I’LL BE AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS

I’m going away for a bit.

There’s a trip I’m going on.

I’m going back home for a few days.

I won’t be able to post as usual. I won’t be able to reblog either … my phone and my iPad don’t have the ‘reblog button’ anymore.

Don’t know why!

Anyway, I will be looking in every so often to check up on my dear friends.

I will miss all of you.

On the morning of Wednesday, September 20, 2017, Hurricane María struck Puerto Rico, devastating the island and plunging all of its 3.4 million residents into a desperate humanitarian crisis.

I will never forget.

I’m going to see family and friends.

I want to drive around and see what is happening 8 months after this disaster.

WE ALL KNOW THE MEANING OF THIS DATE

Independence Day, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago on July 4, 1776.

There’s always been a big celebration for this special American holiday.

I’m finding it difficult to get in the spirit of things.

I believe that there’s a collective sense of depression in this country since November 2016.

My therapist and I talk plenty about this topic. 

It’s been interesting and, not totally surprising, that two respectable, knowledgeable and amazing fellow bloggers have posted to the effect that this year the sense of euphoria, happiness and celebration has dimmed significantly.

I join them in that feeling.

I thought is was only me and it’s somewhat redeeming that others may share my feelings.

Sane Americans who possess a sense of empathy, compassion, pride, accomplishment, morality, and so much more, may feel the same.

FINALLY FREE

The long awaited day has arrived.

His sentence was commuted by President Obama in January 2017.

He was released home then under home arrest.

Home arrest ends today.

He’s a totally free man … to walk the soil of his beloved island, Puerto Rico, without any restrictions!

Outgoing U.S. President Barack Obama commuted Lopez’ sentence in January 2017. He was sent home then but under the condition that he remain under house arrest.

Expired today, May 17, according to a list of commutations announced by the White House.

Puerto Rico’s independence leader and longest held political prisoner in the U.S. from Latin America will be free.

The United States government announced Tuesday the release of Oscar Lopez Rivera, who has been imprisoned in the U.S. for 36 years for his struggle to free Puerto Rico from U.S. colonial rule.

Oscar López Rivera is now a former US held Puerto Rican political prisoner of war.

LGBTQ Americans are in a state of urgent need: an administration actively hostile to the community now occupies the White House; homophobic and transphobic hate crimes have spiked following the election; over 130 laws attacking LGBTQ rights are pending in state legislatures around the country; and the one-year anniversary of the horrific Pulse shooting in Orlando is fast approaching. In this difficult climate, Give OUT Day, a national day of giving for the LGBTQ community, will once again coordinate a 24-hour online fundraising event to support over 300 LGBTQ organizations across all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.

Michael Moore was in for a surprise during the Women’s March on Washington on Saturday when Ashley Judd interrupted him to read a politically charged poem

“I am Ashley Judd,” she declared as Moore reacted in shock, “and I am a feminist.”

She proceeded to recite a poem written by a 19-year-old named Nina Donovan from Tennessee. The contents of the writing included references to Trump’s election, mass incarceration, LGBT rights, the wage gap, and more relevant issues.

At one point, the poem compares Trump to Adolf Hitler.

The poem repeated the refrain “I am not as nasty as…”

at one point attacking Trump’s relationship with his daughter, Ivanka.

He campaigned on the huge crowd sizes, but the turnout for the inauguration of President Donald Trump appears to be smaller than that of his predecessor as measured by side-by-side photos of the two events.
It’s hard to gauge crowd sizes and the National Park Service, which oversees the National Mall, doesn’t offer estimates of any sort.
But the side-by-side images of Friday’s ceremony alongside the 2009 inauguration of President Barack Obama show a significantly smaller crowd on the National Mall for Trump than for Obama.

DARK INAUGURATION BUT LEAVE TV’S ON

ATTENTION!

HELPFUL INFORMATION!
There’s a lot of talk about people NOT watching the inauguration.

The Grabber will be checking his ratings, and many may not know the way that the TV shows are rated.
To keep his rating LOW, you must have your television turned ON, but NOT tuned into any channel showing ANY inauguration coverage.

If you don’t turn your TV on, his ratings will show higher because of the percentage of sets tuned in. So set up all your televisions to the geographic channel or cooking channel! Anything that is not covering the inauguration, basically!

Television must be on, but NOT tuned into channels covering Trump.
