ONE YEAR IN A GRAPHIC

2016 has been quite the year.

So many people have been lost, starting with David Bowie and yesterday with George Michael.

Plenty other events have taken place which have, or will affect, the history of our current worldwide society.

Take a look and see which ones you can recognize!

SERIOUSLY

These days have been difficult. Current events in our world have me concerned and make me worry. There use to be a time where you knew you had somewhere to go. Now it seems that negativity and unpleasant events are worldwide.

What are we doing to our society, our communities, our humanity, our world?

It’s worrisome for me.

How can we keep a happy face and a positive attitude in the face of all these calamities?

How can anyone not think about what is going on with us as a race?

Has it always been like this?

How did I miss it before? Did I miss the boat?

I must have been busy living my life.

How can others not be aware?

I know … by keeping your head buried in the sand!

A dear blogger friend taught me this concept.

~IN HER OWN WORDS~

IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”’

THIS IS SERIOUS FOR ME

Get returning vets the care they deserve and end the VA backlog …..

http://www.causes.com/actions/1739855-end-the-vabacklog?recruiter_id=74782503&reposter=621456&utm_campaign=sharebar&utm_medium=wall&utm_source=fb

To: President Obama
Disability benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are designed to fill the gaps in loss of earnings potential and quality of life caused by injuries sustained during military service – but hundreds of thousands of vets are waiting unacceptably long for their claims to be processed. We’re calling on President Obama to appoint a Presidential Commission to #EndTheVABacklog.

A recent report from the Center for Investigative Reporting cites documents authenticated by VA that state:

On average, returning vets are waiting between 316 days; 327 days for decisions after filing their claim.
Despite spending hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars developing a digital claims process, 97% of claims are still on paper.
The wait:
-490 days in New Orleans
-619 in Los Angeles
-612 in Indianapolis
-586 in Houston
-642 in New York
-681 in Reno
– and the list goes on ……..

It’s time to start taking care of our own. As a country, we must keep the promise we made to the millions of disabled veterans who have served and sacrificed to defend our nation. We must support them with the care and compensation they deserve.

Stand with IAVA, the 2.5 million veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, the 21 million veterans of all generations, and demand that President Obama commits to finding a solution to this problem by creating a Presidential Commission to end the VA backlog.
