TRAGEDY STRIKES PUERTO RICO’S NATIONAL GUARD
PORT WENTWORTH, GEORGIA
Surveillance video captured a 1950’s-era military cargo plane plunging to the ground. The C-130 aircraft exploded into flames on a busy Georgia highway Wednesday, May 2, killing all nine crew members aboard.
The Puerto Rico National Guard plane took off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport shortly before 11:30 a.m. and was headed for retirement.
Surveillance video from a nearby business captured what happened next, CBS News correspondent Mark Strassmann reports. The plane banked left before nose-diving and spiraling into the ground. Seconds later, a fireball and black smoke went shooting into the sky.
The plane crashed into the median of the highway, narrowly avoiding traffic, warehouses and a nearby gas station.
The pilot was identified as Maj. José Rafael Román, who hails from the coastal town of Manatí along Puerto Rico’s north coast. The mayor of that town, José Sánchez, told The Associated Press that Román had two young boys and his wife is five months pregnant with a girl.
“The town is in mourning,” Sanchez said.
“My condolences to all Puerto Rican families.”
On Thursday, the Puerto Rico National Guard identified the other crew members as 1st Lt. David Albandoz, Master Sgt. Jean Audriffred, Master Sgt. Mario Brana, Master Sgt. Eric Circuns, Master Sgt. Víctor Colón, Senior Airman Roberto Espada, Senior Master Sgt. Jan Paravisini and Maj. Carlos Pérez Serra.

HERE’S WHAT YOUR U.S. HISTORY BOOKS WON’T TELL YOU ABOUT PUERTO RICO
Hurricane María struck Puerto Rico with unprecedented force
Over six months later, the majority of the island remains without clean water or electricity and over 200,000 have relocated to the United States.
Video discusses Hurricane María and its aftermath.

IT’S RESTORING, NOT UPDATING
My heart and soul ache for my country.
There’s so much need and so little help from the ‘owner’ of the colony.
The governance of the mighty, imperialistic U.S. of A. doesn’t care.
That says a lot to me!
I know where my loyalty lies.

~BREAKING: Island of Puerto Rico Experiencing Blackout~
NowThis Facebook Video
Puerto Rico has experienced an islandwide blackout seven months after Hurricane María hit the island and devastated much of its infrastructure.
Every single power customer on the U.S. territory is without power, NPR’s Adrian Florido reports from San Juan.
More than 3 million people are affected. It’s the first total blackout since Hurricane María.
PREPA, Puerto Rico’s electrical utility, says a fault was detected on a transmission line between two power plants and that service will be restored gradually. It could take 24 to 36 hours for power to be restored for some customers, the utility says.
Hospitals, the island’s main airport, water pumping systems and banking centers will receive priority as PREPA works to restore service.
This is the first complete blackout since the hurricane, but over that seven-month span, the island had never restored full service. Before this blackout began, The Associated Press says, 40,000 people in Puerto Rico still had not regained “normal electricity service.”
In February, an explosion at a power substation plunged San Juan back into darkness. Earlier this month, a tree fell on a transmission line and cut power to more than half the island’s population, as Adrian has reported:
“The accident occurred in the region of Cayey, where crews were working to restore power to people still waiting nearly seven months after Hurricane María. Increasingly, that work requires clearing away heavily forested mountainsides to gain access to the large utility poles that carry transmission lines from one mountain peak to the next. “It was during that kind of work that a tree falling toward the ground made contact with the power line instead.
~Why is it so hard for power to be restored in Puerto Rico?~
As Tim Webber reported for NPR last fall, the island is struggling with an “outdated, aboveground power grid” that has lagged behind infrastructure improvements in the rest of America.

WE REMEMBER HOW THIS TURNED OUT!
The job of restoring power on Puerto Rico after Hurricane María is mammoth in size
And a contract held by a subsidiary of Oklahoma City-based Mammoth Energy Services involved in doing the work is getting big, too.

MY HEART AND SOUL ACHE FOR MY COUNTRY!!
~~March 31, 2018~~
HONORING PUERTO RICO
PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPH MADE WITH ‘LIVE COLLAGE’
“That looks like a Puerto Rican statue of liberty on steroids.”
(a friend told me)
Some of you may know, others not.
I am a fan of tattoos, having a few of them myself.
I’m also Puerto Rican, born and raised, living in the mainland.
Since September 20, 2017, when Hurricane María battered and almost flattened my country, my personal feelings have come to the surface.
My heart and soul ache for Puerto Rico.
It’s been a week today since I visited my tattoo artist for add ons, updates, coloring and completion.
Colors, shading, The ‘cemí’, the hibiscus flowers, the ‘Taíno coquí’ and the ‘Taíno sun‘ were completed.
The process is almost totally done.
Only minor details for the last sitting.
My tattoo artist, Barefoot Stacy, is amazing!
Here it is!
This is a proud Boricua woman, holding her head up high, ready to hold her stand and give the good fight.
This happens in Puerto Rico every minute of every day.
The fortitude of the Puerto Rican woman has been tested during the trying times since Hurricane María battered the Island on September 20, 2018, a bit beyond six months ago today.
I wanted to share another ‘almost complete’ result with you today.
More will follow as it’s totally done.

We added a ‘cemí’, several hibiscus flowers and a ‘Taíno coquí’.
A touch of red was added too.

MEET BADASS PUERTO RICAN WOMEN PROVING HIM WRONG
By Lisa Marie Segarra
(September 30, 2017)
‘So-Called President Donald Drumpf‘ criticized Puerto Rico Sunday morning on Twitter, claiming there is “poor leadership ability” among officials and that they “want everything to be done for them” after Hurricane Maria devastated the island.
The series of tweets against Puerto Rican officials began when Trump said Mayor of San Juan Carmen Yulín Cruz has been “nasty” to him after after allegedly being asked to act that way by Democrats.
