Debuts at No. 1 With More Than 4 Million in Sales

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” the script book for J.K. Rowling’s new play, sold more than four million print copies in its first week in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., the book’s publishers said Wednesday.

Print sales for the script book have totaled 3.3 million in North America and nearly 850,000 in the U.K. since its release on July 31, according to Scholastic and Little, Brown Book Group.

Billed as the eighth Harry Potter story, the script book has also boosted sales of the original seven “Harry Potter” novels.

Alex Boyé is an artist that I’ve followed since I first heard him perform with The Piano Guys in Peponi.  His voice and talent as superb. His style definitely changes every song that he covers.

Recording artist Alex Boyé has released an “African tribal cover” of Adele’s latest hit “Hello,” which he performs while dressed like a storm-trooper from Star Wars.

It is the musician’s way of paying tribute to two of the most popular topics on the Internet: Adele’s new album 25 and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the latest film in the popular fantasy franchise, which opened in theaters Dec. 18.

As the London-born singer sums up his music

“I take pop songs and Africanize them.”

Nathan Chan (born 1993) is a Chinese-American cellist from Hillsborough, CA. He has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Albany Symphony Orchestra, among others, and was featured in the HBO Show, “The Music in Me: Children’s Recitals From Classical to Latin to Jazz to Zydeco” as well as Channel 4’s “The World’s Greatest Musical Prodigies”.

Leron Zamir, a cellist who hails from Dallas, TX. He has performed extensively in the southeast region in addition to being a studio cellist. He has made appearances with the MTSU Symphony, the Sewanee Symphony, and Roy “Futureman” Wooten’s Black Mozart Ensemble.

He was the recipient of the Holy Cross Bach Fest Scholarship, Nashville Symphony Orchestra League, Thor Johnson Scholarship Finalist, and was invited to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Leron Zamir has performed masterclasses with teachers such as Natalia Koma, YeonJin Kim, Julia Tanner, Eric Kutz, Peter Sheppard, and Yo-Yo Ma.

Cremaine completed his undergraduate studies under Dr. Christine Kim at the Middle Tennessee State University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree under Gregory Sauer at the Florida State University. His previous teachers include Xiao-Fan Zhang, Paul York, Natasha Farny, and Kirsten Cassel-Greer.

OUTSTANDING COVER

Adele’s “Hello”

Before going into the actual post, I must confess that I have totally fallen in love with Adele’s new musical project.

I have been listening to her new CD “25” and must say that I’m totally taken by it.

I know I’m not the only one because everything seems to be Adele nowadays. She was on a visit to New York City and hit all the major talk and late night shows. She appeared on Jimmy Fallon and was hilarious.

She also filmed a TV special for NBS which will air December 14 at 10 PM. One show that I will surely record and watch at my leisure.

Ellen DeGeneres made a parody of her “Hello” which was quite entertaining. Heather Rooney, an incredible illustrator, painted a colored pencil picture of Adele.

I found this video, a rendition of Adele’s “Hello” by the Southern University Marching Band and the Dancing Dolls.

Southern University Marching Band’s Outstanding Cover

Southern University, “of Baton Rouge, not New Orleans: this distinction is incredibly important” as noted by USA Today, takes on Grambling State in the Bayou Classic every year, this year having been the 42nd face-off between the teams, according to the Bayou Classic’s website.

Southern University competed in the Bayou Classic Battle of the Bands on November 27, 2015, and they came to impress. With a stacked horns section, the band covered Adele’s chart-topping single ‘Hello’ with unparalleled power as the Dancing Dolls accompanied the band from the field.

Record-breaking ‘Hello,’ which is currently one of the most popular songs in the country (it has been at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 list for five weeks now) was the perfect card for Southern University’s marching band to play.

While Adele’s power-ballad might not be the first thing you think of when considering marching band music, the orchestration of the original track leaves plenty of room for the song to be adapted to a full marching band arrangement. The resulting harmonies are out of this world — just make sure you don’t have the volume turned up too high, these horn players mean serious business.

Starbucks defended the blank holiday design as welcoming of people’s different stories.

THE HUNGER GAMES 

It’s no secret.

I’m an ardent fan and follower of both the trilogy books and the movies.

I read the books a while ago but the memories are still there.

Any movie hardly ever does justice to any book it’s based on.

However, the way these movies were made impressed me; particularly Jennifer Lawrence’s role.

All of the actors were excellent.

The last installment will be in theaters by November 20th.

I can’t hardly wait.

Will be somewhat saddened when it’s done; the same way I was when I finished the last book.
