The term ‘420’ began its sub-rosa linguistic career in 1971 as a bit of slang casually used by a group of high school kids (known as “Waldos”) at San Rafael High School in California.
The term ‘420’ (always pronounced “four-twenty,” never “four hundred and twenty”) came to be an accepted part of the argot within that group of about a dozen pot smokers, beginning as a reminder of the time they planned to meet to light up, 4:20 p.m.
Getting our marriage license!!
This is how our day began, early morning, 2 years ago!
Yet our story began 38 years ago when we met in college!
We met and it was as if we’d known each other forever. Life got in the way and each went along different life paths. Yet, life brought us together again in 1996. Together, inseparable since. Two years ago, our union was legalized! ‘Til death do us part’ .. are the words that rule our lives. Happy anniversary, my love!!
‘Love Has No Labels‘ has launched its newest video, ‘We Are America,’ in celebration of not only Independence Day in the US, but the diversity that makes up the country.
WWE mega-star John Cena is featured in the three-and-a-half minute video that celebrates love and acceptance of all communities regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age and ability.
It is supported by a wide-ranging digital campaign, including an opportunity for people to submit photos to demonstrate the diversity that makes up America.
“I am proud to be part of The Ad Council’s ‘Love Has No Labels‘ campaign, ‘We Are America’,” said WWE Superstar John Cena. “This campaign sends an important message of acceptance that truly embodies the spirit of America.”
The latest push is designed to encourage Americans to define their love of country as love of all Americans and to challenge the assumptions of what defines an ‘average’ American — likely different from the person imagined.
The spirit of inclusiveness is evident in the labels that Americans use to define themselves — Latino, disabled, lesbian, Muslim, senior citizen, African American and others.
“At a time when it feels hard for our country to find common ground, we need to remind audiences that to celebrate America is to celebrate all Americans.
We’re so proud to continue the Love Has No Labels message as part of the 4 July holiday and throughout the year,” said Lisa Sherman, president and chief executive of The Ad Council.
“‘We Are America’ illuminates what we already know – that Americans today cover the full spectrum of age, sexuality, ability, race and religion. And this message is just as important now as ever.”
John Cena takes a break between dropping body slams to drop some truth – that patriotism is more than pride of country, it’s love beyond labels.
While the vast majority of Americans consider themselves unprejudiced, many of us unintentionally make snap judgments about people based on what we see – whether it’s race, age, gender, religion, sexuality, or disability.
The Love Has No Labels campaign challenges us to open our eyes to our implicit, or unconscious, bias and work to stop it in ourselves, our families, our friends, and our colleagues.
“IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”
Another year has passed for you, sweetheart;
It’s time to cut the cake and celebrate.
And once again, my love, I start to think
Of things about you I appreciate.
It means so much to have you in my life;
Your loving care fills up my days with pleasure.
Your warm and giving nature helps create
Close, special times together that I treasure.
I live within a safe and steady world,
Because you love me unconditionally.
Your easygoing ways mean that I’m blessed
With peace and joy and blissful harmony.
To me your birthday is a precious day;
I hope it brings you joy in every way.

A wedding ring is an emblem and throughout time has symbolized love, devotion and even an agreement between families. The physical structure of the wedding ring has changed as different civilizations have changed it to look more and more beautiful. Some materials are more dear like precious metals and are considered to be of greater value – hence might mean more.
However the meaning behind the symbol has stayed the same throughout time and over continents. “I love you” “I wish to be with you forever” and “You are mine.”
A ring in its simplest form is a circle, which means ‘forever.’
What more could couples need than the unclouded wish to spend all time together? This makes that traditional symbolism even more important for each couple.

The untold story of the improbable campaign that finally tipped the U.S. Supreme Court.
May 18, 1970, Jack Baker and Michael McConnell walked into a courthouse in Minneapolis, paid $10, and applied for a marriage license. The county clerk, Gerald Nelson, refused to give it to them. Obviously, he told them, marriage was for people of the opposite sex; it was silly to think otherwise.
Baker, a law student, didn’t agree. He and McConnell, a librarian, had met at a Halloween party in Oklahoma in 1966, shortly after Baker was pushed out of the Air Force for his sexuality. From the beginning, the men were committed to one another. In 1967, Baker proposed that they move in together. McConnell replied that he wanted to get married—really, legally married. The idea struck even Baker as odd at first, but he promised to find a way and decided to go to law school to figure it out.
Last week, June 26, 2015, the high court reversed itself and declared that gays could marry nationwide.
“Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in his sweeping decision in Obergefell v. Hodges.
“They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”

The plaintiffs’ arguments in Obergefell were strikingly similar to those Baker made back in the 1970’s. And the Constitution has not changed since Baker made his challenge (save for the ratification of the Twenty-Seventh Amendment, on congressional salaries).
But the high court’s view of the legitimacy and constitutionality of same-sex marriage changed radically: In the span of 43 years, the notion had gone from ridiculous to constitutionally mandated.

For one so small,
you seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
keep you safe and warm This bond between us Can’t be broken
I will be here
Don’t you cry
‘Cause you’ll be in my heart
Yes, you’ll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
You’ll be in my heart
No matter what they say You’ll be here in my heart, always
Why can’t they understand
the way we feel
They just don’t trust
what they can’t explain
I know we’re different but,
deep inside us We’re not that different at all

Phil Collins Performs: ”You’ll Be In My Heart” Live at the First Farewell Tour, 2004.
There is an Oriental legend called the “red string of fate”.
Every time a child is born an invisible thread is tied around the little finger.
The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break.
Our journey together has been a very long one. This time from 1969 through 2015. There were some bumps along the way when the string got stretched and tangled but it brought us back in 1996. We have been together since.
Today, the union that we’ve had for so many years becomes legal under the eyes of human law. In our eyes it has always been a major commitment. Today we get a “blessing” from our society where what we have is equal, without doubt, to what many others have.
I Horty, out and proud, take you Maryjane to be my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.
I honor you with all that you are. I embrace you with all that you bring. I embrace you with your family which has become my family.
From this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.
There is a matchmaker god who is in charge of marriages and she has done a good job.
Today our red string of fate is permanently shortened, so much so, that our hands are side by side and will remain that way until our time on Earth is done. I promise that I will wait for you until we meet again to start our next life together.
Our life has come full circle.
You are my love, you are my life …. You are my forever partner.
