Michael Moore was his guest that night.

His segment was impressive.

Well-known and loved liberal mind Michael Moore appeared on MSNBC to explain his five-point plan to resist Donald Trump in 2017.

Moore has already made waves several times since the election, most notably with his plan to immediately have Donald Trump impeached, but he has come back to the the public with a level-headed and practical way everyone can move into the new year with a plan – and hope.

Visit your Congressional representative, whether in the House or in the Senate.

(Moore reminds those watching that Congress is in recess, and all representatives will be home.)

Insist that the Democratic National Committee appoint leaders who fall within the progressive spectrum.

Form your very own rapid-response team.

(This is explained as a team made up of  neighbors, friends, or family who will be part of a text, call, or Facebook tree designed to prompt immediate response to Trump by contacting representatives, applying social media pressure, etc. The goal? To make sure your voices are heard.)

Plan to be a part of a protest taking place during Trump’s inauguration weekend.

Have a Plan B – as bad as you think it’s going to be, it’s actually going to be worse.

GOING DARK

Slang term in the intelligence world which means you go silent. You don’t speak or communicate with anyone for a given period on time.

It is a way of protecting yourself from someone who would do you harm.

At this moment in time, I’m going dark because there are no real words to convey the way I feel today; the way I’ve felt since election night.

Many were hoping for a ‘sea of blue‘ on that USA map. Instead it was a ‘sea of red‘.

(Could that be an indicator of things to come? The color of blood.)

I still feel numb. My heart is aching. I don’t have the spirit of ‘dust yourself off and get ready to fight’.

I’m not there yet. Don’t know it I will.

For now, I’ll reblog what is interesting, educational and related to current events.

Michael Moore said it best; this wasn’t just an election ― this was a referendum on bigotry. And, bigotry won. The Alt-Right is already celebrating. The Alt-Right who exists under the guise of an ambiguous title, but is nothing more than a white supremacist nationalist group who seek a to rid this country of anything deemed as “other.”

Last night was a victory for them.

An Open Letter to Ivanka Trump from Michael Moore

“Your Dad’s Not Well”

Dear Ivanka,

I’m writing to you because your dad is not well.

Every day he continues his spiral downward – and after his call for gun owners to commit acts of violence against Mrs. Clinton, it is clear he needs help, serious help. His comments and behavior have become more and more bizarre and detached from reality. He is in need of an intervention. And I believe only you can conduct it.

He trusts you. He believes in you. Although I don’t know you personally, you seem to be a very smart and together woman. I think he will listen to you. He must because he is now not simply a danger to himself, he has put the next president of the United States in harms way. He has encouraged and given permission to the unhinged and the deranged to essentially assassinate Hillary Clinton. Her life is now in worse danger than it already was – and should anything happen, that will not only be on his head but also on those closest to him if they stand by and do nothing. I say this with the utmost kindness, care and concern for you, and I know you will do the right thing. Bring him in, off the road, away from the crowds. Now. Tonight.

And when you do, here is what a good friend of mine, a former counselor and social worker, Jeff Gibbs, suggests that you say to him:

Dad, we need to have a chat.  Are you feeling okay? Do you have a minute? Please sit down. Because this isn’t going to be easy. No, I am not pregnant. No, what is going on is … is … I am really, really worried about my father. About you.

Dad, I owe everything to you. You’ve built an empire, a brand and a business for the ages. You have taken care of me, inspired me and, through your example, have made me who I am: a self-confident, honest-to-a-flaw, woman.

But Dad, I am deeply worried. You haven’t been yourself lately. The father I know is not a hater, not someone who encourages violence. Dad, you used to be A LIBERAL. You raised me as a liberal! The Clintons were your friends — Chelsea is one of my best friends! And now you’re joking that Hillary should be assassinated? Really?

Dad, I hate to say this, but you’re making me scared, you’re making my friends scared, and you’re scaring the whole country.

Dad … Dad, sit down! They’ll wait. I am not finished. Don’t get angry. Try to listen.

Yes, I know they love it, the crowd goes wild. But not for YOU. They don’t love YOU. They love the show that you put on. But people that hunger for red meat will turn on you in a minute. No, they don’t love you. I love you. I will always love you. And I see you hurting yourself — and you’re hurting ME, Dad.

Don’t get upset! You’re still the handsomest billionaire I know. I will always love you. Melania will always love you. Vladimir will always love you … OK, maybe that wasn’t funny. But you get my point. This running for President thing is destroying the dad I have known and loved. And honestly, you and I both know you didn’t really want this job to begin with! You just wanted to make a point. OK, well, POINT MADE! You did it! Now, let’s stop and get some help.

I am asking you, right now, to give it up. To leave the race. Let that nice man from Indiana run things. Your place in history is secure. You need to withdraw. Move on, for your sake, for the country’s sake, for my sake.

