~What is the goal of A Day Without a Woman?~
The goal is to highlight the economic power and significance that women have in the US and global economies, while calling attention to the economic injustices women and gender nonconforming people continue to face.

 We play an indispensable role in the daily functions of life in all of society, through paid & unpaid, seen & unseen labor.  

We must have the power to control our bodies and be free from gender norms, expectations and stereotypes.

We must free ourselves and our society from the constant awarding of power, agency and resources disproportionately to masculinity, to the exclusion of others.

We must end the hiring discrimination that women, particularly mothers, women of color, women with disabilities, Indigenous women, lesbian, queer and trans women still face each day in our nation.  

We believe that creating workforce opportunities that reduce discrimination against women and mothers allow economies to thrive. Nations and industries that support and invest in care-giving and basic workplace protections – including benefits like paid family leave, access to affordable childcare, sick days, healthcare, fair pay, vacation time, and healthy work environments – have shown growth and increased capacity.

We believe in Gender Justice and the protection of the human rights of gay, lesbian, bi, queer, trans, Two-Spirit and gender nonconforming people.

We believe in an economy powered by transparency, accountability, security and equity.

We believe that all workers must have the right to organize and fight for a living minimum wage, and that unions and other labor associations are critical to a healthy and thriving economy for all. Undocumented and migrant, farm workers and domestic workers must be included in our labor protections, and we stand in full solidarity with the sex workers’ rights movement. We recognize that exploitation for sex and labor in all forms is a violation of human rights.

Here’s Why the 2016 Presidential Election is So Crucial for Liberals and Everything We’ve Worked For

Those are the ages that Supreme Court Justices Stephen Breyer, Anthony Kennedy and Ruth Bader Ginsberg will be when the next president is sworn in, respectively.

The next president we elect (assuming he or she serves two terms) could very well be the individual who selects four Supreme Court Justices.

Yes, our next president could single-handedly shift the balance of power in the Supreme Court one way or the other for the next 20+ years.

The next president might very well select four Supreme Court Justices.

For those who might be struggling to understand just how important it is that a Democrat is in the White House for the next several years, let’s just run through a few issues that would drastically change the scope of this country had the rulings gone differently:

If Republicans as we know them today had stacked the Supreme Court over 40 years ago, abortion would likely be illegal today.

If Democrats had been able to choose enough justices, it’s very likely the Citizens United ruling would have gone against big money in politics.

If Republicans had a larger majority of chosen justices than they do now, it’s likely the Affordable Care Act is overturned.

If the GOP had selected even one more conservative justice over the last few years, it’s very likely that today same-sex marriage bans would still be legal.

How much damage could Republicans do to our voting rights with a Supreme Court loaded with at least 7 conservative justices?

The list just goes on and on.

As Noam Chomsky pointed out, in both “old” and “new” world orders the central goal has pivoted around the issue of control:

Such “particular sectors” as referred to are the minority elite, who pursue controlling strategies to “engineer” nation and international affairs in line with their aims.

And these aims are for the most part based on greed and power; and the need to keep the masses contented and docile.

Each day, we are asking you to spend 5 minutes in meditation, visualization, and prayer to help heal the planet and her inhabitants of this overwhelming anger and intolerance for one another’s beliefs.

We need to pray for an end to hostilities and not only visualize it coming to an end – but KNOWING that it is coming to an end right now! Pray and visualize everyone on the planet honoring and respecting each others belief system – that we are actually raising the vibrations of the Earth, so that we can live in a time of peace, tranquility and honor for all.

Please visualize everything and everyone on earth as being healthy, vibrant, thriving and filled with love … as I was clearly told, “All life on earth depends on this work!“

Please spend just a few minutes each day with the positive intent of seeing our Mother Earth and all life upon her thriving, healthy and strong. This will help change the vibrational patterns that are currently holding us down.”

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month …. October!!

This is very serious. It may affect anyone, in any kind of relationship. Family member, elderly relatives, LGBT community, marriage, domestic partnership. It’s there.

Domestic violence (closely related to domestic abuse, spousal abuse, battering, family violence and intimate partner violence) is a pattern of behavior which involves violence or other abuse by one person against another in a domestic context, such as in marriage or cohabitation. Intimate partner violence is domestic violence against a spouse or other intimate partner.

Domestic violence can take place in heterosexual or same-sex relationships. Domestic violence can take a number of forms including physical, emotional, verbal, economic and sexual abuse, which can range from subtle, coercive forms to marital rape and to violent physical abuse that results in disfigurement or death. Globally, a wife or female partner is more commonly the victim of domestic violence, though the victim can also be the male partner, or both partners may engage in abusive or violent behavior, or the victim may act in self-defense or retaliation.

Domestic violence often occurs because the perpetrator believes that abuse is justified and acceptable, and may produce inter-generational cycles of abuse that condone violence. Awareness, perception, definition and documentation of domestic violence differs widely from country to country. There may be a cycle of abuse during which tensions rise and an act of violence is committed, followed by a period of reconciliation and calm.

Victims of domestic violence may be trapped in domestic violent situations through isolation, power and control, insufficient financial resources, fear, shame or to protect children. As a result of abuse, victims may experience physical disabilities, chronic health problems, mental illness, limited finances, and poor ability to create healthy relationships. Victims may experience post-traumatic stress disorder. Children who live in a household with violence may continue the legacy of abuse when they reach adulthood. Domestic violence often happens in the context of forced and child marriage.

Alcohol consumption and mental illness can be co-morbid with abuse, and present additional challenges in eliminating domestic violence. Management of domestic violence may take place through medical services, law enforcement, counseling, and other forms of prevention and intervention.
