Many have been inspired by Mónica Puig, including me.

But in this paper I refer to her mother, Astrid Marchán, who always has accompanied Mónica throughout her career.

But why her?

Because she contributed largely to what today is Mónica. Her mother has been an instrument of support and inspiration to achieve help her reach her achievements.

So why not give “Honor to whom honor deserves“? Astrid expressed in many interviews the great frustrations that have passed and how much I had to emotionally support your daughter to get up and keep fighting.

Monica, loving, family and above all humble, its quality that has led to be the “querendona” of Puerto Rico. She grew up in a united family environment, but above all respect. Her mother relates that Monica played all sports and was always a very active person. In the end her mother was leaning more for the sport of tennis and then went there. She always had their support, especially her mother, who says he always loved sports. But above all we teach the importance of maintaining the family togetherness that characterizes them.

And by that I mean, our effort is key to the success of our children.

It is our responsibility to them. And I do not mean to reflect ourselves in them and try to fix our frustrations, if not support them in what they really want, your goals. Every successful person needs this pillar encourages and revives again and again, and better than that person is your mom. She, who watched you grow, who gave you life and who better to know what you need and when you need.

I remember when this song came out.

At the time, I was realizing the nature of my sexuality.

Every time there was an outing to a gay bar in Puerto Rico, the song would play.

When it did, all present would stand up, sing, dance and do their “thing”.

It became an anthem for the reality of the LGBT community then.

I must thank Gloria Gaynor for her hit song.

I find it fitting to end the day, the second month after the horrible shooting at the Orlando bar PULSE, with a version of this song.

We will survive … with pain in our hearts.

Will never forget …

But, we will survive.

Physiological or biological stress is an organism’s response to a stressor such as an environmental condition or a stimulus. Stress is a body’s method of reacting to a challenge.

According to the stressful event, the body’s way to respond to stress is by sympathetic nervous system activation which results in the fight-or-flight response. Trust …. how important is it?

“One of the pillars of a relationship — whether it’s with family or friends — is trust.

Trusting relationships will encourage family and friends to spend more quality time with you. Building trust also fosters positive communication among family and friends. Whereas negative communication or no communication at all demonstrates mistrust. If you are new to a family or friendship or you are trying to repair a broken relationship, there are steps you can take to help them learn how to trust you.”

~~MY POINT HERE IS DIRECTED TO FRIENDSHIPS~~

Step 1

Communicate your feelings genuinely with family members. Expressing your individuality helps your loved ones learn to trust who you are, according to a Utah State University program designed to strengthen family ties. If you are honest about how you feel in all situations, your loved ones can learn to trust your words whether they agree with what you say or not. Use tact when expressing yourself so that you can avoid any unnecessary hurt feelings.

Step 2

Use active listening skills when your family and friends talk to you. Knowing that you are truly listening helps build trust because active listening demonstrates that you care about their words. Active listening skills include making eye contact, refraining from interrupting and occasionally nodding your head. Use phrases such as “I understand” and reflect what they say when they make a point.

Step 3

Keep your promises. Following through with your promises demonstrates dependability, which fosters trust in relationships with family and friends. If you have to break a promise, make sure you have a reasonable explanation for doing so.

Step 4

Become altruistic. Families tend to have more positive relationships when members act altruistically, which is defined as performing actions for others with no regard to personal benefit. Helping your family or friends in an emergency situation is an example of altruism. When family and friends see you go out of your way for them, they can count on you to be there for them.

Some of you know that I had a difficult day yesterday.

My main goal it to put the incident behind me. There’s no importance in things that are unimportant. There’s no importance to things that have no value. The world goes on and so does my life.

Today is s a better day thanks to the friends who stepped up to offer words of comfort. For that I’m very grateful.
