The Ambassador of Conscience Award celebrates individuals and groups who have furthered the cause of human rights through acts of conscience, confronting injustice and using their talents to inspire others.

The USA is a country where people can freely disrespect the flag using it as a thong, underwear, condom, disposable plates, bras, napkins, etc. but people got a heart attack just because he kneeled down silently and that is so “disrespectful” to the flag.

Really?

Kneeling down is a form of respect and humbling yourself before someone.

The award was officially presented at a ceremony in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on 21 April 2018, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the opening of Amnesty International’s national section in the country.

Gilbert Baker (June 2, 1951 – March 31, 2017) was an openly gay American artist and civil rights activist who designed the rainbow flag in 1978. Baker’s flag became widely associated with LGBT rights causes, a symbol of pride that became ubiquitous in the decades since its debut.

The colors on the Rainbow Flag reflect the diversity of the LGBT community.

When Baker raised the first rainbow flags at San Francisco Pride (his group raised two flags at the Civic Center) on June 25, 1978, it had eight colors, each with a symbolic meaning:

Hot Pink: sexuality
Red: life
Orange: healing
Yellow: sunlight
Green: nature
Turquoise: magic/art
Blue: serenity/harmony
Violet: spirit

Michael Moore was in for a surprise during the Women’s March on Washington on Saturday when Ashley Judd interrupted him to read a politically charged poem

“I am Ashley Judd,” she declared as Moore reacted in shock, “and I am a feminist.”

She proceeded to recite a poem written by a 19-year-old named Nina Donovan from Tennessee. The contents of the writing included references to Trump’s election, mass incarceration, LGBT rights, the wage gap, and more relevant issues.

At one point, the poem compares Trump to Adolf Hitler.

The poem repeated the refrain “I am not as nasty as…”

at one point attacking Trump’s relationship with his daughter, Ivanka.

Muhammad Ali, the silver-tongued boxer and civil rights champion who famously proclaimed himself “The Greatest” and then spent a lifetime living up to the billing, is dead.

Ali died Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital, where he had spent the past few days being treated for respiratory complications, a family spokesman confirmed to NBC News.

He was 74.

After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening,” Bob Gunnell, a family spokesman, told NBC News.

Ali had suffered for three decades from Parkinson’s, a progressive neurological condition that slowly robbed him of both his verbal grace and his physical dexterity. A funeral service is planned in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

People Outraged Over the “Democratic Whore” Comment Made at Bernie Sanders’s Rally

Bernie Sanders is distancing himself from comments made by one of his surrogates at a rally at Washington Square Park on Wednesday night.

Dr. Paul Song is a physician and activist for universal healthcare, and before Sanders took the stage in New York City, Song told the crowd:

“Medicare for all will never happen if we continue to elect corporate Democratic whores, who are beholden to big pharma and the private-insurance industry instead of us,” according to NPR.

After pressure to denounce Song’s “whore” comment came from many Hillary Clinton supporters, including her communications director, Sanders tweeted that the comment was “inapporpriate and insensitive.”

“Most Memorable Year”

Dear friends, readers and followers, DWTS has returned to TV.

This is one of my favorite shows.

There are several interesting competitors in this season.

One of my favorites is Nyle DiMarco.

If you haven’t been following this participant, it’s interesting to note that Nyle is completely deaf. Peta has been creating choreography for him using specific signals, the sense of touch and visual cues.

It’s remarkable to see this handsome, young man dancing as well as he’s done so far.

Nyle DiMarco and his pro partner Peta Murgatroyd do a tango together on week three of Dancing with the Stars on Monday, April 4.

The pair did a tango to “Verge” by Owl City and Aloe Blacc during the Most Memorable Year week on the show.

Overall, Nyle and Peta received a score of 25 points out of 30 from the judging panel. It was the top score of the night!

Their routine got them a standing ovation on the “Most Memorable Year”-themed show. Watch the video below.

