For us mere mortals, a nice bag or dinner at a fancy restaurant would do, but when youโre trying to buy a gift for someone who has everything and then some, gift ideas are a little more tricky.
At least, thatโs what youโve got to assume after Portia de Rossi, 45, gave wife Ellen DeGeneres her very own namesake gorilla conservation centre to celebrate her 60th birthday.
And because an elaborate birthday present doesnโt really count unless millions of people know about it, Portia made an appearance onย The Ellen DeGeneres Showย to give Ellen the gift.
Introducing the gift, Portia said she wanted to give her something that โrepresents who you are and what you really care about. And not just now, but what youโve always cared about. What you were influenced by and what has made you the amazing person that you are todayโ.
So she made a donation to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund so large that it will fund the creation of a permanent home, the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, in Rwanda for the organization that protects endangered mountain gorillas.

A new musical mashup by Michael Korte, the YouTube personality that conceived the pop culture collision of a Hamilton/Beyoncรฉ mashup seeks to do just that with #PURPLE4PRINCE, an ode to his Purpleness mixed with the songs of The Color Purple musical, a combination that’s fitting in more ways than one.

Baker passed away last year at the age of 65.
Today, he would have turned 66.
Google on Friday, June 2, ย used its latest Doodle to celebrate American artist and gay rights activist Gilbert Baker, creator of the rainbow flag that has become a symbol of pride for LGBTQ individuals around the world.
Baker made his way from Kansas to San Francisco with the U.S. Army.
After leaving the military, Baker taught himself to sew and volunteered his skills to make protest banners for the city’s gay community.

In 1978, influential gay leader Harvey Milk challenged Baker to create a new symbol for activists to rally around. The most widely used icon at the time was the pink triangle, reclaimed from the symbol used during World War II to identify gay prisoners being held in Nazi concentration camps.
While it may have been a potent symbol of common suffering and struggle, Baker wanted to create something more positive and celebratory to bind the growing LGBT movement together.
The first rainbow flag Baker put together with volunteers in the attic of the Gay Community Center included eight differently colored horizontal stripes with their own meaning. After Milk’s assassination later that year, demand for the flag exploded and the limited availability of some fabric meant reducing the number of stripes to today’s six.
