A former employee at the Cayuga Centers facility in East Harlem has leaked footage of herself comforting a tearful migrant girl longing for her mother.
The child – taken from her mother in April – weeps into her arm as an unidentified staffer can be heard coaxing out of her what happened to her family at the U.S.-Mexico border. The heartbreaking clip aired Monday night on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” and is one of the first candid looks from inside a federally-funded charity tasked with caring for migrant children, some of whom were taken from their families while crossing the border.

ON TAKING THE FIFTH AMENDMENT

The Fifth Amendment (Amendment V) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights and, among other things, protects individuals from being compelled to be witnesses against themselves in criminal cases.

“Pleading the Fifth” is thus a colloquial term for invoking the right that allows witnesses to decline to answer questions where the answers might incriminate them, and generally without having to suffer a penalty for asserting the right.

~Michael Cohen asserts Fifth Amendment rights in Stormy Daniels case~

Michael Cohen, the longtime personal attorney for President Drumpf, filed court papers Wednesday, April 25, indicating he would assert his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination regarding his involvement in a hush money deal involving porn star Stormy Daniels and the ‘so-called’ President.

Cohen filed the declaration as part of an effort to have a civil lawsuit filed by Daniels put on hold.

The judge in that case said last week that he needed to hear from Cohen directly before deciding on that request.
Michael Avenatti, Daniels’ attorney, called Cohen’s declaration “a stunning development.”
