TWO YEARS AGO TODAY

Tragedy struck in the early hours of the night

It was a night of fun and celebration at a Latin even at Pulse, a local LGBTQ night club in Orlando.

Most victims were Latino and Hispanic.

It was Pulse’s Latin Night. 

It was a horrible situation.

It was a huge hit for the Latino and Hispanic communities.

It was reported that 90% of the victims were Latino/Hispanic with 23 of the victims from Puerto Rico.

Hurricane Matthew …. “came and went …. Grateful”!!

HURRICANE MATTHEW 

These were the days!

For me, it really started last Tuesday when I realized this monster was headed our way.

All the predictions were dire.

We picked up all the outside furniture, wind chimes, pots and plants … anything that could be a projectile.

Wondered what last night and this morning would bring.

We feel blessed and lucky!

To our advantage, it veered a bit east, from Category 4 went to Category 3.

There was rain and wind last night.

We still feel wind gusts.

Happy to say no major damage.

We have power, water, internet and television.

Luckier than so many others.

As of this writing, the eye is going over the city of Jacksonville, north from us.

We are OK!!

We all know about the tragic events of June 12.

Vigils, ceremonies and muscial tributes keep coming out in solidarity with Orlando.

Winter is coming to Florida, #2 …. get ready!!

When Floridians do complain about the winter weather, they complain about the strange way you have to dress.

South Florida is subtropical and balmy year-round.  Daytime highs are in the mid 70’s even in the coolest months of December, January and February. Central Florida is not far behind, average high temperatures for the same three months are between 72 and 74° F. However the nights do get cooler in Central Florida, temps drop into the 50’s and occasionally lower.

There have been many memorable Christmas weeks here in north Florida when the temperature has been in the 80’s and we have been outside, cleaning windows and working in the yard in shorts and a t-shirt.
