Thoughts for today, #240 …. “Let’s get our priorities straight”!!

PRIORITIES … SET PRIORITIES STRAIGHT

Most of our citizenry believes that hunger only affects people who are lazy or people who are just looking for a handout, people who don’t want to work, but, sadly, that is not true.

Over one-third of our hungry people are innocent children who are members of households that simply cannot provide enough food or proper nutrition.

And to think of the elderly suffering from malnutrition is just too hard for most of us.

Unlike Third World nations, in our country the problem is not having too little – it is about not caring enough!

Write your elected representatives and promote support for the hungry.

WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE ME?

Who are you to judge me,
Based on the way I look,
Do you always judge a story,
By the cover of the book?

Who are you to judge me,
By the way I dress and what I wear?
Who are you to judge me,
By the way I wear my hair?

Who are you to judge me,
By the things you imagine I do?
When you don’t bother to figure out for sure,
What exactly is or isn’t true …

That’s my point,
You’re no one at all,
You judge me for one reason,
So you can feel tall …

You judge me because you want to,
And because it makes you feel better inside,
Because my imperfections aren’t yours,
But your flaws won’t always hide …

I’m my own judge,
And you’re your own too,
So judge yourself,
And the things that you do …

Because I’m tired of being judged,
By people who think they know me,
Who refuse to judge themselves,
Because they aren’t as perfect as they could be …

To start the day …. “Freezing, homeless child …. Social Experiment!!”

Freezing homeless child abandoned on street in social experiment …

but who helps him?

The social experiment was set up to see how many people would stop to offer assistance to the little boy as he lay on the street

If you saw a homeless child on the street, would you walk by without a second thought?

A shocking social experiment shows the moment a freezing young homeless boy was ignored for two hours by passersby as he led on the street shivering in a bin bag.

Holding a cardboard sign and wearing nothing more than a t-shirt, the little boy sat on the cold streets of New York, waiting for someone to make contact with him or offer him help.

After a long 120 minutes, the little boy was finally approached by a man who sat down next to him and offered him his coat and some of his money.

But as the man gave up his possessions to the boy, he revealed something even more shocking – he was homeless himself.

Addressing the child, the man said: “I’m homeless, you know. And me being the older homeless person – we have to look out for each other.”

OckTV, who organized the social experiment, were so touched by the homeless man’s gesture that they offered him $500 in cash (£327) before explaining that the boy wasn’t actually abandoned.

The clip, which was uploaded to YouTube two months ago by OckTV, has clocked up a massive 15.7 million + views.
