WORDS ALWAYS HAVE CONSEQUENCES

Donald Trump’s appalling reaction to a hate crime committed in his name

Two Boston men were charged Wednesday, August 19, 2015,  in the beating of a homeless Mexican man. The victim was allegedly sleeping outside a subway station when brothers Scott and Steve Leader rummaged through his things, then started beating him around the face and neck and hitting him with a metal pole.

One witness heard the brothers laughing as they walked away.

Here’s what Donald Trump said when told about the alleged assault (according to the Boston Globe) at a Wednesday press conference in New Hampshire:

“I haven’t heard about that. It would be a shame, but I haven’t heard about that.” Then the crowd buzzed, and Trump added: “I will say that people who are following me are very passionate.

They love this country and they want this country to be great again.

They are passionate.

I will say that, and everybody here has reported it.”

Public figures who make hate acceptable, who fan the flames of fear, do enormous damage, both to our public discourse and to the lives of those they target and those they convince that acting on that hatred is justified.

Donald Trump is the nadir of the right-wing hate-mongering machine.

~COMMENT FROM A FACEBOOK MEMBER~

I would just like to say I am so sick of Trump and his racist speech’s. Who is fact checking anything that he says? I listen to him and is this what we want for a President? There are other people in this race we hear nothing about because it is all about Trump.
Yes I will vote for another candidate but this is silly and I believe someone has to put the brakes on this.
Just wanted to vent.

I’ve been wrestling with the idea to stop promoting, reblogging or sharing information about this “man” who professes to be so great, awesome and fantastic. A man who is arrogant, bombastic, loud mouthed, crass, pompous and possesses a “yuuuge” ego.

The reason behind this thought is because I’m one of the many who give him free publicity and shine the spotlight on his senseless words.

Had to look this one up: BLOVIATE

To bloviate is to talk, but not just to chat.

To bloviate means to go on and on and on and on, usually in a pompous way.

However, there has to be some way to stop this.

He’s insulted Hispanics, war heroes, women, his fellow candidates, other cultures, journalists and so much more.

The only way that his can be done is by keeping an eye on him, his actions and comments.

If left unchecked and, god forbid, becomes president, he will bring an era of incredible ridicule, destruction, disenfranchisement ans so much more.

I have a very hard time realizing that this may be what America has become or even worse, what it’s always been and the mask is coming off! Trump is the epitome of the “Ugly American“.

“Pendulum Waves” …. What is a pendulum?

Piv

~~July 7, 2014~~

pendulum is a weight suspended from a pivot so that it can swing freely. When a pendulum is displaced sideways from its resting equilibrium position, it is subject to a restoring force due to gravity that will accelerate it back toward the equilibrium position. When released, the restoring force combined with the pendulum’s mass causes it to oscillate about the equilibrium position, swinging back and forth.

The time for one complete cycle, a left swing and a right swing, is called the period. The period depends on the length of the pendulum, and also to a slight degree on the amplitude, the width of the pendulum’s swing.

From its discovery in around 1602 by Galileo Galilei, the regular motion of pendulums was used for timekeeping, and was the world’s most accurate timekeeping technology until the 1930s. Pendulums are used to regulate pendulum clocks, and are used in scientific instruments such as accelerometers and seismometers. Historically they were used as gravimeters to measure the acceleration of gravity in geophysical surveys, and even as a standard of length. The word ‘pendulum’ is new Latin, from the Latin pendulus, meaning ‘hanging’.

The simple gravity pendulum is an idealized mathematical model of a pendulum. This is a weight (or bob) on the end of a massless cord suspended from a pivot, without friction. When given an initial push, it will swing back and forth at a constant amplitude. Real pendulums are subject to friction and air drag, so the amplitude of their swings declines.

Fifteen uncoupled simple pendulums of monotonically increasing lengths dance together to produce visual traveling waves, standing waves, beating, and (seemingly) random motion.

For more details see http://sciencedemonstrations.fas.harv…

The period of one complete cycle of the dance is 60 seconds. The length of the longest pendulum has been adjusted so that it executes 51 oscillations in this 60 second period. The length of each successive shorter pendulum is carefully adjusted so that it executes one additional oscillation in this period. Thus, the 15th pendulum (shortest) undergoes 65 oscillations.

Our apparatus was built from a design published by Richard Berg [Am J Phys 59(2), 186-187 (1991)] at the University of Maryland. The particular apparatus shown here was built by our own Nils Sorensen.
