Conservation International Launches Celebrity Studded Awareness Campaign Nature Is Speaking

Nature doesn’t need people. People need nature.

That’s the message of the provocative, celebrity-studded campaign Conservation International (CI) has launched. Nature Is Speaking aims to raise awareness that people need nature in order to survive.

Academy Award Nominee Edward Norton Lends Voice to Nature Is Speaking

“You have withered me away to less than half of what I used to be just over 100 years ago. Are you paying attention, I am turning to dust,” states The Soil.

Healthy and productive soil has always been necessary to humanity’s survival. Soil is the foundation of our agriculture and economy. With a global population more than 7 billion people, we are putting more stress on the soil than ever before to feed the growing population. More than 75 billion tons of soil disappears each year and it can take over 500 years for nature to replace one inch of eroded soil.

Edward Norton on voicing “The Soil“: “I come from a family of conservation activists, and so I’ve had a strong connection to nature all my life. My father has been a leader within the movement for over 30 years and has taught most of what I know about environmental conservation. While he would always take me hiking, camping and rafting, he also taught me that the spiritual value of the outdoors alone, is not enough to save nature against economic interests. We must realize that nature is absolutely essential for our survival, and we must act on that premise now. That’s why I serve on the board of Conservation International and am also the United Nations Ambassador for Biodiversity.”

A big part of humanity separate themselves from nature. We live in an ego constructed environment; a destructive environment. Every thing we have, everything we are is because of nature.

The rain forest plays a big, and equal, part as to the thriving existence of the western world. Yet we pillage it because we’ve turned the gift of living into a war for survival. To keep living on the scale of the grand ego we blithely destroy the very thing that is responsible for our oxygen, our medicine, our food, our lives; the rainforest.

We have come and we will eventually go. Nature does not need us. Nature will not miss us. Nature is speaking and we are not listening. Only it our final moments on earth we will see just how imperative it is for us to listen.

Take best way to take care of ourselves is to take care of nature.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability. Currently working on an enterprise whose main mission will be to bring peoples of all walks of life together. To be one .... since we ALL are ONE!! The future looks bright and promising!!!
