LGBTQ Americans Won’t Be Counted in 2020 U.S. Census After All

LGBTQ advocacy groups are outraged after proposed questions regarding sexual orientation and gender identity were quickly removed Tuesday, March 28, from a just-released draft of the 2020 U.S. Census.

The U.S. Census Bureau, which is part of the Department of Commerce, is required to issue a list of categories it plans to track three years before the survey is conducted.

Advocacy groups have been campaigning for years to include questions about sexual orientation and gender identity, and were briefly elated when the 2020 Census draft was released. But hopes were dashed when the proposed addition suddenly disappeared, and a statement was issued by the Census bureau that called the LGBTQ inclusion a mistake.

The term enemy of the people is a fluid designation of political or class opponents of the group using the term

The term implies that the “enemies” in question are acting against society as a whole.It is similar to the notion of “enemy of the state“.

The term originated in Roman times as Latin: hostis publicus, typically translated into English as the “public enemy“.

The term in its “enemy of the people” form has been used for centuries in literature

(An Enemy of the People, the play by Henrik Ibsen, 1882).

Currently this form is mostly used as a reference to Soviet phraseology.

I saw the news related to this incident yesterday as I went through my Facebook Timeline. Someone questioned the veracity of the news.

I contacted a friend who lives in NC to confirm or deny.

This is what she wrote me back when I asked if this was true:

“Yes and yes but it’s all HUSH HUSH. We don’t want the whole world to know what kind of people live in this state. Plus there is a state senator that refuses to change HB2 even after the governors executive order to change parts of it. What idiots we have in this state.”

It didn’t take long before someone not even transgender is affected by this onerous law.

That’s the way it began.

WOMAN KICKED OUT OF LADIES’ BATHROOM BY POLICE AFTER BEING MISTAKEN FOR TRANSGENDER

A North Carolinian woman was brutally ejected from a ladies’ bathroom yesterday after nearby police officers were alerted by local citizens that a transgender was using a public women’s bathroom.

Linda Hovensky, a 54-year-old resident of Charlotte, was tased multiple times by police officers as she was forced outside of the ladies washroom with her pants down and in front of a large crowd.

“I was taking a crap when police officers started yelling at me and telling me to open the door but I wasn’t finished, so they kicked the door open and grabbed me with my pants down and rushed me outside” recalls the victim, visibly traumatized by the latest events.

“I tried to fight them to at least put my pants back on, that’s when they threw me on the floor and started kicking the life out of me and tased me I don’t know how many times,” she told local reporters in tears.

A “visible threat” to police officers
The woman represented a visible threat to police officers on the scene, explains Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department spokesman, Allan Jones.

Kept in jail for five hours
Miss Hovensky was jailed for a period of over five hours at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department because she was unable to identify herself before a friend was able to bring proof of her identity to police headquarters.

“The idiot cops left my purse on the scene and left me to rot in jail for five hours because they thought I was a man? I’m going to sue the hell out of them, you can be sure about that” she told local reporters, visibly angered by the whole affair.

Gov. Pat McCrory signed the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, also known as House Bill 2 or HB2, last month. The law bans people from using bathrooms that don’t match the sex indicated on their birth certificates, which opponents argue is discriminatory toward the transgender community.

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month …. October!!

This is very serious. It may affect anyone, in any kind of relationship. Family member, elderly relatives, LGBT community, marriage, domestic partnership. It’s there.

Physical, verbal, emotional, economic, sexual …. 

The stigma needs to be removed.

Domestic violence (closely related to domestic abuse, spousal abuse, battering, family violence and intimate partner violence) is a pattern of behavior which involves violence or other abuse by one person against another in a domestic context, such as in marriage or cohabitation. Intimate partner violence is domestic violence against a spouse or other intimate partner.

Domestic violence can take place in heterosexual or same-sex relationships. Domestic violence can take a number of forms including physical, emotional, verbal, economic and sexual abuse, which can range from subtle, coercive forms to marital rape and to violent physical abuse that results in disfigurement or death. Globally, a wife or female partner is more commonly the victim of domestic violence, though the victim can also be the male partner, or both partners may engage in abusive or violent behavior, or the victim may act in self-defense or retaliation.

Domestic violence often occurs because the perpetrator believes that abuse is justified and acceptable, and may produce inter-generational cycles of abuse that condone violence. Awareness, perception, definition and documentation of domestic violence differs widely from country to country. There may be a cycle of abuse during which tensions rise and an act of violence is committed, followed by a period of reconciliation and calm.

Victims of domestic violence may be trapped in domestic violent situations through isolation, power and control, insufficient financial resources, fear, shame or to protect children. As a result of abuse, victims may experience physical disabilities, chronic health problems, mental illness, limited finances, and poor ability to create healthy relationships. Victims may experience post-traumatic stress disorder. Children who live in a household with violence may continue the legacy of abuse when they reach adulthood. Domestic violence often happens in the context of forced and child marriage.

Alcohol consumption and mental illness can be co-morbid with abuse, and present additional challenges in eliminating domestic violence. Management of domestic violence may take place through medical services, law enforcement, counseling, and other forms of prevention and intervention.
