NORTH CAROLINA’S HB 2
(the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act)
One of my good Facebook friends responded to a “shared” post related to this North Carolina law. This person lives in there. The response I received was that this law was intended to protect those children who may be exposed to sexual predators while using the bathroom facilities.
Another one of my Facebook friends joined the “conversation”.
I’m happy to say that through this interaction, the first friend researched and found out that the law was so much more that the “protection of kids in bathrooms”.
This once again shows that we, as “the people”, need to do our own research and not believe all that we read on the newspaper or watch on TV.
Many times, plenty other matters are included, specially if any law is passed in a hurry, in the middle of the night, without allowing all the legislators adequate time to read the documents and then participate in the voting process.
Here is more information about this draconian law whose main purpose is to strip a segment of the population of their basic human rights.
And now, Mississippi has gone a similar way.

North Carolina’s Terrible Anti-LGBT Law Is Even Worse than We Thought
The problem goes way beyond bathrooms.

When North Carolina lawmakers passed what is widely viewed as the most sweeping anti-LGBT law in the country, supporters said it was needed to fend off a potential wave of local laws like the transgender-friendly bathroom ordinance adopted by the city of Charlotte. Opponents have called the new law a “hostile takeover of human rights.”
But all the attention on who can use toilets and locker rooms has overshadowed what employment rights advocates say is an even more expansive change made by the law – one that could affect all workers in North Carolina, not just those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
The legislation doesn’t stop there, however.
Tucked inside is language that strips North Carolina workers of the ability to sue under a state anti-discrimination law, a right that has been upheld in court since 1985.
“If you were fired because of your race, fired because of your gender, fired because of your religion,” said Allan Freyer, head of the Workers’ Rights Project at the North Carolina Justice Center in Raleigh, “you no longer have a basic remedy.”
“The LGBT issues were a Trojan horse…people were so caught up in [the LGBT] part of the law that this snuck under the radar.”

North Carolina just passed a bill that many critics are calling “the most anti-LGBT law in the country.” It requires that bathrooms be zoned for biological sex and not social gender. Protests began almost immediately.
