I found this statement on Facebook yesterday as I was looking at the many postings about Sen. John McCain’s demise.

We know that there was a feud between these two ‘officials’.

There’s one right side and one correct side to this feud.

I know which one I side with.

“Bear with me as I prognosticate a week or two into the future.

John McCain’s body has lain in state at both the Capitol Rotunda and in Phoenix, and now it’s the day of his funeral. Every broadcast channel and every cable news network will be covering it as the dignitaries file in. Cindy McCain, their daughters, even John McCain’s 106 year old mother are already seated.

There’s McCain’s friend and fellow Vietnam Veteran, ex SecState and near-running mate, John Kerry. Lindsey Graham, of course. All the other current and past Senators and House members. Sarah and Todd Palin will be there, Joe Lieberman.

Then the top military brass.

Fellow vets from his time in the Navy. Then the current and former heads of the FBI, CIA, NSA. Haspel, Hayden, Panetta, Petraeus, Brennan, Pompeo, Tenet, Webster, Gates, Woolsey, Deutch, Goss, Wray, Comey, Mueller, etc.

Then in March the diplomats. Tillerson, Albright, Kissinger, Baker, Powell, Rice. Then the foreign heads of state. Prime Minister Trudeau. Chancellor Merkel. Prime Minister May. President Macron. President Peña Nieto.

In come the past Executives, Bush 41 (maybe), Dan Quayle, Bill & Hillary Clinton. Probably Chelsea too. Al Gore. Bush 43, Laura and their daughters. Dick Cheney. Joe Biden. The crowd is hushed as Barack and Michelle Obama are seated.

The service is absolutely PACKED.

Love him or hate him, everyone who’s anyone in Politik Americana is there to pay their last respects to the “Maverick.” Well, almost everyone.

Meanwhile, back at the White House …

Donald Trump won’t be at the funeral. John McCain left a specific request: He asked for George W. Bush and Barack Obama to eulogize him – and that Donald Trump, current president of these United States, from his own party yet  – NOT attend his funeral.

As far as I know, this is an absolute first in history. And just about as stinging a rebuke as anything I can conceive of. Donald Trump, whose number one drive in life is to be the center of attention whenever possible, will be confined to watching it on television along with the rest of us commoners. He won’t be sitting in the pews alongside his favorite sycophants, Mike Pence, Rand Paul and Devin Nunes, taking in that rarified air, being a part of history.

And the worst part for poor Donald? There’s that loser, Barack Obama, eulogizing McCain … a role traditionally reserved for the *sitting* POTUS. Hey! Aren’t I the POTUS? And OMG! Hillary Clinton is there too! What about her emails!? So unfair!

All this is being broadcast to his base by Fox News, as Donald pops open another Diet Coke and yells obscenities at Melania. Oh, the humanity! Whatever did he do to deserve such an indignity?

How about what DIDN’T he do to deserve it?

Okay, so I’m putting the cart before the horse here. But other than Obama’s roast of Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner seven years ago, I don’t think anything anyone has ever done to Trump will infuriate him as much as this.

Leaving instructions to bar Trump from his funeral is no mere “slight.” This is a personal, calculated statement by a dying man. John McCain, with whom I agreed maybe 10% of the time, really trumped Trump with this one. He won’t show his fury of course, at least not overtly. But he won’t be able to resist expressing it in other ways. By his tweets shalt thou know his wrath.

Well played, Senator. Very well played.

On behalf of a grateful nation, thank you for your service. And for sticking it to this narcissistic fascist for all the world to see, one final and historic time.”

Davidson quit this week after being a youth care worker at the Tucson shelter, Estrella del Norte, for just a few months. He decided to speak out about his experiences there in hopes of improving a system often shielded from public scrutiny. His comments in a telephone interview offer a rare look into the operation of a migrant shelter.
Davidson said he became disillusioned after the Drumpf administration’s “zero tolerance” policy began sending the shelter not only children who had crossed the border unaccompanied by adults, but also those separated from their parents.

Drumpf’s decision to pardon Joe Arpaio has already ignited plenty of controversy – not least because many have taken it as the president encouraging law enforcement to break the law.