The man who raised me was the man who, for no charge, built a huge ice rink in Central Park for all the people to use! You struck deals with some of the biggest assholes on the planet in finance and politics and yet remained friends, mostly. You built a family that loves you. I want that dad back! And I worry that, if you don’t stop now, neither you nor the country will ever recover.

There, there, Dad, it’s okay, let it out. Let it out because I know beneath that gruff, tough, handsome exterior is a little boy who just never got enough love. And that little boy needs some time to find himself again.

Let’s you and I walk out there now right now. The cameras are all set up and waiting. You can make up whatever excuse you want. You can blame whomever you want. You’re good at that! I just know this can’t go on, and you know it, too.

Take my hand, let’s end this. And by tomorrow you and I will be sipping Martinis on our yacht in the Hamptons with Chelsea and the friends we still have left.

I love you, Dad. Let’s do this.

That’s right, take my hand, here we go …

Ivanka, I have faith in you that you can do this. I know I’ve called your dad “crazy” before, but I was speaking politically, not clinically. This has gone beyond “crazy”. The entire nation — in fact, the entire world — needs you to step forward and do the courageous thing history will praise you for: the loving act of a brilliant daughter who also loved her beleaguered country enough to say her father wasn’t well and needed help.

Flint, Michigan ….”They Don’t Care About Us”!!

If you haven’t heard about the situation in Flint, Michigan, where the town’s drinking water has been contaminated with lead and other chemicals, you have really been living under a rock.

This is a major health issue, a major political scandal, a major “blaming you, not me” scenario.

Flint, Michigan has a population of roughly 100,000 residents.

Of these, roughly 10,000 are children.

They all have been exposed to water contaminated with corrosive materials and lead.

Many times, songs are vehicles of expression for the people.

I found this video through Michael Moore‘s Facebook page.

I’m sure the “King of Pop” wasn’t thinking about Flint, yet, how “right on target” are this song’s lyrics.

To make matters worse, it seems that Flint isn’t the only city with major water problems.

It seems it could happen anywhere where community policies are driven by greed.

The Flint water crisis is a drinking water contamination crisis in Flint, Michigan, United States that started in April 2014.

After Flint changed its water source from treated Detroit Water and Sewerage Department water (which was sourced from Lake Huron as well as the Detroit River) to the Flint River, its drinking water had a series of problems that culminated with lead contamination, creating a serious public health danger.

The corrosive Flint River water caused lead from aging pipes to leach into the water supply, causing extremely elevated levels of lead. In Flint, between 6,000 and 12,000 children have been exposed to drinking water with high levels of lead and they may experience a range of serious health problems. The water change is also a possible cause of an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in the county that has killed 10 people and affected another 77.

In 2011, the Governor of Michigan took over the city of Flint, a majority-African American city where almost half the population lives below the poverty line. He installed an un-elected “financial manager” to run the city for him.

In 2014, the Governor decided to switch Flint’s drinking water system from the Great Lakes to the toxic Flint River.

This is for the 102,000 men, women and children of Flint who are still being poisoned and lied to.

The one to first brake it and continue investigating the horror that the citizens in Flint were exposed to was Rachel Maddow.

In true form, her special reports and follow up made the story a concern for mainstream media which had ignored the poisoning of a city of 100,000 + citizens in the name of saving money for the state.

The Flint water crisis is an ongoing drinking water contamination crisis in Flint, Michigan, in the United States

In 2014, the City of Flint switched its water supply from the City of Detroit (which had supplied it for nearly half a century) to the Flint River. The move was an effort to save costs. It was viewed as a temporary fix prior to an ultimate switch to a permanent Flint water supply, which would be provided after the Karegnondi Water Authority‘s construction of a pipeline from Lake Huron, thereby eliminating Flint’s long-time dependence on Detroit city water.

After the change in water source, the city’s drinking water had a series of issues that culminated with lead contamination, creating a serious public health danger. The corrosive Flint River water caused lead from aging pipes to leach into the water supply, causing extremely elevated levels of lead. As a result, between 6,000 and 12,000 residents had severely high levels of lead in the blood and experienced a range of serious health problems. The water change is also a possible cause of an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in the county that has killed 10 people and affected another 77.

On November 13, 2015, four families filed a federal class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit against Governor Rick Snyder and thirteen other city and state officials, and three separate people filed a similar suit in state court two months later. Separately, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan and the Michigan Attorney General’s office opened investigations.

On January 5, 2016, the city was declared to be in a state of emergency by the Governor of Michigan, before President Obama declared the crisis as a federal state of emergency, authorizing additional help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security less than two weeks later.

