MEMORIES
I remember this game but, for the life of me, I can’t remember the name, if it ever had one.
The object is to hold one to the tree, then to each other for a long as you could.
The one doing the pulling won depending on how many kids were pried off!

THE EVE BEFORE THE EPIPHANY
Tomorrow is my real Christmas celebration.
It’s Three Kings Day.
As a kid, I’d gather grass and collect it in a box.
I’d put that under my bed and when I woke up the next morning, my presents would be there.
The camels had eaten the grass and the Three Kings had left me my presents.
It’s something that we still celebrate with our grad-children.
Gathering grass today and waiting for tomorrow.

~Ten facts about the Feast of the Epiphany~
The three Kings (Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar) represented Europe, Arabia and Africa respectively.
Hundreds of years ago, roast lamb was traditionally served at Epiphany in honor of Christ and the three Kings’ visit.
Whoever finds the small statue of a baby Jesus hidden inside their slice of the Rosca de Reyes throws a party on Candlemas in February.
In some European countries, children leave their shoes out the night before to be filled with gifts, while others leave straw for the three Kings’ horses.
According to Greek Orthodox Church’s traditions, a priest will bless the waters by throwing a cross into it as worshipers try to retrieve it.
In Bulgaria too, Eastern Orthodox priests throw a cross in the sea and the men dive in – competing to get to it first.
In Venice a traditional regatta that started as a joke in the late 1970’s has been incorporated in the celebrations of Epiphany Day.
In Prague, there is a traditional Three Kings swim to commemorate Epiphany Day at the Vltava River.
In New York, El Museo del Barrio has celebrated and promoted the Three Kings’ Day tradition with an annual parade for more than three decades. Thousands take part in the procession featuring camels, colorful puppets and floats.
The day’s activities involve singing holiday carols called aguinaldos.

As I child I remember always being told that I had a guardian angel.
This graphic was imprinted in cards and pictures around my home.
My Mom reminded me to always be good and behave because my guardian angel was always with me.

Church Launches ‘He Is the Gift’ Initiative to Share Christmas Message
An effort to share a message about Jesus Christ during the Christmas season will be underway throughout the month of December by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The month-long Christmas initiative focuses on Heavenly Father’s love as demonstrated in the sacred gift of Jesus Christ (see John 3:16). The “He Is the Gift” initiative is expected to reach millions during the month through social media, displays in visitors’ centers, member and missionary tools, online paid promotion and outdoor advertising in New York City’s Times Square.
“Christmas is a time of reflection on what we can become because of God’s sacred gift,” said Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “As we discover the gift, we learn of the immeasurable love of God and our absolute need for a Savior. As we embrace the gift, we strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ and our desire to become more like Him. As we share the gift, we follow in the Master’s footsteps, who invited all to hear His message.”

I was watching TV today. I saw a DVR’d recording of an episode of Oprah’s Master Class. This one presented a full hour of Vanessa Williams telling her life story. It was very interesting because I was aware of the scandal during her Miss America’s “reign”. Her selection, at the time it was a major step in the social games that we play.
She described events during her childhood, discussed her family life, talked about her personal and sentimental life.
This is one strong woman. She weathered that “scandal” and, like a phoenix, rose and battled life in a very sophisticated and classy manner.
She lived, she experienced, she fought … and she’s still winning.
She’s save her best for last … and that time hasn’t come yet.
I remember this song very well. I want to share it’s music, lyrics and message with you tonight. Enjoy!
“Save The Best For Last” is a 1992 single written by Phil Galdston, Wendy Waldman and Jon Lind in March 1989.
It is considered Vanessa Williams’ signature song.
The lyrics’ redemptive themes resonated with Williams’ story, as she had put together a successful recording career following her earlier Miss America resignation scandal. The song is a ballad about a young female admirer of a single man who stands by and watches as the object of her desires goes through years of dating, before he finally unexpectedly decides to consummate a relationship with the singer.
“Save The Best For Last” was not written specifically for Vanessa Williams. There were a number of other singers who were offered the song; they all turned it down. While recording her album The Comfort Zone, at the last minute, a song had to be replaced. Vanessa was played “Save The Best For Last“, and Vanessa said: “I can’t believe nobody wants this song. I have to have this song.”
