Have you noticed the pale blue dot? …. Our home!

~~January 21, 2015~~

Carl Edward Sagan (November 9, 1934 – December 20, 1996) was an American astronomer, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astro-biologist, author, science popularizer, and science communicator in astronomy and other natural sciences. His contributions were central to the discovery of the high surface temperatures of Venus.

However, he is best known for his contributions to the scientific research of extraterrestrial life, including experimental demonstration of the production of amino acids from basic chemicals by radiation. Sagan assembled the first physical messages that were sent into space:  the Pioneer plaque and the Voyager Golden Record, universal messages that could potentially be understood by any extraterrestrial intelligence that might find them.

He published more than 600 scientific papers and articles and was author, co-author or editor of more than 20 books.

We ALL are ONE!!

At the end of the day …. Pleiades!!

~~May 13, 2014~~

In astronomy, the Pleiades or Seven Sisters (Messier object 45 or M45), is an open star cluster containing middle-aged hot B-type stars located in the constellation of Taurus.

It is among the nearest star clusters to Earth and is the cluster most obvious to the naked eye in the night sky. The celestial entity has several meanings in different cultures and traditions.

The cluster is dominated by hot blue and extremely luminous stars that have formed within the last 100 million years. Dust that forms a faint reflection nebulosity around the brightest stars was thought at first to be left over from the formation of the cluster (hence the alternate name Maia Nebula after the star Maia), but is now known to be an unrelated dust cloud in the interstellar medium, through which the stars are currently passing.

Computer simulations have shown that the Pleiades was probably formed from a compact configuration that resembled the Orion Nebula. Astronomers estimate that the cluster will survive for about another 250 million years, after which it will disperse due to gravitational interactions with its galactic neighborhood.

~~Brightest stars~~

The nine brightest stars of the Pleiades are named for the Seven Sisters of Greek mythologySteropeMeropeElectraMaiaTaygetaCelaeno, and Alcyone, along with their parents Atlas and Pleione.

As daughters of Atlas, the Hyades were sisters of the Pleiades.

The English name of the cluster itself is of Greek origin (Πλειάδες), though of uncertain etymology.

Suggested derivations include: from πλεῖν plein, “to sail,” making the Pleiades the “sailing ones”; from πλέος pleos, “full, many”; or from πελειάδες peleiades, “flock of doves.”

Enjoy this beautiful interpretation of the Pleiades, all bathed in the color blue. Talent galore, dancing and lightning.

We ALL are ONE!!

Sweet dreams, fly among the stars into wonderful worlds of brightness and color.

There’s is weightlessness and a sensation of vastness, serenity and repose.
