A four-month-old Iranian girl, scheduled to fly into Portland for a heart surgery appointment at OHSU had to postpone the procedure after Drumpf’s immigration order.

The infant, Fatemah, has a heart condition. Her family found out about it at a routine checkup, and her pediatricians say she needs to have surgery soon.

“They said ‘this is a miracle, we don’t know how she had lived with the big problem she had.’ Immediately she has to do the surgery,” her uncle, Samad Taghizadeh , told KATU News.

Taghizadeh lives in Portland with Fatemah’s grandparents; they are American citizens. The family chose to have the open-heart surgery at Oregon Health & Science University – which boasts one of the top pediatric cardiology programs in the U.S. – because facilities in Iran do not have the equipment necessary for such a procedure.

The First Lady Michelle Obama is doing Carpool Karaoke with James Corden

Yes, really.

The US President’s wife filmed the section yesterday on her way to the White House and announced the news through her Snapchat, according to Billboard.

It is without a doubt the biggest Carpool recruitment to date.

It looks like we can expect Late Late Show host James and Barack’s wife to croon along to at least one Stevie Wonder track as Michelle credits the singer for influencing her perspective on the world.

Michelle, 52, revealed in March 2016:

‘The very first album of my whole life was Talking Book. My grandad – we called him Southside because he lived on the south side of Chicago, not very imaginative – loved music.

‘He was a carpenter and collected jazz. He had turntables all around the house and reel-to-reels. I used to go to his house and play with his dog called Rex – again, not very imaginative – and play music with him.’

During her Carpool jaunt, it’s likely Michelle will mention her upcoming trip around Liberia, Morocco and Spain to as part of her Let Girls Learn Initiative which fights against the fact there are 62 million girls around the globe who aren’t in school.

Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to helping children and having fun.

Proceeds benefit children and young people in the US and some of the poorest communities in the world.

It’s sponsored by Comic Relief UK, an organization founded after the 1985 Live Aid concert.

(It helped inspire — but has no other relation to — the American telethon started by Bob Zmuda and long hosted by Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal.)

The British event is held every two years. There are also Red Nose Days in Finland, Germany and Iceland.
