At the end of the day …. “Take me to church”, by Hozier!!

Many advances have been made in the equality movement yet there are still so many places on this earth where loving is conditioned to the “normal” standard: man and woman. Many, who have different lifestyles, are insulted, abused, persecuted, discriminated against, degraded, assaulted and even killed because “they are different”. This video reminds me of the big part that organized religion plays in this situation. All done in the name of what is right or wrong. 

Who is anyone to judge?

Andrew Hozier-Byrne (born 17 March 1990), known simply as Hozier, is an Irish musician from Bray, County Wicklow.

“Take Me to Church” is a song by Irish recording artist Hozier, released as a single in 2013 and taken from the EP Take Me to Church. It is also the first track of his self-titled debut album.

 

~Lyrical interpretation~
Lyrically, Take Me to Church is a metaphor, with the protagonist comparing his lover to religion.

Hozier states to The Irish Times, “I found the experience of falling in love or being in love was a death, a death of everything. You kind of watch yourself die in a wonderful way, and you experience for the briefest moment – if you see yourself for a moment through their eyes – everything you believed about yourself gone. In a death-and-rebirth sense.”

~Music video~
The music video for “Take Me to Church” was directed by Brendan Canty and was released on 25 September 2013. The video, shot in grayscale, follows the relationship between two men in a same-sex relationship and the violently homophobic backlash that ensues when the community learns of one of the men’s sexuality. Hozier himself does not appear in this video.

Ireland’s State magazine noted that the video echoes the wave of violence currently plaguing the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in many parts of the world, particularly Russia. “The song was always about humanity at its most natural, and how that is undermined ceaselessly by religious organizations and those who would have us believe they act in its interests. What has been seen growing in Russia is no less than nightmarish, I proposed bringing these themes into the story and Brendan liked the idea.”

Here’s what it means:

The designer, Piotr Mlodozeniec’s basic coexistence design is uncomplicated and easy to understand. The design uses three symbols that stand for Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Mlodozeniec modified the word “coexist” in the following ways:

for the letter “c,” a crescent moon representing Islam is substituted
for the letter “x,” the Star of David representing Judaism is substituted
for the letter “t,” a cross representing Christianity is substituted
Today, there are several different versions of the coexist design.

Starting with Mlodozeniec’s conception, the newer designs add additional symbols:

for the letter “o,” the peace symbol or pagan/Wiccan pentacle is substituted
for the letter “e,” a male/female symbol or a scientific equation is substituted
for the letter “i,” a pagan/Wiccan symbol is substituted
for the letter “s,” a Chinese yin-yang symbol is substituted

Stop fighting over who created the world and fight against the people who are destroying it.

There are so many wrong things happening in our world today. 

Armed conflicts, wars, willful destruction of our environment and resources, decay of institutions of power and order, abuse, persecution, poverty, hate. Social, economic and environmental issues that affect all. 

It is essential that human beings understand the primary cause of the destruction of our world.

Because we are the only living beings who act against nature, mass consciousness of this psychological issue is fundamental, for this is what gives origin to all our other problems – social, economic, ecological, etc. Our unconscious Inversion causes us to choose destruction rather than health and well being. Without an understanding of this psychological reality, we can do nothing to save ourselves. Our destructive technology has been developed to such a degree that we are today on the brink of destroying ourselves and our planet.

This is why it is urgent for individuals and organizations to cooperate in helping to preserve life and civilization — governments, schools, churches, media outlets, NGOs, community and activist groups and all other people of good will must collaborate if we’re to have any chance of saving our world.
