~~January 21, 2014~~

The “IdealisticRebel” from http://idealisticrebel.wordpress.com has nominated “It Is What It Is” for an award that she has recently created.

First and foremost, I want to thank my dear friend for considering “It Is What It Is” for this award. It’s a recognition that carries a lot of responsibility and honor. It warms my heart to be considered and to be included among the great bloggers that she has selected for her first nomination.

THANK YOU …. I humbly accept this nomination and I promise to continue to do my part, in my little corner of the world …. to try, against all odds,  to make this world a better one.

~~In her own words~~

“I am creating this new award to recognize those bloggers at WordPress who are working to make a difference in the world.

Recipients of the “Working to Change the World Award” work hard and sincerely to make the world a better place, using their compassion, love and understanding, promoting open minds, free communication of ideas and, above all, peace.

There are people who do not accept awards who are deserving and I just want you to know that I appreciate all of the work that you do on your Blog here at WordPress.

~~The Rules~~

  1. Post the award on your blog
  2. Link back to the person you nominated you
  3. List one thing — however small — that you think would make the world better if everyone did it
  4. Nominate bloggers whom you feel help to Change the World — there’s no minumum or maximum, just a list of those you feel are deserving

I am proud to be part of the WordPress Family with you.

The graphic that the IdealisticRebel has chosen is a photo that she herself took at the Garden in the Holocaust Museum located in Miami, Florida. I find this photo to be very fitting. The Holocaust was a very sad time in history. Many people were affected in one way or another. It signified the genocide of 6 million Jews.

There definitely had to be many people “working to change the world” at the time.

I believe that in all historical times there always are people trying to change the world for the good. It’s a hard, difficult task …. many a times considered almost impossible. Yet, many persists and manage to step forward inch by inch … to those looking, it seems that there isn’t any progress.

It is in the little matters, in the “insignificant” events, in the human circumstances where these changes are noticed.

~~LIST ONE THING~~

To try to change the world, we must first try to change ourselves. It starts at that level. Otherwise, there won’t be any change.

I like to imagine this as a “domino effect” …. start little and eventually others will follow.

There are several of the nominees that the “Idealistic Rebel” has chosen that I would nominate also. These are people who I have met in the “blogosphere” and I know they are trying to make a change … in their own way.

For the sake of “spreading” this joy around, I will select other bloggers who also fit the category of “working to change the world”.

I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)

Anyone else remember the 70’s?

From Wikipedia:
“I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)” is a pop song which originated as a jingle in the groundbreaking 1971 “Hilltop” television commercial for Coca-Cola. The song, produced by Billy Davis and performed by The New Seekers, portrayed a positive message of hope and love sung by a multicultural collection of teenagers on the top of a hill.
