Mary Louise “Meryl” Streep (born June 22, 1949) is an American actress of stage and screen, and philanthropist. Cited in the media as the “best actress of her generation” – a designation to which she objects – Streep is particularly known for her versatility in her roles, transformation into the characters she plays, and her accent adaptation.

This is a list of awards and nominations for Meryl Streep. Streep has been recognized with multiple awards and nominations for her work in film, television, and music.

She holds the record for the most Academy Award nominations of any actor, having been nominated 20 times since her first nomination in 1979 for her performance in The Deer Hunter (sixteen for Best Actress and four for Best Supporting Actress). She holds eight more nominations than both Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson, who are tied in second place. With her third Oscar win for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady (2011) in 2012, Streep became the fifth actor to win three competitive acting Academy Awards, after Walter Brennan, Katharine Hepburn (who has four in total), Ingrid Bergman, and Jack Nicholson. Daniel Day-Lewis has since become the sixth actor to achieve this.

She was a true intellectual.

She will be missed dearly. Her great sense of humor will forever be remembered.

Carrie Frances Fisher (October 21, 1956 – December 27, 2016) was an American actress, writer, producer, and humorist.

She was the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds.

Fisher was best known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars film series. Her other film roles included Shampoo (1975), The Blues Brothers (1980), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The ‘Burbs (1989), and When Harry Met Sally … (1989).

Fisher was also known for her semi-autobiographical novels, including Postcards from the Edge and the screenplay for the film of the same name, as well as her autobiographical one-woman play and its nonfiction book, Wishful Drinking, based on the show.

She additionally served as a script doctor, working on other writers’ screenplays. In later years, she earned praise for speaking publicly about her experiences with bipolar disorder and drug addiction.

Fisher died at the age of 60 on December 27, 2016, four days after going into cardiac arrest near the end of a transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles.

MERYL STREEP

Mary Louise “Meryl” Streep (born June 22, 1949) is an American actress. A three-time Academy Award winner, she is widely regarded as one of the greatest film actors of all time.

Streep made her professional stage debut in The Playboy of Seville in 1971, and went on to receive a 1976 Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play for A Memory of Two Mondays/27 Wagons Full of Cotton.

She made her screen debut in the 1977 television film The Deadliest Season, and made her film debut later that same year in Julia. In 1978, she won an Emmy Award for her role in the miniseries Holocaust, and received her first Academy Award nomination for The Deer Hunter.

Nominated for 19 Academy Awards in total, Streep has more nominations than any other actor or actress in history, winning Best Supporting Actress for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), and Best Actress for Sophie’s Choice (1982) and for The Iron Lady (2011).

Streep is one of only six actors to have won three or more competitive Academy Awards for acting.

To start the day …. “Alexa and Derek’s Tango: Switch Up Night”!!

HAPPY SWITCH-UP NIGHT

The competition is heating up.

Last night was almost perfect.

The switch up proved to be the needed push for most competitors to step up their game.

You may know I am very partial to Bindi Irwin.

Alexa and Derek received the first perfect score of this season.

They did a great job.

Honor where honor is due.

It was the nuttiest week of the Dancing with the Stars season as all of the stars traded partners for one night of total insanity. Or at least that’s how it usually is.

Last night, October 12, 2015,  was actually great, and a lot less of a mess up than the switch-up often is. There were some truly incredible dances tonight, including the season’s first perfect score from a slightly unexpected pair!

While both Bindi Irwin and Carlos PenaVega totally rocked their routines with respective temporary partners Val Chmerkovskiy and Lindsay Arnold, it was Alexa PenaVega and Derek Hough who blew the roof off the place with their epic tango and scored a standing ovation from Carrie Ann Inaba (even if she thought it was a paso doble) and perfect tens from all four judges, including guest judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Carol Creighton Burnett (born April 26, 1933) is an American actress, comedian, singer, and writer. She is best known for her long-running TV variety show, The Carol Burnett Show, for CBS. She has achieved success on stage, television, and film in varying genres including dramatic and comedy roles.

After a difficult childhood in San Antonio, Texas with alcoholic parents, Burnett discovered acting and comedy in college. She performed in nightclubs in New York City and had a breakout success on Broadway in 1959 inOnce Upon a Mattress, for which she received a Tony Award nomination. She soon made her television debut, regularly appearing on The Garry Moore Show for the next three years, and won her first Emmy Award in 1962.

Burnett moved to Los Angeles, California and began an 11-year run as star of The Carol Burnett Show on CBS television from 1967 to 1978. With its vaudeville roots, The Carol Burnett Show was a variety show that combined comedy sketches with song and dance. The comedy sketches included film parodies and character pieces. Burnett created many memorable characters during the show’s television run, and both she and the show won numerous Emmy and Golden Globe Awards.

Roseanne Cherrie Barr (born November 3, 1952) is an American actress, comedian, writer, television producer, director, and 2012 presidential nominee of the California-based Peace and Freedom Party.

Barr began her career in stand-up comedy at clubs before gaining fame for her role in the sitcom Roseanne. The show was a hit and lasted nine seasons, from 1988 to 1997. She won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her work on the show.