As Trevor Noah put it on The Daily Show Monday night, August 28, “Drumpf has been president for seven months – and like a teenage boy with a locked bedroom door, he’s been exploring his new powers.

And this weekend, Drumpf confirmed that he can get someone off all by himself.”

That could have very bad implications for Mueller’s investigation, Noah said:

what if Drumpf simply decides to pardon officials within his Cabinet who are convicted? In Arpaio’s case, Drumpf didn’t even wait for him to be sentenced before issuing a pardon. As Vanity Fair’s Emma Stefansky noted this weekend, that means that Drumpf’s colleagues could simply decide not to cooperate or testify in Mueller’s investigation – under the assurance that Drumpf will pardon them anyway.

And even Noah may find that outcome difficult to joke about.

That means that if McCain happened to be one of his uninsured or under-insured constituents, and not a Senator with his healthcare subsidized by American taxpayers, he might have had to shell out some $76,000 for his surgery – more than the average annual household income in America.

New Spanish-language TV ad in Arizona designed to boost Hispanic voter registration

A first-of-its-kind media campaign launches in Arizona on Wednesday, August 31, in hopes of boosting Hispanic voter registration to historic highs

A new public service announcement co-produced by the state’s largest Spanish-language television and radio stations is set to air roughly 2,500 times through Election Day on Univision and Telemundo television stations and will feature DJ’s and talk show hosts from some of the state’s most popular Spanish-language radio stations, according to organizers.

The campaign is the brainchild of Mi Familia Vota, a nonpartisan voter registration group that is seeking to register roughly 95,000 new Latino voters in six states this year.

While volunteers are rounding up new registrants in California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada and Texas, Arizona is seen as the crown jewel of the effort this year.

That’s because no other state has been on the front lines of the years-long immigration policy fights and Hispanic leaders are eager to demonstrate their community’s growing political clout in the state.

No matter how a new voter registers, Mi Familia Vota is hoping to boost the numbers with its new ad campaign, which stars Spanish-language television and radio news anchors and morning talk show hosts. 

The ad begins with anchors asking whether the viewer is 18 or older and registered to vote. It reminds the viewer that voter registration continues in Arizona through Oct. 10.

“We are extremely proud of our Latino media partners,” said Ben Monterroso, executive director of Mi Familia Vota. “They are making history in an already historic election by continuing to help build political power for the Latino community.”

The campaign is backed by Azteca America; the Phoenix and Tucson affiliates of Univision and Telemundo; Univision-owned radio stations Que Buena 105.9 FM, Mas Variedad 106.3 FM and Latino Mix 100.3 FM; Contacto Total, a Phoenix-area radio station; stations owned by Entravision Radio, including La Tricolor 103.5 FM, Jose 106.9 and 107.1 FM & ESPN 710 AM; Mary Rabago Productions LLC; Mujeres Unicas LLC; Onda 1190-AM; Prensa Hispana; Teleritmo; and UniMás Arizona.

Gisele Bethea is a young ballerina who is a rising star in the world of ballet

She was born on January 31, 1999, and started dancing at the age of four. She admits that she didn’t get serious about ballet until she was 10 years old. At age 14, she was the youngest ever invited to compete and then win a silver medal at the Moscow International Ballet Competition (IBC) in 2013.

She won the Youth Grand Prix Award at the Youth America Grand Prix Finals (student ballet scholarship competition) and competed in the World Ballet Competition USA in 2013. At the USA IBC in 2014, she won a gold medal in the junior division. She received a full scholarship to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre. She also was offered a spot with the American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company. The company dancers usually range in age from 16 to 20. She was only 15. She deferred for one year in order to be able to graduate from high school first. She has been invited to guest perform in Poland, Austria, Turkey, and Brazil during 2015.

Bethea lives in Arizona and studies at the Master Ballet Academy in Scottsdale, where she has studied since she turned 12 years old. She now competes in pas de deux. She is the daughter of John and Heidi Bethea and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I think you can tell that I am an ardent Lindsey Stirling fan. I found out about her when I saw here “Elements” YouTube video. I have been following her since. I was once told that she started in “America’s Got Talent” but I’ve never followed that show. 

