Trump expected to withdraw from Paris climate agreement
Drumpf is expected to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, two senior US officials familiar with his plans told CNN Wednesday, May 31, a major break from international partners that would isolate the United States in global efforts to curb global warming.
According to The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Politics, in liberal democracies, the political Right opposes socialism and social democracy.

National Park Service ‘resistance team’ launches anti-Trump Twitter account
By Ben Wolfgang – The Washington Times – Wednesday, January 25, 2017
A purported “resistance team” of National Park Service employees is battling it out with President Trump on his home turf: Twitter.
The Twitter account , which claims to be run by National Park Service employees tweeting during their off-work hours, has begun tweeting about climate change and blasting the president for his reported attempts to clamp down on social media use by government agencies.
“Can’t wait for President Trump to call us FAKE NEWS.
You can take our official twitter, but you’ll never take our free time!” the account tweeted Wednesday.
The account was launched after the official Badlands National Park Twitter page on Tuesday, January24, tweeted several scientific facts related to climate change – tweets that were deleted just hours after they were posted. The tweets reportedly came from an ex-employee of the National Park Service who apparently still had access to the account.
The move comes after the official National Park Service account was temporarily shuttered last week after retweeting photos of Mr. Trump’s inauguration side by side with pictures from former President Obama’s inauguration in 2008.
The alternative National Park Service account has wasted little time in blasting the new president, taking aim at, among other things, his Tuesday, January 24, executive order reviving the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

What is Earth Hour?
Earth Hour is a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet, and is organized by WWF.
World Wide Fund for Nature
Engaging a massive mainstream community on a broad range of environmental issues, Earth Hour was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007.
Since then it has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement.
When does Earth Hour take place?
Earth Hour 2016 will be held on Saturday 19 March between 8.30 PM and 9.30 PM in your local time zone. The event is held worldwide towards the end of March annually, encouraging individuals, communities households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
How long has Earth Hour been going for?
The first Earth Hour event was on March 31 2007. WWF-Australia inspired Sydney-siders to show their support for climate change action. More than 2.2 million individuals and 2,000 businesses turned their lights out for one hour in the first Earth Hour event.
Earth Hour 2016 will mark the tenth year of the campaign!
Earth Hour 2015 is about getting the crowd to use #YourPower to change climate change. Take action and join the global movement today at http://earthhour.org/join-the-movement.
The 10 Most Political Moments In Pope Francis’ Address To Congress
Pope Francis speaks his mind, and he did that again in his address to a joint meeting of Congress Thursday morning, September 24, 2015. But, in the vein of the best Jesuit teachers, Francis praised America, its rich political history and its ideals before delicately delivering some things its political leaders might, well, want to consider working on.
Here were 10 moments that stood out from his address
Embracing John Kerry
A call to rise above polarization
A call for the country to open its arms to immigrants and refugees
A reminder on abortion
Strongly advocating for abolishing the death penalty
Poverty and the necessity of ‘distribution of wealth’
Business should be about “service to the common good”
~Pope Francis Visits Congress, Working Both Republicans & Democrats~
~Published on Sep 24, 2015~
Pope Francis spoke to the U.S. Congress on Sept. 24, a first in papal history. He managed to subtly (and at times not so subtly) appeal to Democrats and Republicans while making pleas on some of America’s most divisive topics. He must have had a good ghost writer.
President Obama has the power to save the Arctic and prevent runaway climate change. Share your story >> http://letters.gpclimate.org
President Obama has granted Shell permission to drill in the Alaskan Arctic despite overwhelming global opposition and the obvious risks it poses to Arctic communities, wildlife, and our climate.
It’s time to demand that President Obama show real climate leadership and stop Shell from further fossil fuel extraction. Arctic drilling is a climate change issue.
Take a few minutes, fill in the blanks and send to President Obama.
President Obama’s three-day trip to Alaska week will literally change the map of the nation’s 49th state.
Mount McKinley — the 20,237-foot mountain and the tallest in North America — has been renamed Denali, as it was originally known by Alaska Natives before it was renamed to honor President William McKinley.
The mountain, which sits in the 6 million-acre Denali national park, has been known as Denali in Alaska since 1975. Under an order signed by Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, the Denali name will also take effect for all federal usage and, therefore, on all official maps.
The order was signed in October 2015 but the White House asked that it be announced Monday as part of Obama’s trip to Alaska to highlight the effects of climate change in the Arctic.
The White House said the name change “recognizes the sacred status of Denali to generations of Alaska Natives.”
Denali, meaning “the great one” in the Athabaskan language of Alaska natives, was the original name of the mountain.
President Obama officially changed Mount McKinley’s name back to Denali.

Obama Explains Why He Approved Arctic Drilling In The Face Of Climate Concerns
After fielding a question about climate denial, the president took on the controversial question of drilling in the Arctic — something that has been seen as contradictory to his interest in fighting climate change.
President Obama began by pointing out that he has already shut off the most sensitive Arctic areas to drilling, including the Bristol Bay, home to a number of endangered species and 40 percent of America’s wild-caught seafood.
In April, his administration also finalized a proposal to set aside a majority of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as wilderness, which prevent drilling across some 12 million acres across northeastern Alaska.
But according to the president, it’s impossible to stop oil exploration in the Arctic completely.

~Published on May 12, 2015~
Shell first looked into drilling in the Arctic in 2012 but had to stop because of numerous safety and operational problems. Now they’re back at it, and the Obama administration just approved offshore drilling in the Chukchi Sea. Shell is going to start sending exploratory ships, though the company still needs approval from several other federal and state agencies.
