Watch slam poet send an emotional message as he tears into Trump’s executive order on Muslims and immigration.
Immigrants of many countries are having a very rough time now.
In a country very well know for arising from a melting pot of immigrants, it’s not the norm to see this hatred, discrimination, racism and every thing else that has become the standards of the current administration.
Emotional Speech at L.A. Vigil for Orlando Shooting Victims
‘This Is an Attack on Humanity Itself’
On Monday, Juine 13, Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at the Los Angeles vigil for the victims of the tragic Orlando nightclub shooting, and shared emotional words with the gathered crowd of thousands.
“As we have now witnessed the largest mass shooting in American history, I can’t help but feel that this level of hatred, like all prejudicial crimes, this is an attack on humanity itself,” said Gaga, who was dressed simply, in all black. “Tonight, I gather humbly with you, as a human being, in peace, in sincerity, in commitment, in solidarity, to take a real moment and mourn the tragic loss of these innocent, beautiful people.”
Ricky Martin Joins Anti-Trump Effort, Nixes Charity Golf Tourney from Trump’s Golf Club in Puerto Rico
Ricky Martin is not only a world-class singer and performer, but he’s also a philanthropist, a supporter of marriage equality and gay rights. When he heard Donald’s hurtful comments about Mexican immigrants, he couldn’t allow himself to be professionally associated with someone who preaches such ignorance and negativity to the world.
Martin has pulled the annual Ricky Martin Foundation charity golf event at the Trump International Golf Club Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, according to a press release.
The Puerto Rican Grammy and Latin Grammy winner is joining the anti-Donald Trump movement along with Macy’s, Univision, NBC Universal and Televisa as well as fellow entertainers RoselynSanchez and J Balvin in cutting off business affiliations and/or ties to Trump.
Martin’s tweet was sparked by Univision taking the initiative to drop the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants after the Republican candidate’s derogatory campaign speech.
“When Mexico sends its people they’re not sending the best,” Trump said. “They’re not sending you, they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems.
They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime.
They’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they’re telling us what we’re getting.”

Bree Newsome, the woman who climbed a flag pole as dawn broke in Columbia, S.C. to remove the Confederate flag that flies in front of the statehouse, has been called “courageous” and a “superhero.”
“We made this decision because for us, this is not simply about a flag, but rather it is about abolishing the spirit of hatred and oppression in all its forms,” Newsome added.
‘I refuse to be ruled by fear’.
They decided that a black woman should be the one to remove cut the flag down and that a white man, activist James Tyson, 30, would help her over the fence “as a sign that our alliance transcended both racial and gender divides.” Tyson was also arrested on Saturday.
Taking Down The Confederate Flag Won’t ‘Solve’ Racism
If removing the flag could counter the impact of centuries of oppression, that would be incredible. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. The Confederate flag may no longer be flying over the capitol, but the families of the nine Emanuel AME Church members who were killed in the name of hatred will still never be the same.
It might seem obvious that removing the flag won’t “solve” racism, but the sentiment bears repeating. Taking down the Confederate flag is just a band-aid over a gaping wound, and right now, our country is still bleeding.
Not the usual theme or topic “to start the day”. Yet I haven’t been able to shake off this feeling of apprehension …. “something is going to happen thing”.
It all started as I read a post about the Indiana “Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993“. I read different reactions from the public, other Facebook users and plenty more op-eds about this topic.
One of the Facebook users made a comment about this song. I’m very familiar with it and revisited it this morning.
It’s sad to think that we could be very close to this day.
There is so much hatred, so much destruction, so much discrimination, so much negativity present on our Earth ….. what would be the solution?? Any thoughts?
Sometimes it seems that we’ve crossed the “point of no return”!!
“Eve of Destruction” is a protest song written by P. F. Sloan in 1965. Several artists have recorded it, but the best-known recording was by Barry McGuire.
This recording was made between July 12 and July 15, 1965 and released by Dunhill Records. The accompanying musicians were top-tier LA session players: P. F. Sloan on guitar, Hal Blaine (of Phil Spector’s “Wrecking Crew”) on drums, and Larry Knechtel on bass. The vocal track was thrown on as a rough mix and was not intended to be the final version, but a copy of the recording “leaked” out to a DJ, who began playing it. The song was an instant hit and as a result the more polished vocal track that was at first envisioned was never recorded.
McGuire’s single hit #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1965.
The eastern world, it is exploding
Violence flarin’, bullets loadin’
You’re old enough to kill, but not for votin’
You don’t believe in war, but what’s that gun you’re totin’
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin’
But you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destrction.
Don’t you understand what I’m tryin’ to say
Can’t you feel the fears I’m feelin’ today?
If the button is pushed, there’s no runnin’ away
There’ll be no one to save, with the world in a grave
[Take a look around ya boy, it’s bound to scare ya boy]
And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.
Yeah, my blood’s so mad feels like coagulatin’
I’m sitting here just contemplatin’
I can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation.
Handful of senators don’t pass legislation
And marches alone can’t bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin’
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin’
And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.
Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
You may leave here for 4 days in space
But when you return, it’s the same old place
The poundin’ of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don’t leave a trace
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don’t forget to say grace
And, tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend
You don’t believe
We’re on the eve
Of destruction
Mm, no no, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.

~~Eve of Destruction~~
~~Uploaded on Jun 22, 2008~~
This song was written and published 50 years ago. The initial pictures show the happenings of times when it was released. As the pictures change, you see different events, government officials, presidents, senators …. wondering: What has changed during these 50 years?
Out of the hatred, impulsiveness, greed, stupidity of more than a few in America, we seem to be again perilously very closely to the precipice of another war.
My thinking process must be limited because I don’t see the logic behind their actions.
When you look at these graphics, we don’t see any difference between the land masses.
Please …. PEACE!!!

“From A Distance”
From a distance the world looks blue and green,
and the snow-capped mountains white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
and the eagle takes to flight.
From a distance, there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
It’s the voice of hope, it’s the voice of peace,
it’s the voice of every man.
From a distance we all have enough,
and no one is in need.
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease,
no hungry mouths to feed.
From a distance we are instruments
marching in a common band.
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace.
They’re the songs of every man.
God is watching us. God is watching us.
God is watching us from a distance.
From a distance you look like my friend,
even though we are at war.
From a distance I just cannot comprehend
what all this fighting is for.
It doesn’t take a genius …. the root of the world’s problems.
“To expand, the idea that we are not all one and don’t have to work together. This creates the sense of “other”. This leads to people believing they have enemies. This leads to greed, envy and hatred. And war. Always war.”
