Google Doodle for Today …. “💫✨ Dr. Maya Angelou Honored On Her 90th Birthday ✨💫 …. “!!

~~April 4, 2018~~

Oprah Winfrey, Alicia Keys and others celebrate the prolific writer with a reading of her famed poem “Still I Rise.”

‘Google Doodle for Today’ appeared regularly on this blog.

“Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans.”

John Lennon

That’s what happened to these postings.

However, I couldn’t let this one pass.

Maya Angelou’s birthday!

Prolific poet and writer Maya Angelou would’ve turned 90 on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
To honor and celebrate the phenomenal woman who penned the powerful “Still I Rise,” Google has dedicated the day’s doodle on its search homepage to Angelou, who died in 2014 at age 86.

The doodle is accompanied by an animated reading of “Still I Rise,” featuring the voices of celebrities she influenced, including Oprah Winfrey, Alicia Keys, America Ferrera and Laverne Cox. Her only son, Guy Johnson, also lends his voice.

“Maya Angelou is not what she has done or written or spoken, it’s how she did it all,” Winfrey told Google.

“She moved through the world with unshakeable calm, confidence, and a fiery, fierce grace and abounding love.”

Wednesday also marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., a friend of the author’s.

For more than 30 years, in lieu of celebrating her birthday, Angelou sent flowers to Coretta Scott King on April 4.

“As it appears in … full read/full credit”

The Dedicated Blogger Award …. “Second Nomination …. TY, Coach”!!

~~February 10, 3016~~

Sometimes I wonder, as I sit at my PC every day, if there’s anyone out there somewhere, who benefits from my attempt to bring information, data, music, history, politics, featuring Puerto Rico (my country) …. into their electronic devices.

There’s always the question, in my mind, if it does.

Sometimes I don’t know what topic to address. Others I wonder if the post is good enough.

Yet I post and post and post, hoping that, in any way, someone is helped, entertained, informed and smile.

Coach from “Good Time Stories”

has nominated

“It Is What It Is”

…. for this award.

This is our second nomination.

Receiving any kind of award is always an honor.

It’s always humbling.

It’s always an eye opener in the sense that there IS someone out there who may “stumble” into this spot and find something that resonates with them and may even be helpful.

For this, I am very grateful.

To quote the “IdealisticRebel”

Blogging, some say, is losing ground on the Internet.

Many people are now using Twitter or Snapchat or Instagram to convey their thoughts, leaving the more ‘old-fashioned’ blog behind.

But there are those who understand that, sometimes, a long form is best.

Who know that it takes time, and craft, and WORDS as well as images to convey a thought, and to start a conversation.

This Award is dedicated to those bloggers who consistently provide wisdom, inspiration, kindness, gentleness and truth to the world through their blogs.

This is a my “thank you” to you.

Please, pass it on!
