After teasing the release of her forthcoming third studio album, Lindsey Stirling has dropped the first single in June 28, titled “The Arena.”

The music is noticeably more powerful and poignant than a lot of her previous work, making use of strong drum work and more electronic influence in the bassline and backing synths.

The music video also works to present a stronger Lindsey Stirling herself, as the concept of an “arena” and the motif of a post-apocalyptic wasteland battleground are surely settings in which only the strong survive.

The album: Brave Enough.

Lindsey’s dance partner in the video is also a professional dancer and has appeared on Dancing With The Stars, Derek Hough.

SAVING THE ARCTIC
Protecting the Arctic for people, wildlife and the planet

The Arctic is one of the most unique places on Earth. It spans eight countries, is home to more than 13 million people and provides a habitat for some of the most incredible wildlife on Earth. And now, it’s the battleground for what could be the most important fight in environmental history.

Most of us will never get the chance to travel to the Arctic. Even so, this far away region touches our daily lives in ways you may not realize. When it comes to protecting the Arctic, it’s all about us.

It’s About Climate Change

It’s About Wildlife

It’s About People

“What affects her community affects my community, what affects us affects them. When one nation loses the right to subsist on their own foods, it affects all of us.”

Charlotte Church sings outside Shell’s London HQ in protest at Arctic drilling

Charlotte Maria Church (born 21 February 1986) is a Welsh singer-songwriter, actress and television presenter.

She rose to fame in childhood as a classical singer before branching into pop music in 2005.

The trains rumbled overhead, the rain drove in sideways and the buses steered through the crowds. But despite the distractions, Charlotte Church carried on singing the blues song This Bitter Earth.

Church told the Guardian that she thought Shell’s plans were “unbelievably dumb, exploitative and nonsensical”.

She was performing metres from the oil giant Shell’s headquarters beside the Thames in London, in an effort to persuade company executives to blow the whistle on its Arctic drilling.

Church told the crowds gathered under Hungerford bridge: “We want to make them question what they’re doing. This is predominantly to do with the American government but it is a worldwide issue.”

Last week, August 2015, the Obama administration gave Shell the final green light to proceed with its plans to drill, despite the government’s own analysis showing there is a 75% risk of a spill if the project continues.

~Charlotte Church performs ‘Titanic’ song in Arctic drilling protest~

~Published on Aug 26, 2015~

Singer and activist Charlotte Church has performed a Titanic-inspired protest song over oil giant Shell’s efforts to drill in the Arctic. Ms Church sang with a string quartet close to the oil company’s London headquarters as part of a month-long protest by Greenpeace, who warn drilling in the Arctic could lead to environmental disaster.

She told supporters her rendition of Dinah Washington’s This Bitter Earth was aimed at Shell staff in a bid to make them question the company’s actions.

The performance, sheltered from the pouring rain under a railway arch, was inspired by the string quartet on the Titanic who continued to perform as the ship sank after hitting an iceberg, Greenpeace said.
