ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES IN THE WORLD
Downtown Mt. Dora .. Donnelly Street
Mount Dora is a U.S. city in Lake County, Florida. As of 2011, the United States Census Bureau estimates the Mount Dora population at 12,534.
A post office called Mount Dora has been in operation since 1883. The community was named for Dora A. Drawdy, an early settler.
Mount Dora is home to several wonderful parks and nature preserves.
Palm Island Park
Mt. Dora’s best site for birding is Palm Island Park, accessed by a long boardwalk out to a peninsula along Lake Dora canopied by ancient live oaks and tall palms.
A 1.3-mile nature trail at Trimble Park near Mount Dora offers a family-friendly outdoor adventure beneath ancient oaks and cypresses along the shorelines of two lakes
Grantham Point Park
Located on Tremain Street across from Gilbert Park on Lake Dora, Grantham Point Park is sometimes referred to as “Lighthouse Park”. The 35 foot lighthouse was dedicated on March 25, 1988. Built of bricks covered with stucco, the lighthouse stands sentry over the Port of Mount Dora. Its 750-watt photocell powers a blue pulsator sending out a guiding light to all boaters navigating Lake Dora after dusk. The Mount Dora Light is the only inland freshwater lighthouse in Florida.
Just over the town line in Eustis is Hidden Waters Preserve with trails that lead you deep into a very large sinkhole, Hidden Waters Preserve offers a fascinating hike with elevation changes, small water cascade, and interesting terrain.

~IN HER OWN WORDS~
“IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”
