This is why America and its coalition are trying to remove Assad and get a “West Friendly” government in Syria The war against Assad did not start in 2011 with the Arab Spring but at least as early as 2000 when Qatar proposed to construct a $10 billion, 1,500 kilometer pipeline through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Turkey, connecting Qatar directly to the European energy market and reducing the EU’s energy dependence on Russia.
This made it a threat to Russia which sells 70% of its gas exports to Europe.
Assad, remaining loyal to his Russian ally, refused to sign the agreement to allow the pipeline to run through Syria and, instead, approved the “Islamic pipeline” running from Iran’s gas field through Syria to the ports of Lebanon, potentially making Iran the main supplier to the European energy market. Naturally, this did not go down well with the Gulf’s Sunni monarchs allied with the West, Israel, nor the West itself, particularly as it seeks to weaken Russia to the point of the Yeltsin era – back to subservience.
Robert F Kennedy Jr., in February, 2016 wrote,
“Secret cables and reports by the US, Saudi and Israeli intelligence agencies indicate that the moment Assad rejected the Qatari pipeline, military and intelligence planners quickly arrived at the consensus that fomenting a Sunni uprising in Syria to overthrow the uncooperative Bashar Assad was a feasible path to achieving the shared objective of completing the Qatar/Turkey gas link.”
In 2009, according to WikiLeaks, soon after Bashar Assad rejected the Qatar pipeline, the CIA began funding opposition groups in Syria.
In 2011, the US joined France, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and England to form the ‘Friends of Syria Coalition,’ which formally demanded the removal of Assad.
The CIA provided $6 million to Barada, a British TV channel, to produce pieces entreating Assad’s ouster. Saudi intelligence documents, published by WikiLeaks, show that by 2012, Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia were arming, training and funding radical Jihadist Sunni fighters from Syria, Iraq and elsewhere to overthrow the Assad’s Shia allied regime.
Qatar, which had the most to gain, invested $3 billion in building the insurgency and invited the Pentagon to train insurgents at US bases in Qatar.
U.S. personnel also provided logistical support and intelligence to the rebels on the ground.
The Times of London reported on September 14, 2012, that the CIA also armed Jihadists with anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles and other weapons from Libyan armouries that the agency smuggled by ratlines to Syria via Turkey.
According to an April 2014 article by Seymour Hersh, the CIA weapons ratlines were financed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Following Washington’s decision to remove Assad, its Middle Eastern allies, including Turkey, has been assisting anyone and everyone (including ISIS and al-Qaeda) opposing the Syrian government.
Assad has repeatedly said that Turkey was not fighting extremism but actually fomenting it.
In December 2015, German newspaper Deutsche Welle reported that “Military and logistic support from Turkey was the key factor in extremists’ takeover of Idlib”, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said.
The war in Syria has now lasted for seven years. Although its roots lie in peaceful protests against the government, it has become something much more complex.

Britain and France joined the United States in the strikes in a coordinated operation that was intended to show Western resolve in the face of what the leaders of the three nations called persistent violations of international law.
Mr. Drumpf characterized it as the beginning of a sustained effort to force Mr. Assad to stop using banned weapons, but only ordered a limited, one-night operation that hit three targets.
“I have thought from the beginning that Drumpf is a despot who is setting up a fascist government. Unfortunately, as events unfold, I am being proven correct.
Drumpf is the most dangerous president I have seen in my lifetime.
It is not just him, but the billionaires like the Koch brothers, who have been working for several decades to get us to this point. The fascist takeover of our democracy is very close to being successful.’
There’s no way that anyone who is sane and has a functional mind; anyone who hasn’t drank the Kool-Aid; anyone concerned about this country and the world – can’t let their guard down.
This is a historic time for the planet that we live in.

A BRIEF, CONCISE DESCRIPTION OF THIS #MIGRANTCRISIS
The gruesome civil war in Syria started several years ago. Iraq and Afghanistan have been roiling ever since the U.S. invasions more than a decade ago. Ethnic strife and political repression have been common in parts of Africa for even longer. But the wave of migrants seeking sanctuary from these places in the European Union has only spiked this summer, with thousands of asylum seekers arriving every day.
Why are they coming now? It depends on whom you ask.
The migrants themselves, when they arrive in the E.U. by boat on the shores of Greece or walk across border into Hungary, will often say that their choice to migrate in the last few weeks was personal or coincidental.
One Syrian woman, whom TIME met as she walked through northern Serbia with four of her young children, said her husband was imprisoned by the Syrian regime a year ago, and she only fled when he told her how little hope he has of being freed.
A young man from Afghanistan, who came ashore in a packed motorboat on Friday morning on the Greek island of Lesbos, said he left home last week mostly because his parents finally finished the months-long process of scrounging up the money for his journey.

But there are many other factors behind the sudden rush.
Perhaps the main draw for migrants fleeing Syria was the German government’s pledge last month to take all Syrian asylum applications, regardless of how they reach German territory.
Normally, under E.U. rules on migration, a refugee can only claim asylum in the E.U. country he enters first. That means migrants traveling overland from the Middle East can get stuck in the less prosperous nations of southern and eastern Europe. But in light of the chaos unfolding in Syria, German Chancellor Angela Merkel made a promise to all Syrian refugees: if you manage to physically reach Germany, you can apply for asylum in Germany.
The safest and easiest path for these migrants to reach Western Europe is known as the Balkan route, which takes them more than a thousand miles northwest, by land and sea, through Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and Austria. Authorities in Hungary, which is governed by a populist right-wing party called Fidesz, have taken the hardest line against migrants crossing their territory. And in July, their promise to seal off their southern border with Serbia spurred tens of thousands of migrants to take the Balkan route before Hungary severs it with a four-meter high fence.
Unprecedented numbers of refugees continue to land on Europe’s shores every day.
Thousands are willing to risk their lives to reach parts of Europe before winter arrives and EU countries continue to tighten their borders.
This is not their doing.
Through no fault of their own, millions of people had to leave what they knew, their country, their material belongings, their jobs. They are fleeing constant war, persistent shelling, corruption, violence, disruption, torture, death.
They are traveling through uncertain places, through dangerous routes.
Some don’t even know how to swim and they try to cross the Mediterranean Sea.
As we all know plenty have lost their lives.
The civil war in Syria started several years ago.
Iraq and Afghanistan have been very unstable ever since the U.S. invasions more than a decade ago.
There’s a moral responsibility here.
If only for the fact that they are members of the human race.
Some people of the “invaded countries” have shown some heart by even offering their homes to these scared humans who have nothing left now but themselves and their families.
Many have lost family members and/or their whole family.
