~~How am I a positive influence~~

I started this blog a bit more than one year ago. At that time I had no idea where it was going to take me. I was armed with knowledge gained in a lifetime and a real desire to help, educate, entertain, support and inspire those who visited “It Is What It Is“.

My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I’m open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability. I sincerely try to bring light and comfort into every post that I write. I bring light into the events that affects us as human beings: Nature, Environment, Animals. Be the voice of the voiceless. Desire to inspire.

Our mission should be to bring peoples of all walks of life together. To be one …. since we ALL are ONE!!

Realize that the future looks bright and promising!!!

I will present this beautiful “award/badge” to two very dear friends, wonderfully incredible human beings and exceptional bloggers.

My Wings me

Just Patty” ….http://petitemagique.wordpress.com/

Patty is a Dutch poet and writer. This month has been bittersweet for her. She has seen the publication of her poetry book “My Wings” and a young adult fantasy novel in Dutch that will be published on the 14th of April!

It’s entitled ‘Drägan Duma – Zij Die Hoort’ (Drägan Duma – The Listener).

It’s a bittersweet month because in spite of these important turning points, there’s a sadness in the month of April.

“For my brother Gerard ….

Although it’s been 19 years ago since the bullets took you away from us, I still miss you so much. Some wounds just don’t heal.

…. See you in Heaven”

My wish is to “see” her smile when she reads this post.

Xena …. http://blackbutterfly7.wordpress.com/

Xena loves butterflies. So, who else would be a great recipient of this beautiful creation? She’s a wonderful human being who champions causes that are fought in the legal arena. She works continuously and keeps us informed of events that may otherwise be forgotten. She literally “fights” for the underdog and those affected by miscarriages of justice in spite of the many attacks that she finds herself under.

My wish is to “see” her smile when she reads this post.

These are, in my humble opinion, two wonderful women whose heart can be “seen” in the writings they post in their blog. I feel honored to call them my friends.

They are excellent candidates for this beautiful recognition.

Enjoy, dear friends. I hope you accept.

“My Wings” ….. by “Just Patty”!!

~~April 3, 2014~~

“Poetry is a way of showing your darkest thoughts and deepest feelings through the art of words. Listen to the music of your soul and let your pen dance on the rhythm.”

I have found a friend in this wonderful web we weave in the WordPress platform. We have become close to such a degree that we call each other “Big and Lil” Sister ….. She is a wonderful human being who has had her share of troubles and sadness in life. She talks about it and shows her true heart. Her poetry and poetrics have become a way for her to express the feelings deep within every fiber of her being.

Her name is Patty … “Just Patty”.

You can find her here: http://petitemagique.wordpress.com/

~~In her own words~~

Just Patty” is the poet name used by the Dutch author Patty van Delft

Why the name ‘Just Patty’? Because writing poetry is a naked reflection of the heart and soul, nothing more and nothing less. It’s ‘Just You’ without decorations.

~~A Review of My Wings by Just Patty~~

(written by Phil Fontana)

My Wings, by Just Patty, a book of poetry worthy of your consideration, is in the mainstream of the best that is out there. Move this poetry book to the top of your list! It is a roller coaster of emotions. Part I, My Dark Wings, with around 58 poems, and Part II, My Light Wings, with maybe 54 poems, are written by the Dutch author, Patty van Delft. In My Wings, this rising star of a poet establishes herself as a force to be reckoned with. This is no ordinary poetry book as a listing of emotions and topics will attest. And the exquisite, unique photographs with accompanying verses are by Patty herself doubling as both photographer and model! Her images are strikingly beautiful.

The poetry is a mix of both free form and rhyme and meter, giving the poems a freedom and charm that entrance the reader. The poems are a diatribe on the tumultuous vicissitudes of life. What? That means, “shit happens.” And one suspects this subject matter comes from the author’s circle of life, both hers and those around her, family and friends. My Dark Wings has not only the travails of life, but its loves. And My Light Wings has the love of life and its travails.

And so the reader sets out on a journey through a maze of upheaval and passion. Emotions such as, but not limited to, loss, grief, fear, frustration, depression, strength, courage, despair, hope, anger, hate, love and so much more! – -Topics touched on, but not limited to, survival regret, failure, abuse, drugs, abandonment, revenge, cowardice, discouragement, disgrace, sanity, hopelessness, and so much more! And with these are intertwined the important, recurring themes of fighting on no matter what, demons, nightmares, the “mask,” wings, love in all its dimensions, and more. And those wings, dark and light, predominate many of the excellent photographs.

These poems hold a few surprises and ironies. Curiously, heaven and eternity show themselves, perhaps, only twice. Of favorite poems there be too many. Hard pressed to pick a few in Part I, try “My Black Wings,” “Am I still here?” “Don’t worry,” “The Asylum of my own mind,” “Hells Bells,” “Missing the real you,” “Mixed feelings,” “Two me’s,” ” In my dreams,” and “Bitter April.” And in Part II, look at “Lean on me,” “Path of life,” “I shall be me,” “Carved into my soul,” “I will stay wild,” “ My Knight,” “The girl in the picture,” “Love me for who I am,” “Out of the shadows,” and “No genie.”

It is no wonder “Just Patty” van Delft’s favorite author, so it is said, is Edgar Allan Poe. To Poe’s genre of the macabre, Patty has taken the form and made it her own in our times. In the words of another giant in literature, John Keats, her “…poetry comes… as naturally as the Leaves to a tree,”

Philip Fontana

~~A Review of My Wings by Just Patty~~

(written by Adrian Mitchell)

This book is an extraordinarily frank and honest look at the core emotions of life. The poet examines loss, loneliness, anger and hurt as if it happens to her every day. Patty is fearless in opening her heart to examination, and reveals her soul with her every word.

Patty displays a thorough understanding of the dark world of depression, and reveals the true feelings of a sufferer. Her apparent experience of her time in the dark makes comforting reading for fellow sufferers, and gives supporters of sufferers a very clear insight into a world rather hidden away from.

All of this being said, Patty writes of love, hope, strength and unity with as much passion and truth of emotion as she does about negative feelings. Her thoughts are beautiful, whether in love or loss, and every reader will find relevance in her beautifully constructed words.

Patty’s work is not an easy read. This is a collection of real emotions, some raw to the bone, while others covered in rose petals. Beautiful in honesty and transparency, it takes a brave soul to live through the reading of this extraordinary collection of real emotions.

Patty is a beautiful writer as she is an artist, as she is a person. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to read her beautiful work.