Here what happened during her participation in that reality show.

Raised in a Mormon community in Arizona, Lindsey studied classical music rigorously as a teenager. Lindsey’s love for the violin would not let go, and it became a comfort throughout her struggle with an eating disorder during her early adulthood. Through this passion, Lindsey has created a music world where the romance of Celtic folk music and modern classical meet the infectious energy of dance and electronica.

On stage, Stirling moves with the grace of a ballerina but works the crowd into a frenzy, “dropping the beat” like a rave fairy. Stirling is the model of a modern independent recording artist, with a symbiotic relationship with her fans. She is famed for taking “requests” and has recorded unique versions of the themes from “Phantom Of The Opera” and “Game Of Thrones”, the computer games “Zelda,” “Pokemon,” and “Skyrim,” as well as pop songs by Michael Jackson and Rihanna; She uploads them all to Lindseystomp, a secondary YouTube channel packed with music videos and short comedy films, many featuring her alter-ego – a ‘superfan’ named Phelba.

Lindsey Stirling’s audition in Episode 510 consisted of playing the violin in a hip-hop style. Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel all voted “Yes,” sending Lindsey to the Vegas Round.

Being voted off “America’s Got Talent” turned out to be what she considers the best thing that’s ever happened to her. Rejection simply strengthened Stirling’s resolve to be herself. “The same reasons I was told I wouldn’t succeed are the reasons people travel hundreds of miles to see me now,” she laughs. “Because it’s different. Because it’s something you haven’t seen before …”

Since the show, Lindsey has flourished as an artist.

A classically trained violinist from Gilbert, AZ, Lindsey has entered a futurist world of electronic big beats and animation, leaping through the music industry with over 675 million views on YouTube, Billboard chart-topping hits and sold out tours worldwide.

Lindsey’s self-titled debut album featured twelve original tracks; including the viral piece “Crystallize,” which has racked up over 97 million YouTube views.

She was deemed “The Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll” and one of the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” by Rolling Stone, and, as a member of Fleetwood Mac, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

As a solo artist, she has garnered eight Grammy Award nominations and, with Fleetwood Mac, a further five.

Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 along with her then romantic partner Lindsey Buckingham. Singer and songwriter Stephanie Lynn Nicks was born on May 26, 1948, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Her adopted moniker, Stevie, reportedly came from her childhood pronunciation of “Stephanie” as “tee-dee.” Stephanie’s mother, Barbara, was a homemaker and father Jess Nicks, a corporate executive, first met at Arizona State University. They became college sweethearts, and the couple married in 1947.

The tight-knit Nicks clan included Stevie’s paternal grandfather, Aaron Nicks, a would-be country star. Grandfather Nicks handcrafted a guitar for young Stevie and taught her well-known selections from the country music cannon. By the time she was five years old, Stevie was gigging with him at local gin mills. Around this time her brother, Christopher, was born.

As Stevie’s father rose through the corporate ranks, the Nicks family skipped around Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah and California. By 1963, the family landed in the suburbs of Los Angeles, and Stevie enrolled at Arcadia High School. While there, she met her best friend, Robin, and joined Changing Times, a band patterned after The Mamas and The Papas. The group opened for bigger acts such as Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix before they disbanded in 1971.

By this time, Nicks and Buckingham were deeply romantically involved. The couple continued collaborate, and soon landed a contract with Polydor Records. In 1972, they released Buckingham-Nicks, an album that went largely unnoticed. In an effort to make ends meet, Stevie worked alternately as a maid, a dental assistant, and a waitress.

Concurrently, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie of the rock group Fleetwood Mac struggled with band tensions and line-up changes. In 1974, the group started seeking out a new recording facility, and arranged a visit to Sound City Studio in the San Fernando Valley — the same studio where Stevie and Buckingham recorded their album.

As producer Keith Alson guided Fleetwood Mac through the facility, he showcased the studio’s sound capabilities by playing the Buckingham-Nicks track “Frozen Love.” The band was taken with Buckingham’s guitar sensibilities.
