Into the Woods is a 2014 American fantasy musical drama film directed by Rob Marshall, and adapted to the screen by James Lapine from his and Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning Broadway musical of the same name.
It features an ensemble cast that includes Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski, Lilla Crawford, Daniel Huttlestone, MacKenzie Mauzy, Billy Magnussen, and Johnny Depp. Inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales of “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Cinderella”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, and “Rapunzel”.
The film is a fantasy genre crossover centered on a childless couple, who set out to end a curse placed on them by a vengeful witch. Ultimately, the characters are forced to rectify the consequences of their actions.
Everyone has heard of the Disney movie ‘Into The Woods’ which played in end of 2014 at a theater near you. Now Lindsey Stirling has released her violin version of the Into The Woods song.
We are loving the video as it brings out Lindsey in various characters such as Rapunzel, Cinderella and Red Riding Hood.The direction is done among the story lines of those characters, and some good scenic shots are incorporated. Its a Disney production and part of the Into The Woods Bonus features, as the grapevine tells us.
Of note, Lindsey Stirling is a recording artist, instrumentalist and notable Disney interpretive performer whose new album SHATTER ME is now available to order as well as a PBS concert special titled LIVE FROM LONDON airing throughout the Spring on several PBS stations across the country.
Lindsey shares “I had so much fun getting to dress up as princesses and dance around castles. And it’s just been awesome.”
And we are having fun listening and watching it, with over a million views within a week of its release!

André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu (born 1 October 1949) is a Dutch violinist and conductor best known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra have turned classical and waltz music into a worldwide concert touring music act, as successful as some of the biggest global pop and rock music acts.
I think you can tell that I am an ardent Lindsey Stirling fan. I found out about her when I saw here “Elements” YouTube video. I have been following her since. I was once told that she started in “America’s Got Talent” but I’ve never followed that show.
Here what happened during her participation in that reality show.
Raised in a Mormon community in Arizona, Lindsey studied classical music rigorously as a teenager. Lindsey’s love for the violin would not let go, and it became a comfort throughout her struggle with an eating disorder during her early adulthood. Through this passion, Lindsey has created a music world where the romance of Celtic folk music and modern classical meet the infectious energy of dance and electronica.
On stage, Stirling moves with the grace of a ballerina but works the crowd into a frenzy, “dropping the beat” like a rave fairy. Stirling is the model of a modern independent recording artist, with a symbiotic relationship with her fans. She is famed for taking “requests” and has recorded unique versions of the themes from “Phantom Of The Opera” and “Game Of Thrones”, the computer games “Zelda,” “Pokemon,” and “Skyrim,” as well as pop songs by Michael Jackson and Rihanna; She uploads them all to Lindseystomp, a secondary YouTube channel packed with music videos and short comedy films, many featuring her alter-ego – a ‘superfan’ named Phelba.
Audition
Lindsey Stirling’s audition in Episode 510 consisted of playing the violin in a hip-hop style. Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel all voted “Yes,” sending Lindsey to the Vegas Round.

After the Show
Being voted off “America’s Got Talent” turned out to be what she considers the best thing that’s ever happened to her. Rejection simply strengthened Stirling’s resolve to be herself. “The same reasons I was told I wouldn’t succeed are the reasons people travel hundreds of miles to see me now,” she laughs. “Because it’s different. Because it’s something you haven’t seen before …”
Since the show, Lindsey has flourished as an artist.
A classically trained violinist from Gilbert, AZ, Lindsey has entered a futurist world of electronic big beats and animation, leaping through the music industry with over 675 million views on YouTube, Billboard chart-topping hits and sold out tours worldwide.
Lindsey’s self-titled debut album featured twelve original tracks; including the viral piece “Crystallize,” which has racked up over 97 million YouTube views.

Angelika, is my oldest grand-daughter, you may have seen her here a few times. She is 9 years old.
She loves music, as much as I do. She’s been keeping me up to date with some of the new songs that are coming out. She knows the songs but doesn’t know the performer most of the time. I’ve trying to teach her it’s important to also know who is singing. Very frequently, we use the “Shazam” app to identify the singer/band.
Last night we were looking at two music posts where I used videos by Lindsey Stirling: “Dragon Age: Inquisition” and “Assassin’s Creed”. She surprised me by asking: “have you seen another one by Lindsey called “Master of Tides“?
I hadn’t. We looked it up together and here I’m presenting it to you.

For her new music video, Master of Tides, Lindsey Stirling wanted to do something different. The director of the video, Mike Greene, set up a spontaneous live performance and recorded the footage as Stirling’s new music video.
Those who were present in the Americana Mall Square in Glendale, CA witnessed the video and had no idea before the performance that something like this was going to take place.
Stirling combined many ideas for the creation of this video. She had a pirate themed performance with a fountain show, pyro guns, and background dancers that were dressed to look like pirates and sirens. Suzanne Bernel, Cirque Berzerk Director and Stylist remarked about the costumes and the problems the dancers had, saying,
The biggest challenge in the spontaneous performance was designing these beautiful elaborate costumes, some that had some weight and some structure to them and then having to have them be covered up. And the make up too, is how do you have someone in elaborate, Poseidon/sea siren makeup and having to cover that up to where they just look like a shopper at the mall.
Some of the challenges that the crew faced were dancing and performing stunts on a wet surface, incorporating new moves into the routine that Stirling had never done before, and designing costumes and make up that could be disguised easily to fit in with the crowd.
Stirling concluded the performance by mentioning
The reason I’ve always wanted to do a spontaneous performance is because you get to surprise people; you get to make people, hopefully, make people smile that weren’t expecting this. And I’m looking forward to hopefully, you know, making a memorable night for someone tonight.
I’m not a gamer, nor do I follow any of them. I must confess that I have no clue about the games that are mentioned below. I do follow Lindsey Stirling … I believe she has great talent, chemistry and artistic presence.

