If you often drive past Beverly Boulevard and Genesee Avenue in Los Angeles, you may have been lucky enough to catch James Corden and his Crosswalk Theater Company perform an abridged version of the Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” … in the middle of the road.

If not, don’t fret.

Corden aired the segment featuring some of the stars of the live-action film – Josh Gad, Luke Evans, and Dan Stevens – on his “Late Late Show.”

The three reprised their roles as LeFou, Gaston, and the Beast, respectively, to sing classic songs from the movie, including “Belle,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Gaston,” and “Be Our Guest.”

This is a movie which my grand-daughter Angelika and I have been waiting for.

The controversy generated about the mentioned scene is much ado about nothing.

It’s all in the ‘mind’ of the beholder.

It’s a must watch movie.

We will soon go to the movies.

Beauty and the Beast is a 2017 American musical romantic fantasy film directed by Bill Condon from a screenplay written by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos.

‘Beauty and the Beast’s ‘gay moment’ may have been much ado about nothing

So what exactly caused all this controversy?

The “gay moment” that Condon was referring to is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot in the film’s final seconds.

LeFou, the villain Gaston’s side-kick, dances with a man in the final ball sequence just before the credits roll. There are oblique references to LeFou’s sexuality over the course of the film. He is portrayed as having something of an unrequited crush on Gaston, having euphemistic conversations about their relationship and looking longingly at him during the song Gaston.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected.
