The ‘Last Week Tonight’ host broke down Trump’s sexist treatment of the former Miss Universe – and women in general.

Last week, John Oliver celebrated his long-awaited return to his HBO program Last Week Tonight with an extensive breakdown of how “dangerous” Donald Trump’s litany of scandals are – and far more damning than those of his opponent, Hillary Clinton.
The big story this week concerned Trump’s bizarre preoccupation with former 1996 Miss Universe Alicia Machado.

After getting steamrolled in the first presidential debate and making the bold claim that “I think my strongest asset, maybe by far, is my temperament,” Trump went absolutely ballistic over Machado, who was invoked by Clinton during the debate as a prime example of Trump’s gross history of misogyny – with the Republican presidential candidate referring to the beauty queen as “Miss Piggy” in the past.

Oliver then cut to a 1997 interview with Trump and Machado, wherein Trump chided the Venezuelan stunner for gaining weight in front of her face, and then urged viewers of the program to participate in an online poll asking:

“Should a pageant titleholder be required to maintain her physical appearance during her reign?”

‘Saturday Night Live’ recreates the presidential debate in its season premiere

It was amazingly brutal and truthful.

Both candidates got their share of jabs but, of course, Mr. Trump got the majority of them.

It was a worthwhile performance.

It had me laughing my head off!

Kudos to the staff … mainly Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin.

After a long summer, “Saturday Night Live” is back for its 42nd season.

With the presidential election just five weeks away, the writers and cast had a lot of material to work with. Naturally, they began Saturday’s season premiere with a cold open, recreating last week’s presidential debate.

Former lead star of “30 Rock” Alec Baldwin played Republican nominee Donald Trump – a new addition to this season of SNL – while Kate McKinnon played Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, which has been her role the last several seasons.

Michael Che played debate moderator Lester Holt.

In the 10 minute skit, the actors reenacted the debate almost exactly as it happened, hitting all of the major moments, including Clinton’s line “Trumped-up trick down economics,” Trump’s sniffles, which debate organizers say were picked up by a bad microphone, the moment where Trump essentially admitted he doesn’t pay taxes and when Clinton mentioned 1996 Miss Universe Alicia Machado toward the end of the debate.

SURVIVED THE FIRST DEBATE

Whew!

Over and done.

I felt apprehensive as I waited for the first debate, I must confess.

I watched the full 90 minutes.

By the time about 20 minutes had gone by, I was at peace, breathing much easier.

I knew what was going to happen.

He unraveled, she stood steadfast.

Yes, Secretary Clinton was the winner.

It’s not my judgement, it’s the ‘peoples’ judgement.

I have my choice.

It’s always interesting to see other people’s take.

When there’s humor, it’s even better.

GENDER IS A FACTOR

On the day of the first presidential debate for Elections 2016, the gender of one of the candidates has been and will, most likely, be brought into play.

As a woman, I like the strong female personality Hillary presents.

There’s no comparison between Hillary and Trump.

It’s like comparing gold to tin!

Talking about cheating this way is really a low blow!

Granted, some think these are not the best candidates.

In my mind there is no doubt that there one with substance and the other is plain puffed hair!

I know who I’m voting for.

May the best woman win!

Gender politics playing a big role for Trump, Clinton

She has no stamina. She shouts. She’s got nothing going for her but being a woman.

Donald Trump, after toying with gender politics off and on during the campaign, is all in on a mission to undercut Hillary Clinton‘s credentials by syncing up his say-anything campaign strategy with his alpha-male persona.

The same Republican presidential candidate who mocked “little” Marco Rubio, dismissed “low-energy” Jeb Bush and promises to “cherish” and “protect” women as president is dismissing the former senator, secretary of state and first lady as little more than a token female who’s playing the “woman’s card.”

“Frankly, all I’m doing is stating the obvious,” Trump insisted, when pressed about whether his latest Clinton take-downs were sexist.

“Without the woman’s card, Hillary would not even be a viable person to run for city council.”

That message may resonate with one subset of the electorate and touch off outrage with another. But for many other voters, Trump’s line of attack is simply baffling when America is trying to deal with far more complex matters of gender, such as gay marriage and transgender rights.

“If fighting for women’s health care, and paid family leave, and equal pay is playing the woman card,” she said, “then deal me in.”
