This is Angelika, my oldest grand-daughter, you may have seen her here a few times. She is 9 years old.
She loves music, as much as I do. She’s been keeping me up to date with some of the new songs that are coming out. She knows the songs but doesn’t know the performer most of the time. I’ve trying to teach her it’s important to also know who is singing. Very frequently, we use the “Shazam” app to identify the singer/band.
I’m still catching up from the list that she’s given me. She told me I better get on it. So, here I am!!
“Shake It Off” is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift for her fifth studio album, 1989 (2014). Written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback, the single, a departure from her signature country pop-musical style, is an uptempo pop track instrumented by saxophone.
The song premiered during a Yahoo! live stream session on August 18, 2014; its music video was also released the same day. Several hours later, “Shake It Off” was made available for digital download as the lead single from 1989.
“Shake It Off” received mostly positive reviews from music critics, who praised its musical style. Meanwhile, the music video received mixed reception, and was additionally criticized for a scene which involved twerking. “Shake It Off” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week ending September 6, 2014, becoming Swift’s second number one single in the United States and the 22nd song to debut at number one in the chart’s history.
