus which I believe explains facts better than I could ever explain them. 

The idea of hunting for preservation is preposterous.

CAN’T GET AWAY FROM THE FACT THAT IT EXISTS

Police brutality is the wanton use of excessive force, usually physical, but also common in forms of verbal attacks and psychological intimidation, by a police officer.

Widespread police brutality exists in many countries, even those that prosecute it. It is one of several forms of police misconduct, which include: false arrest; intimidation; racial profiling; political repression; surveillance abuse;sexual abuse; and police corruption.

However, as aforementioned, it may involve physical force but never reaching death under police custody. Although illegal, it can be done under the color of law.