DiMarco said the most memorable year was 2012, because it was “the year I traveled the world” all by himself, without an interpreter. He noted he comes from a family that’s four generations of deaf people, and “I needed to get away to know myself.” DiMarco added that he’s “not sure where my fearlessness comes from,” but he’s happy that he has it.

Nyle DiMarco (born May 8, 1989) is an American model, actor, and activist.

In 2015, he won the 22nd season of America’s Next Top Model and has so far been the only deaf contestant to ever compete on the show. He is currently a celebrity contestant on season 22 of Dancing with the Stars in 2016.

DiMarco was born in Queens, New York. He comes from a deaf family with his parents, both of his brothers, and his grandparents all born deaf. His parents divorced when he was young and his mother raised the children alone.

He grew up in Frederick, Maryland, and graduated from Gallaudet University with a degree in mathematics. DiMarco lives in New York City. American Sign Language (ASL) is his native language and he is also proficient in lip reading and nonverbal communication.

DiMarco does not consider himself to be disabled by deafness and sees his media profile as an opportunity to bring awareness to Deaf culture. He views deafness as an advantage in modeling because he is accustomed to conveying messages without speaking. He also holds the belief that deaf roles should be played by deaf actors.

DiMarco said he is a spokesperson for LEAD-K (Language Equality and Acquisition for Deaf Kids). He is a signer and creative collaborator on The ASL App, an app that teaches conversational ASL.

On International Women’s Day, share your aspiration with the world

Over the years, Doodles have commemorated the achievements of women in science, civil rights, journalism, sports, arts, technology and beyond. It’s always an honor to pay tribute to women who have changed the course of history, sometimes in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

But for this year’s International Women’s Day, we wanted to celebrate the Doodle-worthy women of the future.

So we gathered our cameras and pencils and visited 13 countries where we spoke to 337 women and girls and asked them to complete the sentence,

“One day I will …”

From toddlers to grandmothers, the women in San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Lagos, Moscow, Cairo, Berlin, London, Paris, Jakarta, Bangkok, New Delhi and Tokyo all sparkled with personality. Each new city brought more “One day I will”s, more signature dance moves, more hugs, more high-fives.

The aspirations we heard were as varied as the women and girls who shared them, from the very personal – swim with pigs in the Bahamas – to the very global – give a voice to those who can’t speak -and everything in between. When it was done, we found that our own “One day I will…”s had grown bigger and richer, inspired by the women we had met.

Over the years, Doodles have marked the achievements of women in science, civil rights, journalism, sports, arts, technology and beyond. But for our 2016 International Women’s Day Doodle, we wanted to celebrate the next generation of Doodle-worthy women—the engineers, educators, leaders, movers and shakers of tomorrow.

So we visited 13 cities around the world and asked 337 girls and women to complete the sentence “One Day I Will …” Then, we made this video.

From San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Lagos, Moscow, Cairo, Berlin, London, Paris, Jakarta, Bangkok, New Delhi and Tokyo, the women we met make up a diverse mosaic of personalities, ages and backgrounds. And their aspirations are just as varied—ranging from the global to the very personal, from discovering more digits of pi to becoming a mother to giving a voice to those who can’t speak.

We also asked some more familiar figures to participate, including anthropologist Jane Goodall – who wants to discuss the environment with the Pope – and Nobel Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai and activist Muzoon Almellehan, who are working fearlessly toward a future where every girl can go to school. Despite already impressive accomplishments under their belts, these women continue to dream big.

Berta Isabel Cáceres Flores (4 March 1973 – 3 March 2016) was a Honduran environmental activist and indigenous leader of the Lenca people and co-founder and coordinator of the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH).

She won the Goldman Environmental Prize in 2015.

She was killed in her home by armed intruders, after years of threats against her life.

Cáceres was born in La Esperanza (Intibucá). She grew up surrounded by the violence of Central America in the 1970’s, and with a role model of humanitarianism in her own home – her mother, Berta Flores, was a midwife and social activist who took in refugees from El Salvador and cared for them.

She studied education at university and graduated with a teaching qualification.
