Melania’s White House Christmas decorations have become a horror meme yet again

Your new holiday tradition: A Very Scary White House Christmas!

The White House has decked its halls for the holidays. And just like last year, its trimmings look more frightening than festive at first glance.

If you were one of many people who thought last year’s White House Christmas display was bizarrely ominous, moody lighting and barren tree skeletons looking like the backdrop of a horror movie – well, then, I can’t wait to hear what you think of the 2018 holiday look.

Melania reportedly spent months working on this year’s decorations, which she unveiled in a series of Monday morning tweets.

Perhaps determined to continue signaling disregard for her critics, Drumpf has repeated the idea of horror-tinged White-House decor in at least one corner of the place, lining an entire hallway with blood-red Christmas trees that immediately reminded gawkers on social media of fun holiday movies.

I can’t believe this is happening … my heart brakes at the sight of people in need treated like animals and, yes, ‘vermin‘ … by the mighty, imperialistic US of A!

The strong, the mighty, the proud.

These are the people that the mighty need to fear and fend off?

A supposedly ‘Christian nation‘ who welcomed immigrants.

Farrokh Bulsara (5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991), known professionally as Freddie Mercury, was a British singer-songwriter and record producer, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen.

He was known for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range.

Mercury wrote numerous hits for Queen, including “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Killer Queen”, “Somebody to Love”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, and “We Are the Champions”.

He led a solo career while performing with Queen, and occasionally served as a producer and guest musician for other artists.

After the events of Oct. 2, our family visited Dad’s home in Virginia.

The hardest part was seeing his empty chair. His absence was deafening. We could see him sitting there, glasses on his forehead, reading or typing away. As we looked at his belongings, we knew he had chosen to write so tirelessly in the hopes that when he did return to the kingdom, it might be a better place for him and all Saudis.

This is no eulogy, for that would confer a state of closure.

Rather, this is a promise that his light will never fade, that his legacy will be preserved within us. Baba said it best:

“Some depart to remain,” which rings true today. We feel blessed to have been raised with his moral compass, his respect for knowledge and truth, and his love.

Until we meet again in the next life.

I’m a proud Boricua woman

My heritage comes from Taíno, Spanish and African roots.

All of which I’m very proud of.

Many came before me … and in 1950, I was born!

The recorded history of women in Puerto Rico can trace its roots back to the era of the Taíno, the indigenous people of the Caribbean, who inhabited the island that they called “Borikén” before the arrival of Spaniards. During the Spanish colonization the cultures and customs of the Taíno, Spanish, African and women from non-Hispanic European countries blended into what became the culture and customs of Puerto Rico.

In the early part of the 19th Century the women in Puerto Rico were Spanish subjects and had little individual rights. Those who belonged to the upper class of the Spanish ruling society had better educational opportunities then those who did not. However, there were many women who were already active participants in the labor movement and in the agricultural economy of the island.

After Puerto Rico was ceded to the United States in 1898 as a result of the Spanish–American War, women once again played an integral role in Puerto Rican society by contributing to the establishment of the University of Puerto Rico, women’s suffrage, women’s rights, civil rights, and to the military of the United States.

During the period of industrialization of the 1950’s, many women in Puerto Rico found employment in the needle industry, working as seamstresses in garment factories. Many Puerto Rican families also migrated to the United States in the 1950’s.
