I grew up listening to some of these awesome Latin singers.

Others grew up in from of my very own eyes.

I’m very happy to see a young, coming up talent like Karen Rodriguez honor the ladies that she grew up listening to who may have shaped her musical talent.

This is a wonderful video for me to wake up to and a wonderful start to a new week.

Karen Rodriguez Pays Tribute To Jenni Rivera, Selena, More With Medley ‘Reinas’

Karen Rodriguez wants Latinas to be loud and proud throughout Women’s History Month. The Miami born singer partnered up with Spotify in the compilation of some of the greatest hits sung by the best Latina performers the music industry has ever seen.

With “Reinas: A Tribute to Latina Women in History,” the singer-songwriter pays tribute to the “reinas” she grew up listening to.

Arranged and produced by Luis Gomez (Raulín Rosendo, Frankie J, Tito Nieves), the medley features songs originally made famous by legends such as, Celia Cruz, Jenni Rivera, Milly Quezada, Gloria Estefan, Olga Tañon, and Selena, and combines Latin music genres like bolero, salsa, Tejano, and Latin pop.

SiriusXM premiers Karen Rodriguez’s brand new cover of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” entitled “Quiérete a Tí”.

Rodriguez tells SiriusXM,

“When I first heard ‘Love Yourself,’ it instantly became one of my favorite Justin Bieber songs – I loved the story he told!

Coincidentally, many of my Instagram followers requested that I cover it. After my Spanglish cover of “Hello,” my fans demanded full Spanish covers, so I began translating!

I realized how beautiful it would sound completely in Spanish, and knew my fans would love it. The songs original melody and structure is completely intact, but I changed the narrators perspective to my own and tell my own story.”

The video for “Quiérete a Tí” was recorded at SiriusXM Studios in New York. In an exclusive interview with Vivia, SiriusXM channel 763, the American Idol finalist talks about the phenomenon that has been her Spanish interpretation of  “Hello” by Adele – which has more than 8 million views on YouTube – and what it’s like composing with the King of Bachata, Romeo Santos.

SPANGLISH VERSION

You may say that I’m “obsessed” (and you may be correct).

I’m in love.

I love Adele’s new album “25”.

“Hello” is very special to me because my significant other told me that this song could describe part of our past.

An to top it all, here’s a version part in Spanish.

(We call it “Spanglish”).

Karen Rodriguez does a great job in the translated lyrics. I wonder how the complete song would sound in Spanish.

After killing you softly with her Spanglish cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” the American Idol alum is back with another bilingual twist, giving Adele a run for her money with a raw and powerful rendition of “Hello.”

“I connected deeply with ‘Hello’ and after seeing how well it was received, I knew people would enjoy hearing it in a new way,” said Karen to VIBE Viva.

“I decided to give it a twist and write my own lyrical adaptation in Spanish, opting out of a literal translation. I wanted to express what the song made me feel, and I also wanted to stay as true to the melody and to Adele’s flow in the original.

But I am a bilingual artist, I love singing and writing music in both languages, and I hope this cover serves as a platform where I can gain more fans who genuinely love and appreciate the work I do!”
