GOOD NIGHT, DEAR FRIENDS

It’s been a hectic day.

Sick kids, kid care at home, medical appointment.

Not to name the political shenanigans that are currently going on.

It’s stressful to hear the ‘announcements’ from one of the candidates if he doesn’t win the presidential election.

When I got home, I found that my PC has no ‘functional screen’.

It’s all black.

The PC won’t ‘activate’.

Therefore, a trip to the store will be needed tomorrow morning.

I don’t know what’s up or when I’ll be able to post as usual.

I’m hoping for the best.

(Maybe it’s time to buy a new PC?)

The Taíno (means “peace” in their language, a mix of Arawak Native) natives of the Great Antilles, were the people who greeted Columbus, and with that, have changed the source of history.

On Nov.23,1493, on Christopher Columbus’s second voyage to the “new world,” he landed somewhere in Puerto Rico on what is known now as the city of Aguadilla. He saw these middle height, bronze skinned people, totally naked, but decorated with paint and feathers, people.

The first word that came from these mysterious people mouths were, “taíno.”

This word meant peace, and that is what Columbus called them for then on, and was surprised at how peaceful and organized they were, and said that their language was the so sweet and the best he have ever heard. Actually, the taino people did not call themselves taino, but Boricua and the island Columbus landed on, Borinquen.

Boricua means ‘people of valiant and noble lord’ and Borinquen means ‘home of the valiant and noble lord’.

The Taino were not only in Puerto Rico. They were in the Great Antilles (Puerto Rico, Cuba, Hispanola (Dominican Republic and Haiti]) and in the Bahamas.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability.
