Nigeria’s abducted Chibok girls two years on

When Boko Haram kidnapped 276 students from a girls’ school in Chibok in north-eastern Nigeria in April 2014, world leaders and online activists united to call for their return.

But two years later, 219 students are still missing.

So where does that leave the #BringBackOurGirls campaign?

~~Proof of life for some kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls~~

~~Published on Apr 13, 2016~~

New and recent video and pictures of kidnapped Chibok girls obtained from Boko Haram hideout

Tagged proof of life recording, the 2 minutes video believed to have been shot in December last year, was obtained from one of the people negotiating for the release of the girls.
The video shows some of the girls mentioning their names while a portion of the video shows some of their mothers identifying the girls. ‎

Rifkatu Ayuba who is one of the mothers of the girls saw her 17 year old daughter Saratu for the first time after the video was shown to her
“My Saratu!” she wailed, reaching out to a laptop screen, the closest she’s been to her child in two years.

“I felt like removing her from the screen. If I could, I would have removed her from the screen.”she said.
A source close to negotiations between Boko Haram and the Nigerian govt said the video was provided by the terror group as an act of good faith.

CNN obtained a video of some of the “Chibok Girls” sent to negotiators by their captors as a “proof of life.”
The video had been seen by negotiators and some members of the government.
But no one had shown the parents.

Until now.

We ALL are ONE!!

To start the day … “Let there be peace on Earth ….. “!!

~~December 29, 2014~~

This year is close to its end. It has been a trying year in so many aspects. Conflicts, war, injustices, kidnapping, bombings, invasion of free, established countries, power moves, power grabs, disappointing elections, persecution, inequality, racism, abuse by authority figures, killings …. the list continues. Feel free to add your own.

Soon a new year will start …. can we reverse course?

One summer evening in 1955, a group of 180 teenagers of all races and religions, meeting at a workshop high in the California mountains, locked arms, formed a circle and sang a song of peace. They felt that singing the song, with its simple basic sentiment – “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me,” helped to create a climate for world peace and understanding.

When they came down from the mountain, these inspired young people brought the song with them and started sharing it. And, as though on wings, “Let There Be Peace On Earth” began an amazing journey around the globe. It traveled first, of course with the young campers back to their homes and schools, churches and clubs. Then the circle started by the teenagers began to grow. Soon the song was being shared in all fifty states – at school graduations and a PTA meetings, at Christmas and Easter gatherings and as part of the celebration of Brotherhood Week.

It was a theme for Veteran’s Day, Human Rights Day and U.N. Day. 4-H Clubs and the United Auto Workers began singing it. So did the American Legion, the B’nai B’rith, the Kiwanis Clubs and CORE. It was taped, recorded, copied, printed in song books, and passed by word of mouth.

The song spread overseas to Holland, England, France, Germany, Lebanon, South America, Asia and Australia. The Maoris in New Zealand sang it – even the Zulus in Africa sang it.

Music for a peaceful mind.
“Let There Be Peace On Earth” -Sang by Vince Gill
Written by Jill Jackson Miller (1913-1995) American singer, actress

Jill Jackson’s early life was filled with tragedy and self-doubt. Although she had moderate success as a film star, she tried to kill herself after her marriage fell apart. Her unsuccessful suicide attempt led to a deep spiritual awakening, and after marrying songwriter Sy Miller they co-wrote the 1955 classic song of hope, “Let There Be Peace On Earth and Let It Begin With Me”. She called this song, “life-saving joy of God’s peace and unconditional love.”
