As a major institution in society, the media play a critical role
They provide us with definitions about who we are as a nation; they reinforce our values and norms; they give us concrete examples of what happens to those who transgress these norms; and most importantly, they perpetuate certain ways of seeing the world and peoples within that world.
Media and Racism: How then do the media perpetuate racism?
The media do not stand in isolation from the society on which they report. In fact, they are an integral part of society.
They utilize the same stock of knowledge that is part of that pool of “common sense” which informs all of our lives. It is common sense to expect punishment if one has committed a crime; it is common sense to have a system of law and order; it is common sense that some people will make more money than others.
This pool of common sense knowledge is a reservoir of all our unstated, taken-for-granted assumptions about the world we live in. It is filled with historical traces of previous systems of thought and belief structures.
Calls campaign ‘hateful’ and his ideas ‘appalling.’
Donald Trump is in the sights of hacktivist collective Anonymous again.
On March 4th the group posted a video declaring “total war” on the presidential candidate. It hopes to not only bring down many of Trump’s sites, but also halt his presidential bid by uncovering and exposing embarrassing information. “We need you to shut down his campaign and sabotage his brand,” said a Guy Fawkes-masked individual in the video.
Trump has been targeted because according to the masked activist, “your inconsistent and hateful campaign has not only shocked the United States America, you have shocked the entire planet with your appalling actions and ideas.”
Using the #OpTrump hashtag, the collective is asking for help to bring down TrumpChicago.com on April 1st. It also plans to target personal and business sites like donaldjtrump.com, trump.com, trumphotelcollection.com and the candidate’s online presidential destinations including donaldtrump2016online.com and citizensfortrump.com.

The collective has already posted unverified personal information about Trump and staff, including his social security number.
This is the second time Trump has been targeted by the group. Anonymous posted a message to the candidate in 2015 regarding his comments about Muslims.
Do you want to know the truth about the current fiscal situation of Puerto Rico?
The video posted below explains it very clearly.
This is a crisis which has been on the making for more than 100 years.
The situation is dire and it seems that there’s no solution to it.
More and more, special interests and billionaires are postured to fly in, like vultures, and fight over the remnants of a beautiful country, my country.
Something needs to be done … quickly. Time is running out.
Dare we hope for a solution that will benefit the people of this country?
“It has come to our attention, that despite the request for austerity measures in the government spending, you have decided to disregard the voice and well being of the people of territory of Puerto Rico and persist to run a political status in an attempt to only benefit yourselves and your buddies operating in the territory.
The citizens of the territory of Puerto Rico requested a radical change in political status and attitude towards leadership and insisted that you serve the people rather than control them.
The current political party in power vowed for a change in politics.
That was the main reason you won the elections in 2012.
Instead, you came to power ignoring those requests and collapsed the bonds market and pension funds. Imposed new taxes, increased the cost of electricity, water, sales taxes and pushed austerity measures upon the people.
You manipulated an economic recession into a economic contraction.
Creating the of thousands of citizens out of the territory.
You bankrupted the government finances and now you come telling the people that we are all in together.
Meanwhile, you are giving the island away to the wealthy investors from out of town and avoiding austerity measures yourselves.
Now, you claimed the government debt can not be paid, due to your own lack of financial responsibility for the past years. Before you make that decision, you should take a look at the outcome from not paying your debt.
Go back in time and look what happened in Argentina in early 2000’s. And take a look what is going on in Greece today. Total collapse in their financial banking systems, social chaos and hunger.
It that what you want for your citizens?
Clearly the system has failed us. Unemployment has skyrocket. Proven with evidence, people get more benefits from welfare that from working.
Enough is enough.
There are ways to pay the government debt and avoid this upcoming turmoil. Clearly those are not the government intentions.
But the question is: Who is benefiting from this decision? You disregard the request of the people and continue to operate for your own benefits and gains.
The revolution has begun.

We claim to resolve our political status and full transparency in all financial transactions from now on. We request government cuts in all areas. It’s size and all it’s spending. We stand firm in our right for a government for the people by the people.
Actions must speak louder that words.
We must see austerity in all aspect of the governmental branches as soon as of today. In case you disregard our claims for change, you are only ignoring the voice of the people who voted for you in the first place.
You are making an enemy out of us and we will stand united at your oppression.”

We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
We are legion.
Expect us.

“If Puerto Rico were a state, there wouldn’t be any question about it,” Jeffrey Farrow, a former adviser on Puerto Rico policy to President Bill Clinton, said of the island’s mounting debt crisis. “If it were a nation, it wouldn’t have to worry about US federal rules, and then it could try to develop its own economy.”
But Puerto Rico is neither a state nor a country.
It’s technically a commonwealth, a status given to it in 1950 by the US government, which allowed it to draft a constitution and elect its own officials. But even its commonwealth status is unique.
Virginia, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky are all commonwealths, but they have the full power of states.
That’s not the case for this island of 3.6 million, which is, essentially, a colony, subject to the full control of the US Congress. The nature of its relationship with the federal government has left it with few options as it grapples with $72 billion in outstanding obligations that its governor, Alejandro García Padilla, says is “not payable.”
I’m pretty sure that’s why social networks were invented.
I’m pretty sure that’s why BuzzFeed and Kim Kardashian have colossal followings. That’s why there are soap operas, One Direction and Kanye West.
They’re entertaining. They’re distracting.
But for Christ’s sake, it has come to a boiling point. Over the color of a fucking dress. And two llamas on the loose.
It goes without question that the Internet is fucking great. Its unprecedented in its ability to connect the world, to share stories, and to hook-up based on your location or engage in shallow-as-a-kiddy-pool vanity via Tinder, for Anonymous and Wikileaks to hold governments accountable and for us to all come out in droves to adamantly debate the color of a dress.
By allowing yourself to become distracted by fad issues, you effectively allow the Internet to become an instrument of control.
“IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”
“Sometimes in life we have to end relationships that we would rather not end. When we truly have loved someone with everything inside of us, letting go of that person does not even seem reasonable. Sometimes we just have to let go of that person or situation because that pain is taking us farther away from our life’s pursuit of happiness, whether you realize when you need to or not.
In order to let go we must first let go emotionally. Crying and laughing are some good ways to let go of the past, using each tear to remove the emotional pain, and each laugh to spark a feeling of happiness. We must forgive and release any ill feelings towards anyone involved into what we just let go of. Last but not least we must remember to bless whoever was involved in whatever situation we let go of, and not to hold any negative feelings towards them, as this will take you farther in life than you may ever know.”
“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.” ~~C. JoyBell C.~~

“There will be a few times in your life when all your instincts will tell you to do something, something that defies logic, upsets your plans, and may seem crazy to others. When that happens, you do it. Listen to your instincts and ignore everything else. Ignore logic, ignore the odds, ignore the complications, and just go for it.” ~~Judith McNaught, Remember When~~

“In everybody’s life there’s a point of no return. And in a very few cases, a point where you can’t go forward anymore. And when we reach that point, all we can do is quietly accept the fact. That’s how we survive.” ~~Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore~~