MICHAEL MOORE’S OPEN LETTER

I have been following this story since Rachel Maddow brought it to the forefront before any news outlet, program, shows or journalists were getting involved in this topic.

The decisions made by the “emergency managers” in the city of Flint, selected by Governor Snyder,  have confirmed a high-jacking of democracy in that state.

They have virtually done irreversible harm to the children of the city of Flint. I was waiting for any action or response from Mr. Michael Moore.

Here it is.

He doesn’t disappoint!

Michael Moore says 

““You have effectively poisoned, not just some, but apparently ALL of the children in my hometown of Flint, Michigan. And for that, you have to go to jail.”

Please take a look. It happened there, it could happen anywhere.

Dear Attorney General Lynch

We, the undersigned, call upon you to investigate and, if warranted, arrest and prosecute the Governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder, for violating the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations in cutting off clean drinking water to the city of Flint and making the citizens, instead, drink polluted water from the Flint River; for fraud and political corruption; and for covering up the criminal actions of his administration.

The children of Flint, already amongst the poorest in the U.S., will now have to endure a life of pain, irreversible brain damage and lower IQ’s because of Governor Snyder’s actions. There is no way to totally reverse the effects of lead in a child’s blood stream.

At the very least, justice must be served — and other elected officials must be put on notice, by the actions you will take against the Governor, that people’s lives are more important than balancing a budget.

First of all, I’m back.

After a few days off, I’m back to the grind. I must say that I missed it and missed all of you. It’s hard for me to stay away.  With that said, let’s get down to business.

I’m aware that I’ve been reluctant to continue to give “the donald” any time in this “spot”. However, even though this post talks about him, my intention is to feature Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.

It gives me hope, and dare I think, that some are standing up to the continued rhetoric, inane words, bigotry and incendiary and dangerous, hateful words of the front-runner GOP candidate.

I went & stood in front of Trump Tower & held a sign until the police came. Then I went home & wrote Donald a letter.

Here it is:

Dear Donald Trump,

You may remember (you do, after all, have a “perfect memory!”), that we met back in November of 1998 in the green room of a talk show where we were both scheduled to appear one afternoon. But just before going on, I was pulled aside by a producer from the show who said that you were “nervous” about being on the set with me. She said you didn’t want to be “ripped apart” and you wanted to be reassured I wouldn’t “go after you.”

“Does he think I’m going to tackle him and put him in a choke hold?” I asked, bewildered.

“No,” the producer replied, “he just seems all jittery about you.”

“Huh. I’ve never met the guy. There’s no reason for him to be scared,” I said. “I really don’t know much about him other than he seems to like his name on stuff. I’ll talk to him if you want me to.”

And so, as you may remember, I did. I went up and introduced myself to you. “The producer says you’re worried I might say or do something to you during the show. Hey, no offense, but I barely know who you are. I’m from Michigan. Please don’t worry — we’re gonna get along just fine!”

You seemed relieved, then leaned in and said to me, “I just didn’t want any trouble out there and I just wanted to make sure that, you know, you and I got along. That you weren’t going to pick on me for something ridiculous.”

“Pick on” you? I thought, where are we, in 3rd grade? I was struck by how you, a self-described tough guy from Queens, seemed like such a fraidey-cat.

You and I went on to do the show. Nothing untoward happened between us. I didn’t pull on your hair, didn’t put gum on your seat. “What a wuss,” was all I remember thinking as I left the set.

And now, here we are in 2015 and, like many other angry white guys, you are frightened by a bogeyman who is out to get you. That bogeyman, in your mind, are all Muslims. Not just the ones who have killed, but ALL MUSLIMS.

Fortunately, Donald, you and your supporters no longer look like what America actually is today. We are not a country of angry white guys. Here’s a statistic that is going to make your hair spin: Eighty-one percent of the electorate who will pick the president next year are either female, people of color, or young people between the ages of 18 and 35. In other words, not you. And not the people who want you leading their country.

So, in desperation and insanity, you call for a ban on all Muslims entering this country. I was raised to believe that we are all each other’s brother and sister, regardless of race, creed or color. That means if you want to ban Muslims, you are first going to have to ban me. And everyone else.

We are all Muslim.

Just as we are all Mexican, we are all Catholic and Jewish and white and black and every shade in between. We are all children of God (or nature or whatever you believe in), part of the human family, and nothing you say or do can change that fact one iota. If you don’t like living by these American rules, then you need to go to the time-out room in any one of your Towers, sit there, and think about what you’ve said.

And then leave the rest of us alone so we can elect a real president who is both compassionate and strong — at least strong enough not to be all whiny and scared of some guy in a ballcap from Michigan sitting next to him on a talk show couch. You’re not so tough, Donny, and I’m glad I got to see the real you up close and personal all those years ago.

We are all Muslim. Deal with it.
