A Message from my Cousin …. “🇵🇷 Inés …. from the Ground …. Mr. President 🇵🇷 …. “!!

~~September 26, 2017~~

MY COUSIN, INES

RIGHT ON TARGET!!

I have family in Puerto Rico.

I haven’t been able to contact all of them but slowly news are coming out.

My cousin Inés lives in the metro, San Juan area.

She wrote a message to the leader of the United States.

I think she specifies, word by word, what has been happening with Puerto Rico due to Hurricane María and to many events which took place before the devastating hurricane.

There are plenty of reasons why Puerto Rico is in the situation it is.

The hand of the mighty, imperialistic U.S. of A. can be seen everywhere.

Here are her words.

Yes, Mr. President, you are absolutely right, infrastructure was not in very good shape to begin with.

(I think those were your precise words!)

María has put it bluntly.

There are no materials and no money to invest in infrastructure. A much reduced work force, 30k government employees fired with Law 7 many who worked for water and electricity. Forced or suggested early retirement for many thousands. Massive migration. Yes, that poor little Caribbean Island where you built and then declared bankrupt your mini golf playground.

Where are you playing now?

No more Dorado for you.

BLineIn11BLine

And then, PROMESA, H.R. 5278 , and your Supervisory Board, la ‘fucking Junta’, milking our people, putting your billionaire hedge fund holder friends before the our people. And then, our brilliant government, adequately stupid politicians working for their own benefits, years of blatant corruption making the same few richer and richer.

Meanwhile our retirement plans collapsed and our elders have to spend their little money on your lover-priced pharmaceutical products.

Our University in peril of imminent collapse and our working students enslaved by your $4.25 hour wage law.

By any chance, are you trying to strangle us?

Your 3.5 million brown skin, second class citizens that consume all your Walmart goods and make you want to dance Despacito?

Oh we’re good, because we take abuse submissively!

BLineIn7BLine

And then more, we give your dollar abundant Americanos the most beautifully attractive tax incentives to come and live in this exuberant island, little by little displace our city population and buy cheap property from desperate Boricuas. A trip to Supermax will clearly show the growth of this blond population.

Ah, such an amazing paradise, a fiscal paradise for your rich!

Mr. President, you and your abuses and your imperialistic, racist government are responsible for every single life lost, for every single fallen tree, for every coffee bean that will not feed a family any time soon.

I truly hope you don’t try to claim your debt anymore.

Every cent must go to our reconstruction.

BLineimg_2911BLine

All the repressed wrath of all the abused nations, all the frustration and anger and hunger and fear of the world will be knocking at your door.

Stop your senseless tweeting and GET TO WORK.

Show the world you are a worthy representative of your nation’s fathers’ principles of freedom and justice!

Or are you?

Inés M.

There’s pride, there’s honor, there’s history.

They are our ancestors.

They still live through us.

We carry them in our genes and in our blood.

The Taíno were an Arawak people who were the indigenous people of the Caribbean and Florida. At the time of European contact in the late 15th century, they were the principal inhabitants of most of Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola (the Dominican Republic and Haiti), and Puerto Rico.

In the Greater Antilles, the northern Lesser Antilles, and the Bahamas, they were known as the Lucayans. They spoke the Taíno language, one of theArawakan languages. The ancestors of the Taíno entered the Caribbean from South America.

At the time of contact, the Taíno were divided into three broad groups, known as the Western Taíno (Jamaica, most of Cuba, and the Bahamas), the Classic Taíno (Hispaniola and Puerto Rico) and the Eastern Taíno (northern Lesser Antilles), and other groups of Taíno nations of Florida, such as the Tequesta, Calusa, Jaega, Ais, and other groups. Taíno groups were in conflict with the Caribs of the southern Lesser Antilles.

COLUMBUS DAY NO MORE …. INDIGENOUS PEOPLE DAY

They sure didn’t teach this when I was in school!

HortyRex©

Columbus initiated the trans-Atlantic slave trade, in early February 1494, first sending several dozen enslaved Taínos to Spain. Columbus described those he enslaved as “well made and of very good intelligence,” and recommended to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella that taxing slave shipments could help pay for supplies needed in the Indies.

