How Many More Must Die? …. “Spoken Word …. by Lula Saleh …. “!!

~~June 19, 2017~~

SO VERY UNCERTAINTY SAD TIMES

LULA SALEH

After the police officer who shot Philando Castille is set free, after the shooting in a baseball practice, after 3 serial Islamophobic attacks in the United Kingdom within the last month, the killing of Nabra Hassanen, Muslim teen, killed after leaving Virginia mosque, we ask ourselves, like Lula Saleh, has done,

how many more must die?

African American, Muslims, refugees, LGBTQ community, minorities … different people, because of their differences!?

The video speaks for itself.

(RIO PIEDRAS)

IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE VICTIMS OF THE ORLANDO MASSACRE

To the Spanish speaking visitors, this will touch their hearts.

To those who don’t speak Spanish, this is a very well known song in Puerto Rico.

The genre is know as “danza”.

“Mis Amores”

Lyrics basically state that we say goodbye to “my loves”.

I feel pain in my soul which I will never forget.

Perfect for this sad occasion.

tormentos a millares
que me vienen a mortificar.

El corazón se me aflige
lloro tu ausencia mi bien,
eres el ser que más adoro
en mi bella Borinquén.

Ya cesaron para mi
el placer, la ilusión,
¡Ay de mi!
que me mata esta fuerte pasión.
Y tu, angel querido,
no has comprendido
lo que es amor.

Piensa mi bien amada
que mis amores son
la flor más delicada
que te ofrece mi corazón.

IOTD …. Image of the day, #355 …. “National Coming Out Day”!!

ComeOut

~~October 11, 2015~~

NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY

National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is an annual civil awareness day internationally observed on October 11 to recognize members of the LGBTQ+ community. The process of coming out involves self-disclosure of one’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

NCOD was founded in 1988 by Robert Eichberg, a psychologist from New Mexico and founder of the personal growth workshop, The Experience, and Jean O’Leary, an openly gay political leader from Los Angeles and then head of the National Gay Rights Advocates. The date of October 11 was chosen because it was the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.

Initially administered from the West Hollywood offices of the National Gay Rights Advocates, the first NCOD received participation from eighteen states, garnering national media coverage. In its second year NCOD headquarters moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico and participation grew to 21 states. After a media push in 1990 NCOD was observed in all 50 states and seven other countries.

Participation continued to grow and in 1990 NCOD merged their efforts with the Human Rights Campaign.

A dear blogger friend taught me this concept.

You can find Michelle here: http://mchelsmusings.wordpress.com/

~IN HER OWN WORDS~

IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”