If you’ve ever wanted to watch an incredibly-talented violinist destroy a High Dragon with just the power of her music, then you should probably watch Lindsey Stirling magic her away through the main theme from Dragon Age: Inquisition.
From Malukah to Taylor Davis, gamers are some of the most musical fans in geek culture.
Lindsey Stirling is one of the most popular of these musicians, using her violin skills to take music from games like Halo and Assassin’s Creed III to stunning new levels through the way she plays and the way she produces her YouTube videos.
There’s no better example of this than her latest cover of the main theme from BioWare’s new Dragon Age: Inquisition. Not only does she give a great performance, but with the help of digital studio Everdream she’s even able to take on a dragon with her violin. Stirling posted the video online Tuesday, coinciding with Inquisition’s release, and it’s already been viewed more than a million times.
Perhaps it should come as no surprise that video game music inspires musicians in this way. The produces of many iconic game soundtracks wanted to engross gamers and get them emotionally involved with the story. Dragon Age’s music is no exception. Still, it’s always amazing to see fans use their talents to give audio tracks their own unique spin.

“Yellow Flicker Beat” is a song by New Zealand recording artist Lorde. Written by Lorde and Joel Little and produced by Paul Epworth, the song was released on 29 September 2014 as the lead single from the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 by Republic Records. “Yellow Flicker Beat“, which features an electronic production, is characterised as an art pop and electropop song. Its style was compared to that of Lorde’s earlier releases such as her song “Biting Down” from The Love Club EP (2013) and her debut studio album Pure Heroine (2013).
The lyrics of the track reference the rise of The Hunger Games ’ heroine Katniss Everdeen.

Lindsey Stirling dances with a roundhouse kick in new ‘Roundtable Rival‘ video
She released the official music video for “Roundtable Rival” on Oct. 20, 2014.
“Roundtable Rival” is her experimental track that meshes country fiddle with both rock and dubstep. The video is set in the Wild West with Stirling as a barmaid, wearing goggles.
When outlaw, Durango Black, comes into town, he sets off to rob the First National Bank … with his guitar. The sound waves coming from his riffs as so powerful that it blows people away. Stirling defends her turf by grabbing her violin and throwing down her own music.
This will echo the sentiments of Charlie Daniels Band’s “A Devil Went Down to Georgia”. The dance off and music showdown ends with Stirling as the hero, because the good always prevail.
A sweet way to end the day ….. lay back, listen and relax.
Ikuko Kawai, born January 19, 1968 in Takamatsu, is a classically trained Japanese violinist and composer.
She has performed internationally, including invitational appearances with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and renowned conductor Chung Myung-Whun. Kawai Ikuko performed in New York at her first Carnegie Hall concert at Zankel Hall on October 4, 2008.
Kawai has recorded numerous CDs and performance videos which have been released both in Japan and internationally.
In addition to her work as a classical artist, she has worked in popular music with American artists of different genres, including Sheila E. and the Gipsy Kings. She has also appeared as an actress in a Japanese television series.
Kawai Ikuko currently holds a professorship at the Osaka University of Fine Arts and Music. In honor of her artistry, Kawai has been loaned the use of the University’s 1715 Stradivarius violin. (The 1715 Stradivarius is known as one of the greatest works of Antonio Stradivari’s “golden period”.) She has also played a Francesco Ruggieri violin which was also loaned by Osaka University. Formerly, she played the Guarneri del Gesu (Muntz), loaned in grandis agnitio from the Nippon Foundation.
Stamatis Spanoudakis (born December 11, 1948 in Athens, Greece) is a modern Greek classical composer. Early on he studied classical guitar. He went through a rock music phase, but then continued classical studies at the Würzburg State Conservatory with Bertold Hummel and later in Athens with Konstantinos Kydoniatis. Later on he studied Byzantine music.
“Stamatis Spanoudakis is widely regarded as the most prolific Greek composer of his age. Versatile in his music for film, television, records and concerts, he uses a rich and original musical palette that conjures up different perceptions in the sphere of musical imagery.
He explores both tragic and dramatic experiences with an eye and an ear for the musical representation of the perennial dilemmas and joys faced by mankind both in the past and present. To date, Stamatis has written concert works for rock groups, string orchestra, soloists and chorus. Future plans include compositions for wind, brass, tympani and percussion, adding to his fulsome output.
Concerts, including those at the George Enescu Hall (Bucharest), the Royal Albert Hall (London), and Beijin in China have proven his international reputation and set the seal on this remarkable artist’s achievement in bringing his unique brand of Greek music to the widest possible audience.
