Making up facts that didn’t occur and not knowing your history

The phrase alternate reality often serves as a synonym for a parallel universe.

It may also refer to Alternate universe (fan fiction), fiction by fan authors that deliberately alters facts of the canonical universe they are writing about

The “Bowling Green Massacre” is a nonexistent incident referred to by U.S. Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway in interviews with Cosmopolitan and TMZ on January 29, 2017, and in an interview on the television news program Hardball with Chris Matthews on February 2, 2017.

Conway cited the “massacre” as justification for a travel and immigration ban from seven Muslim-majority countries enacted by United States President Drumpf.

However, no such massacre ever occurred.

Frederick Douglass (1818-95) was a prominent American abolitionist, author and orator. Born a slave, Douglass escaped at age 20 and went on to become a world-renowned anti-slavery activist.

His three autobiographies are considered important works of the slave narrative tradition as well as classics of American autobiography.

Douglass’ work as a reformer ranged from his abolitionist activities in the early 1840’s to his attacks on Jim Crow and lynching in the 1890’s. For 16 years he edited an influential black newspaper and achieved international fame as an inspiring and persuasive speaker and writer. In thousands of speeches and editorials, he levied a powerful indictment against slavery and racism, provided an indomitable voice of hope for his people, embraced antislavery politics and preached his own brand of American ideals.

LOOK UP, LOOK AROUND

I was on my way home tonight. The red light came on and I glanced to the car next to mine. There were two people in it. Both were looking at the electronic devices. I assume their cell phones. Some thoughts came to mind.

Everywhere I see human beings looking down

Doesn’t matter what age, doesn’t matter which gender

It’s always a technology device looked at

Be it a belligerent child

Be it a bored adult.

Look up, look around

Life is passing by you.

Missing all experiences, missing all the beauty

Missing everyday miracles as they happen

Stuck in a technology cell …. that’s why it’s called a “cell” phone.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability.
