~IN HER OWN WORDS~

IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”

Something to think about …. “No Mud, No Lotus”!!

MudLotus

~October 11, 2015~~

LOTUS FLOWER MEANING AND SYMBOLISM

Through the turbulence and the difficulties in life, the beautiful flower emerges, in spite of the trials and tribulations.

The mud helps in the growth of the final beauty.

As in life, difficulties and experiences shape us to be even better and to display our inner beauty.

Anybody who has ever observed a lotus flower emerging from a murky pond cannot fail to see the beauty of this exquisite plant.

The flower always looks so clean and pure against the background of the dirty pond.

Because of this the lotus flower has come to be associated with purity and beauty in the religions of Buddhism and Hinduism respectively; the ancient Egyptians scholars observed that in the night-time the lotus closed its flowers and sank into the water, and came up with a different association with the flower related to rebirth and the Sun; in actual fact the Lotus slowly emerges from a pond over a three day period and then blooms in the morning until mid-afternoon.

Lotus
Oh, beautiful flower,
How wistful in woe,
Paint peace in your petals
And peace in foe.

TAINOS

Until the day I die.

BORINQUEN
is the name of my land

Before the conquerers came

Before the poverty

Before the blood shead

my people
de lo Boriquen island

Tene la sangre
de los Santos

lo sangre de Dios

He sleeps in our hearts

Tu corazon
they call it

We were Taino Indians

Till we had to hide our skin

We were once naked

Our land clothed us

Our bodies
beautiful in its natural form

Our fruits of our land
was pure

Our skin
the color of gold

Our waters
clear as sky

Then one day
we died

We now hide
in the blood
of the spanish pride

We are still alive ….

The Taíno are an Arawak people who were indigenous peoples of the Caribbean and Florida. At the time of European contact in the late 15th century, they were the principal inhabitants of most of Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola (presently Haiti and the Dominican Republic), and Puerto Rico in the Greater Antilles, the northern Lesser Antilles, and the Bahamas, where they were known as the Lucayans. They spoke the Taíno language, one of the Arawakan languages.