A year later, Columbus intensified his efforts to enslave Indigenous people in the Caribbean. He ordered 1,600 Taínos rounded up — people whom Columbus had earlier described as “so full of love and without greed“— and had 550 of the “best males and females,” according to one witness, Michele de Cuneo, chained and sent as slaves to Spain. “Of the rest who were left,” de Cuneo writes, “the announcement went around that whoever wanted them could take as many as he pleased; and this was done.”

Taíno slavery in Spain turned out to be unprofitable, but Columbus later wrote, “Let us in the name of the Holy Trinity go on sending all the slaves that can be sold.”

From the very beginning, Columbus was not on a mission of discovery but of conquest and exploitation — he called his expedition la empresa, the enterprise. When slavery did not pay off, Columbus turned to a tribute system, forcing every Taíno, 14 or older, to fill a hawk’s bell with gold every three months. If successful, they were safe for another three months. If not, Columbus ordered that Taínos be “punished,” by having their hands chopped off, or they were chased down by attack dogs. As the Spanish priest Bartolomé de las Casas wrote, this tribute system was “impossible and intolerable.”

BORINQUEN
is the name of my land

Before the conquerers came

Before the poverty

Before the blood shead

my people
de lo Boriquen island

Tene la sangre
de los Santos

lo sangre de Dios

He sleeps in our hearts

Tu corazon
they call it

We were Taino Indians

Till we had to hide our skin

We were once naked

Our land clothed us

Our bodies
beautiful in its natural form

Our fruits of our land
was pure

Our skin
the color of gold

Our waters
clear as sky

Then one day
we died

We now hide
in the blood
of the spanish pride

We are still alive ….

IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”

National Hispanic Heritage Month …. September 15 through October 15!!

HisMonth

~~September 16, 2015~~

Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 – October 15

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.

The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.

NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

National Hispanic Heritage Month is the period from September 15 to October 15 in the United States, when people recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate the group’s heritage and culture.

Hispanic Heritage Week was approved by president Lyndon Johnson in 1968 and the length of it was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period (September 15 – October 15). It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988 on the approval of Public Law 100-402.

September 15 was chosen as the starting point for the celebration because it is the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. All declared independence in 1821. In addition, Mexico, Chile and Belize celebrate their independence days on September 16, September 18, and September 21, respectively.

Hispanic Heritage Month also celebrates the long and important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans in North America, starting with the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus on the morning of October 12, 1492.

A map of late 18th-century North America shows this presence, from the small outpost of San Francisco founded in the desolate wilderness of Alta California in 1776, through the Spanish province of Texas with its vaqueros (cowboys), to the fortress of St. Augustine, Florida — the first continuous European settlement in North America, founded in 1565, forty-two years before the English landed in Jamestown, Virginia.

Kirk Nugent …. Catalyst for change!!

KN

~~July 14, 2014~~

Catalyst for change, challenging preconceived notions about success and self-actualization.

We begin enlightenment when we realize all is connected and we are ONE.

~Biography~

065

For more than a decade, Kirk Nugent has served as a catalyst for change, challenging preconceived notions about success and self-actualization. Kirk started public speaking in poetry venues where he displayed a keen understanding of social and political issues delivered with his signature brand of infectious wit and frenetic energy. Early audiences crowned him “The People’s Poet,” and the stage was set for Kirk to widen his speaking base to include college campuses, key note addresses for Fortune 500 companies, church ministries and empowerment workshops. He has spoken at venues across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and the Caribbean. Kirk continues to impact the lives of people from around the world with public speaking engagements, and live appearances, as well as with his books, The Unpopular Truth and Answer the Call, and also his two disc audio set, Pursue Your Passion.

Kirk celebrates his Jamaican heritage, which has fostered in him the global perspective of “Out of Many One People.” This perspective is a relentless endorsement of the idea that no matter where you are in the world, the innate right to chase your dreams unites all individuals. This is the philosophy which guides Kirk’s speaking engagements, and inspired Les Brown to proclaim, “Kirk is a poignant speaker who challenges us to step out in faith towards our dreams.” His ultimate aim is to help ordinary people create extraordinary lives.
